ANDREA POV
After school, Ash, Brianna, Isabella, and I piled into a car. We pulled up into a large parking lot.
"So where are we exactly?" Isabella uttered.
"This is what we call the Arena. We have all our physical training tests here at the end of the year. But right now we use it for sport." Brianna explained.
"And what does sport mean?"
"Well, there's a gun range, axe and even knife throwing, I think, and a bunch of others, you'll see."
"Interesting. You know Andrea here, is the best knife thrower there is." I give her a scowl.
"Really?" Ash joins the conversation as we enter the Arena.
"She really is."
"Then let's test her out."
"Wait, let's go to the obstacle course first. That way, Devyn and Sierra can join on the fun stuff when they get here." Why is she coming? Always ruining the fun.
"Waiting for us?" Sierra walks in from behind us.
"You guys made it!" Ash gives her a hug.
"This is Andrea. Andrea, Sierra. Sierra, Andrea." Ash introduces us and she gives me a warm smile.
"No need for the intros, I know the newbie. She's a badass in soccer."
"Oh yeah I forgot you guys play together."
"Well where do you guys want to go first?" Devyn walks in with another girl that I didn't recognize.
"Hey Dev! Hey Iris! What's up?" Brianna exclaims.
"Never been better." Devyn and Iris exchange glances and start to giggle. Ew.
"Well, Andrea is supposedly good with knives... so let's check it out first." Ash puts an arm around me and leads me to the targets on the wall.
"Let's do it in pairs. Losers have to pay for dinner?" Devyn proposes confidently. God, I hated her so much. I hated her confident tone, and the manner she walked around in.
"Let's do it." I reply without any room for hesitation. Ash looks at me with a little shock, but his eyes glisten and I can tell that he's excited.
"Me and Iris will take lane 1." Devyn and Iris stand in front of their target.
"Me and Ash will take lane 2." I say while grabbing his arm.
"Isabella and I will be at 3." Brianna called.
"I'll watch." Sierra sat further away by some chairs.
"You guys start." Ash nodded towards Devyn.
Devyn gives a sly smile and grabs a dagger. She takes a deep breath. Her hair sits on her shoulders and her face looks perfectly sculpted. She throws the dagger and it hits inches away from the bull's eye.
"Not bad, but let me show you how it's done." I revealed. I walked over and grabbed a dagger. Taking one good look at the target, I let the dagger fly out of my hand. With a loud bang, it hits the bull's eye and I look over at Devyn. I can see the irritation building up on her forehead, and I loved it.
"My turn!" Brianna throws her dagger and she misses the whole target and we all break out into laughter.
"One more round! I want to see Andrea do her magic once again!" Ash gushed as he hands me another dagger.
"Of course. Stand right behind me."
"Behind you?" Ash looked confused.
"Just stand behind me, and with your hands, cover my eyes." I announced.
"Are you sure?" I turn around to look at him.
"Do it." I take one last look at the target and then all I can see is dark nothingness. With a split second's time I throw the dagger and hear it hit the board. Ash removes his hand for me to see.
"Bull's eye!" Everyone cheers while Devyn's eyes blazed with anger.
"Not bad. Not bad at all." Iris adds.
"Thanks. Years of practice." I shrug.
"Iris. Stand in front of the target." Devyn thundered. Everyone looks to her. Was she crazy?
"What-"
"Do you trust me?" She gives Iris a glare and Iris goes to stand in front of the target.
"Dev, stop." Ash yells out.
"Shhhh. Watch and see." Iris's head fell right below the bull's eye. Devyn grabbed the dagger and mutters something to herself. Then she lets it fly across the room until it hits the board. Iris grimaces at the near miss. She steps away to see that the dagger is placed right on the bull's eye, and some of her hair is nicked onto the board.
"What the fuck?" She says with a laugh and runs to Devyn for an embrace.
"So I think we can all agree that Isabella and Brianna are the losers?" Ash proposes.
"Yes. Definitely."
We play around at the gun range for a little while and Devyn aces it. Is there something she can't do? After that we headed to a restaurant together and grabbed a table. We ordered our food and engaged in small talk.
"Ew who eats mushrooms?" I say when I see a plate filled with them.
Devyn gives me a death stare, " I do," and she grabs the plate.
"Oh come on, don't yuck someone's yum." Sierra says playfully.
"It's okay. Not everyone has good taste. Ramos, I must say your taste is quite questionable." Devyn looks at me and then at Ash.
"Well, not all of us are born into palaces, with exquisite dining."
"Why are there not any mushrooms in district 5?" The table senses the tension between us, as they all go quiet.
"Oh come on, both of you get along for once." Isabella pleaded.
"Hey, there's nothing from my end. I could care less about-"
"Same here." I state.
"I'm only here for Ash." She says in a cold tone.
"And so am I."
"Well, that settles that. All of you guys are here for me, because I asked you all to come. Now please let's not ruin the evening." Ash suggested as he looked toward Devyn. Iris leans in and whispers something to her and a smile appears on her face. Oh how much I hate that smile. She lets Iris place her head on her shoulder. I don't understand what anyone saw in Devyn. She was selfish, over confident, stuck-up, and always so cold. I hated her.
