fairytale land age 9:

i was sitting by myself by some barrels waiting for papa to get done with his 'business' but we both know that's a code word for you-know-what with a lady. and i decided to wander off,i came to a little secluded area and saw a couple of kids playing with sticks and a boy,a little older than me,playing with a ball,the ball goes in front of a carriage and he goes to get it but the carriage didn't stop

 "watch out!" i say and rammed into him,knocking us out of the way of the carriage,we stand up with nothing but scrapes on us and a little cut on my forehead 

"you alright?" i ask and he nods "thanks for that by the way and sorry about your head" he apologizes 

"it's fine" i smile and the carriage stops and a man walks towards us 

"hey! hey! what are you doing in the middle of the road? kids?"

 "we're sorry we-" the boy started  "hey i know you" he stared at the kid before palling "it's fine,it's fine,you know,it was the donkeys fault,you two want some chicken,or-or some eggs?" 

"we're alright" i say "yeah,and i should-" the boy was once again interrupted 

 "what's going on?" a voice asked from behind us and we turn to see a man step out,but he had...crocodile skin? 

"it's nothing i-it was my fault,i wasn't looking where i was going,but they said they're fine" the boy steps up "we're fine papa really" he assures 

"are you sure bae?" the strange looking man asks 

 "yes,we're fine right?" he turns to me and i nod my head 

"well i suppose it won't happen again..."

"it won't" the man quickly said 

"what's that?" he points to bae's leg and my forehead "it's nothing" we both say and the man says the same afterwards 

"da da da da don't...bother" then purple smoke surrounds the man and he turns into a snail 

"papa no,please papa don't" bae pleads but it's too late and he steps on the snail,everyone gasps and backs away. the man takes bae and starts walking away but he turns to me "thank you for pushing me out the way again,it would have been worse if you hadn't" he tells me and i smile 

"no problem,i'll see you around bae" i turn around but he calls out to me "wait,i never got your name!" i turn around "bailey,bailey jones" he smiles and i see the man tense and look at me before dragging bae away completely.

[...] 

"code red,code red" i heard on my walkie-talkie "henry what's up?" i ask "meet me and emma at granny's it's an emergency" "on my way" i say before hanging up 

i enter granny's and see emma already there with henry,i walk over and sit across from them "what's the emergency?" i ask and henry shushes me 

"be quiet" he whispered 

"why are we whispering?" i ask and look at emma "it's secretive" she answers 

"but we're at granny's in the open?" i say confused 

"that's what i said" was emma reply's and i nod my head "any way what are we talking about?" 

"someone changed the book" henry says

 "why would someone change the story?"i ask 

"to tell us something we need to know about the curse"
