Station 19 one shots

Reach - Maya Bishop

This one will be a little different as it is musical based. The idea for this came to me while I was watching the Reaching For Heaven (I don't know the artist) scene in Ice Princess. I might add to it in the future but this is it for now

Maya preferred to keep her personal life away from 19 mainly because her personal life would mean revealing her twin. Yes Maya has a twin, she was born two minutes after Maya and her parents named her Madeline but everyone called her Maddie. Maddie had a passion for music pacifically singing from early on, Maddie pursued singing and worked her but off for a singing scholarship at a young age. This paid off for her as she was steadily gaining notoriety under the name Maddie Paige (her middle name). Maya wasn't always interested in running in fact she didn't always like it, her passion was ice skating. She knew it was a soft sport but it was her passion till a bad fall took it all away from her, it was her third season while preforming a triple lutz she slipped on her skate and broke her hand and dislocated her knee. Her dad used this as an opportunity to get her into running and you know the rest. It was fuelled by Maya being to scared of the ice a fear she could and would of confronted if she had the chance.

The two twins maintained a close relationship until Maya won gold and they naturally drifted apart. They still remained close though. Maddie would turn to Maya for help as what Maddie said Maya was her 3D mirror and there dad never let Maya dress up or have fun in that sort of way so Maya loved being dolled up. On more than one occasion the two have switched places for whatever reasons it was fun until Maya became captain and has to focus on that for a little while. With more free time Maya confronted her fear of the ice and even practiced what she could remember on her own. She kept a pair of skates in her office in there bag just for the hell of it.

Just as things for Maya being captain settled in they got a call to a repair man at the ice rink be stuck. How you might ask? He was wearing a harness while repairing the stage lights but he fell and is now stuck above the ice. Maya took great interest in the call and grabbed her ice skates, she knew the owner would not let them wear there boots on the ice. "Where is the man ma'am?" "Dangling above the ice, but you are not wearing those on the ice," guesting to there work boots, "Why not?" "Because I just got the ice deep cleaned ready for a new season can you work on skates? Maya I see you've brought so common sense to the rescue," they turned to Maya switching her boots for the skates, "Only because I knew you were fussy about what goes on ice that and our work boots don't have the right grip to be on the ice without slipping." 19 watched Maya happily take her jacket and helmet off and step out onto the ice to lower the victim down. "Are you gonna stand there staring or what?!" She snapped, Vic face palmed as Andy and Jack shut Travis and Warrens jaws.

After getting the victim down Maya stood just inside the rink smiling brighter than they had ever seen before, "Maya you haven't stopped smiling since you got on the ice," Jack chuckled expecting someone to back him up, "He's right you know is there something your not telling us?" "Wait a sec how do you know the owner?" "Because she was one of my star skaters till she dropped out. I'll never forget you trying to teach Maddie how to skate, it was the funniest thing I ever did see." The two laughed over the good times just as a familiar song rang out over the speakers, Maya glanced to the owner a look of faith in her eyes. "This was your song Maya take the ice and skate with your heart," she was smiling brightly as she took the guards off her skates. 

Step after step she moved closer to the ice, the cool scraping radiated up her legs. It was a feeling she greatly missed, with the beat picking up she let go. Let go of all the fear and doubt and just skated. Her body remembered the moves. (Video linked above) 19 stared at there friend just skating her heart out. She was reaching for the sky, literally. But that smile. They had never scene Maya smile so much, she couldn't stop. "I haven't done that in years," Maya laughed changing her skates for there boots, "Maya wow, wow umm that was amazing," "Thanks I haven't skated in years," "I don't believe you," Andy laughed, "Believe me then. I've known Maya since she was 8. Hang on Maya I want you to have this," she handed Maya a framed photo. 19 watched her smile brighten but she tucked the photo away before they could see anything. 

Back at the station Maya was off in her own little world enjoying the amazing memories she had. Both of skating and of Maddie
