Chapter Two: The Moment.
Luke had gotten to college early that morning to try and avoid Calum and Michael, it was his second day and already he was terrified, he was sure college was supposed to be different, but it wasn't. He had English Literature for three lessons on a Tuesday, first, second and last. He headed to class in hopes that Mr.Irwin would already be there, maybe he'd let Luke sit in the classroom until the bell went. As he got to the class the door was open and he could see his teacher sat at his desk, Luke knocked lightly and got no response, he pushed the door open a little more and said,
"Umm, excuse me, sir?" he made him jump, Ashton chucked coffee all down the front of his white shirt and jumped up knocking the chair backwards,
"HOLY FUCK THAT'S HOT!" he yelled as he pulled the fabric away from his stomach,
"Oh god, I'm so sorry" Luke said walking into the classroom, "I'll just, here" he handed him some paper towels and a guilty look flushed his face,
"Thank you" Ashton said as he pressed them against his shirt, he was attempting to soak up the liquid from his shirt but it wasn't going to well, "Was there something you wanted?"
"Umm, yeah...No, no actually, I'll just, go" Luke said turning around, he was about to leave when Ashton stopped him,
"Trying to avoid the boys?" Luke turned around and nodded a little,
"I really don't wanna get bullied again, Sir" he said trying not to remember how painful it was in his last school,
"You can sit in here in the mornings, break times, lunch, any time you need. I don't teach many other classes so most of my free's are yours too, I can help you catch up on your work" he smiled at Luke and tried to reassure him that everything would be okay,
"Thank you sir, I'm really sorry about your shirt" Luke said as he walked round the desks and took his seat,
"It's no problem, I got a spare" Ashton laughed as he pulled a shirt out of his draw, he took his tie off and went to leave the room, "I'll be back in a sec, carry on reading" Luke nodded and pulled the tatty book out of is bag, he looked at Ashton's plain black tie on the desk and then back at his book. He didn't understand why he was thinking about his teacher so much, he assumed it was because Mr.Irwin was nice to him, and he was the youngest teacher he had so maybe it was the whole, 'connect on that level' thing? He wasn't sure, all he knew is that right now, Mr.Irwin was the only friend he had. "How's the reading coming?" Ashton asked as he walked back in the room,
"Jesus Christ, you scared me!" Luke said slapping his hand to his chest, Ashton laughed and threw the shirt on his chair, he picked up his tie and started to put it on, Luke was fascinated by the concentration on his face, Ashton looked up at him and Luke started smirking,
"What?" Ashton asked confused,
"You did your tie wrong" Luke smirked,
"What? Did I? Oh crap I did" he said looking down and fiddling with it again, "Oh, I'm sorry about my language by the way, I haven't been a teacher long so I'm not really used to this whole 'no swearing' thing yet"
"It's alright, I swear too" Luke said standing up, "Here, let me help you" he said as he undid Ashton's tie, Ashton moved his hands out the way and let Luke do it up again for him, he watched Luke's face carefully, a slight smirk crossed his lip and he bit his lip ring,
"Thanks" Ashton managed to say, Luke looked him in the eyes and smiled,
"No problem" he finished tying it and then set it right, "There you go" Luke said, instead of taking his hands away he trailed his fingers down the full length of the tie and dropped it so it fluttered back to Ashton's chest and stomach, it was a weird moment, not uncomfortable and awkward, just weird.
