Denki Kaminari
•⊱—≬—⊰•

Awakened by the thunderous hammering of a fist against his door, Kaminari groggily forced himself out of bed as he sighed, "Hold your horses! I'm coming." He unlocked his dorm door to see Kirishima, who wore a grim, jittering expression. "Kiri? What—"

"Turn on the TV," Kirishima interjected. "Sorry I woke you up, but there was a serious crash...and it involved Todoroki."

"What?!" Kaminari gasped while desperately switching on his television and flipping to the news. His heart flopped and bucked, and his sweat felt like ice cubes pressed to his skin. "Is he okay? Who else was involved? Are they okay?"

The television displayed a female news reporter, a crumpled vehicle, and a road with ice and car parts strewn across it. "...and rammed into a young man that appears to have used his Quirk in an attempt to stop or reduce the impact of the vehicle. The two direct witnesses claim that they were saved by him, and are still incredibly shaken by this turn of events. This young man has been identified as Shoto Todoroki by appearance and the accommodation of a note on his person." An image of Todoroki appeared on the screen. "Seventeen years of age and standing at about six feet, this U.A. student was actually carrying what seems to be a suicide note with his signature at the bottom."

Kaminari and Kirishima stared at each other with mouths agape once "note" had fallen from the woman's lips.

"Because his note was intended to be seen by anyone that happened to stumble across it, we will be disclosing its content." An image of the note appeared on the screen. "The note reads: Not yet. Don't jump. The sky of liberty lies below, and it's almost torturous, I know. To continue fighting through another day, you struggle and fall, but isn't an end to it all just a step away? It's tempting and tasty, but it's a poison, you see. A painless death and afterlife is something you can't guarantee. Regardless of what you believe others to think of you, you'll still hurt those who chose the same path as you. Is it really a blessing to be eternally happy? To look at someone's suicide, and still want to smile? Don't you think that the dead still have a sense of their previous feelings? They'd welcome you, perhaps, but do you think they're happy that another victim of suicide has joined them? Would you be happy to watch countless victims of horrific lives file in? Even if we're all smiling up there, are we all really happy? Not yet. Don't jump. For our sakes, their sakes, and your sake, don't make my same mistake. Sincerely, Shoto Todoroki."

Oh my God, Kaminari inwardly sobbed as images of the sickening, raw damage that had been dealt to Todoroki materialized on the television. But he got hit! Did he see the opportunity and go for it? But... No. The lady and the kid said they were saved by him. So, he protected them? And he used his Quirk. This... This was purely an accident! Wait, but why was he hit?

Kaminari focused back into reality to hear the reporter say, "Todoroki is currently in the E.R., so the full extent of the injuries he's suffered is still unknown. However, this crash was near-fatal, and could still prove to be fatal. As for the driver that hit Todoroki, it turns out that this was yet another U.A. student from the same class as Todoroki."

"No," Kaminari gasped.

"This driver is Katsuki Bakugou, who was driving under the influence."

"Bakubro?!" Kirishima yelped.

At that point, Kaminari was unable to process everything that had transpired earlier that morning. He simply stared at the television in utter and absolute bewilderment and astonishment while his heart rammed against his chest and through his temples. A barrage of noxious, invasive emotions soured his expression and abraded his thoughts, but he stayed his tongue.
