Chapter Twenty; Keeping up appearances.

Despite Luke's friends knowing and being comfortable with him and Ashton, he still had to get around his mother, college and Ashton's job. They'd been almost caught a dozen times and Ashton couldn't keep risking his job. Luke had distracted himself in class again, doodling patterns on his work instead of actually doing it, "Luke are yo- Luke? Luke!" Ashton shouted,

"Huh? Wha-" Luke said as he jumped out of his daydream,

"Are you paying attention?"

"Uh, no, sorry A- Ahh, ow ow ow"

"What's wrong?" Ashton asked rushing to Luke's side, he forgot for a moment that he was teaching a class because his boyfriend was so much more important,

"I'm, okay, you should carry on teaching" Luke said widening his eyes, Ashton realised how obvious his concern was,

"No, well yeah I will, just go to the nurses office and stop distracting my class" he grumbled walking back to the front, Luke staggered out of class and took a deep breath as the door closed behind him, he put his stuff in his locker and replaced it with his homework books, Monday's were the worst because he was constantly assigned tons of assignments. He headed to the library and hid out there till the bell went and he knew everyone would be gone, he intended to start his work but ended up writing music.

Glancing at the time he noticed he'd been in there for two and a half hours after the bell went, "Shit, mum's gonna kill me" he muttered shoving papers into his bag, he ran round to his locker checking around corners to avoid being seen, he put the music sheets in his folder and shut his locker fast, as he spun round Ashton was stood in front of him, with a few steps forward Luke was backed up into the lockers, "Uh, hey, are you angry with me?" Luke asked putting his hands on Ashton's hips, "Why have you got your hood up?"

"It's raining out" Ashton whispered as he lent forward kissing along Luke's jaw line and neck, Luke tilted his head so Ashton could carry on and pulled him closer so their body's were close together,

"Uhh, Ash, wh-what are you, doing?" Luke said through heavy breaths, Ashton ran his hand down's Luke's sides, Luke grabbed his hands and switched them round so Ashton was pushed against the lockers, Luke pinned his arms by his sides and kissed him hard, passionately, for a moment they'd forgotten where they were, Luke broke it off when he heard footsteps and walked backwards a little, Ashton ran his fingers through his hair knocking his hood off,

"What's wrong?" he asked a very flustered Luke,

"I, thought I heard something"

"I gotta go, I'll see you tomorrow okay?" Ashton hurried off without so much as a goodbye a left Luke fairly confused.

Luke waited out front for his mother, she seemed to be taking her time picking him up and the rain was slowly soaking his clothes, he huffed and pulled out his phone, a text from Ashton pinged up on screen saying 'Turn around', Luke did as it said and he was greeted by Ashton's lips on his, "Uh, have I missed something?" Luke asked as the kiss ended,

"Want me to drive you home?" Luke smiled and nodded as he kissed Ashton again, he followed him to his car,

"Thanks for this" Luke said shutting the door,

"It's okay, hey I meant to ask, what the hell happened in class today? You're usually more focused?" Ashton asked turning in his seat,

"I don't know, I sorta just zoned out, and then I almost called you by your first name so I had to pretend to be in pain, I'm sorry, I'll make it up to you"

"How?" Ashton said as a smile crept onto the right side of his lips,

"Uh, like this?" Luke said as he lent across and kissed him, Ashton was taken back slightly but grabbed Luke's collar pulling them closer together, Luke ran his fingers through Ashton's hair tugging slightly as the kiss grew more passionate, Ashton's hands ran down Luke's chest and Luke's breathing hitched slightly, Ashton smiled through the kiss as Luke placed his hands on Ashton's cheeks, tracing small circles with his thumbs, the kiss ended abruptly when they heard the barrier to the car park slam down, they jumped slightly and looked around, Ashton instantly started shaking, the thought of getting caught made his heart race more than Luke did. When they knew the coast was clear they faced each other, Luke looked so innocent, like nothing had happened, his wide glistening eyes made Ashton's heart ache, he loved looking into Luke's eyes. "So?" Luke said softly,

"So..?" Ashton replied slightly confused,

"How did I do? Making it up to you I mean?"

"Perfectly" Ashton smiled as he put his seat belt on, "I should get you home" Luke nodded and smiled as he put his seat belt on too.

"Thanks for driving me home, I'll see you at college tomorrow" Luke said as he swiftly grabbed his bag and got out the car, before Ashton could say anything Luke had slammed the door, he was a little upset Luke didn't say anything else but he just shrugged, he was about to start the car when he heard knocking on his window, he rolled it down, "I almost forgot" Luke smiled as he lent in through the window and kissed him,

"See you later baby" Ashton smiled as Luke walked round the front of the car, he headed up the driveway and knocked on his front door.

"Luke, I was just about to come get you, did you walk home?" Liz said putting her coat on,

"No Ashton drove me" he pushed his way into the house and Liz followed,

"Why?" She asked,

"Because he's my tutor and we stayed late to do some work and stuff, when you didn't show he asked if I wanted a lift? No big deal"

"No big, no big deal?! He might have killed you!" Liz shouted,

"Mum, seriously, he's been in and out of this house for weeks, if he was gonna kill me he'd have done it by now" Luke laughed, he wanted to tell her, so badly, but he couldn't, they had to make everyone believe they were nothing, "Got homework, call me when dinner's done" he said rushing upstairs.

"You two spend a lot of time together" Liz shouted after him,

"He's my teacher, he's helping me catch up" Luke huffed back as he walked to the top of the stairs,

"Yeah but you're caught up now, so you don't need to be spending so much time together"

"He's my tutor too, helping me with the stuff I don't understand?"

"You don't need to be spending any more time with him, I'll call him tomorrow." Liz said walking away,

"You can't do that!" Luke shouted, "It's the only time we ever get to sp-"

"Get to what?" Liz asked suspiciously,

"Get to, work on my English work" he said softy, he'd given up arguing now, he knew it was no use.
