Barbarians Blood

Chapter 7

Willow sat alone at one of the few vacated docks. The sun had barely risen into the sky. When she woke up she didn't bother waking Sawyer up and letting him know she was going on a walk. With a sigh, she looks back down at the letter a young man handed her. It was addressed to her.

Willow,

It's good to hear that you are doing well. We are doing fine, but your parents a furious that you ran away again. Don't blame yourself for me losing my job. It was not your fault. I can't say I'm thrilled to hear that he's still alive, but if he makes you happy then I'm happy. Has he never celebrated birthdays or holidays? I would take it slow with him then if he hasn't, you don't want to push him too far and then regret it later. He's a pirate so I don't blame him if he doesn't know how to have fun... and you're WHAT!? When did you decide to sleep with him? Is he going to keep you along with the baby around once it's born? You know your parents would kill him if they find out you had a baby with him. It's normal to feel that way when you're a new parent. I felt that way for all three of my kids. Hopefully, you don't give birth on that boat. I'm happy to hear that he cares about your well-being, still don't trust the guy. The girls say hello.

She was happy to hear that Jacob was doing well. And she understood why he mentioned using another name if she continued sending him letters. If someone decided to read them before he got the chance, or if he was taken to the castle for questioning it would only be a matter of time before they came looking for her.

"Willow?"

Looking down at the water she saw Jack-o-lantern and the others. Their heads stuck out of the water looking up at her.

"Hey, guys," Willow said happily.

"Why are you sitting up there," Lighter fluid asked, "and why are you not on a boat?"

"Oh well we are docked here for a while," Willow answered," and pup is fixing the boat while we are here."

"How long have you been pregnant?" Christmas lights asked.

"Going on seven months," Willow said.

She sat there and talked to her four fish friends. Hours went by before she heard footsteps walking up behind her. Turning around she saw Sawyer. He was pissed.

"What the hell, Kitten," Sawyer snapped.

She looked up at the sky and realized she had stayed out longer than she had intended.

"I couldn't sleep," Willow said," I'm sorry."

"Then why didn't you wake me?" Sawyer asked trying to control his anger.

"I didn't want to wake you," Willow said.

She saw his lip twitch. She slowly got to her feet, expecting to be scolded and taken back to the hotel room. But she wasn't. He was no longer looking at her. His eyes had locked onto the four angular people bobbing in the water.

"Have a question for you four," Sawyer said.

"Hopefully we can answer it," Lighter fluid said.

"Have you ever heard of an angular person and a human having a child together?" Sawyer asked.

Now she was confused. Why would he ask something like that?

"No," three of the four angular people said.

"Why do you ask?" Glow sticks ask.

"Willow was thrown into the ocean sometime ago," Sawyer said," she changed and I swear I saw glowing spots under her eyes and gills."

Then it hit Willow. He was asking because of what happened when his brother threw her off the boat. Her hands and feet turned webbed like fins, she was able to breathe underwater, but she didn't realize she had glowing spots under her eyes.

"It's very uncommon, but not unheard of," Glow sticks said.

"Wait a minute, are you saying I could be part angular?" Willow asked.

"It's the only thing I can think of," Sawyer said.

"But wouldn't I have changed before the last time I was thrown into the ocean?" Willow asked.

Sawyer shrugged his shoulders.

"Willow do you have any family near angular cove?" Glow sticks asked.

Willow thought for a moment before answering," I believe my mother grew up in the kingdom near there."

"Is there a chance your mother could be part angular?" Sawyer asked.

"I don't know," Willow said with a shrug," my mother hates the water, so maybe."

"Well, only saltwater would turn you if you do have angular in your blood," Jack-o-lantern said.

"Another way you would know if when you started showing signs of being pregnant," Christmas lights said.

"What do you mean?" Willow asked.

"Well, female angular people don't start showing signs of being pregnant until they're about five to six months pregnant," Jack-o-lantern said, "of course they will be sick and tired most of the time."

Willow didn't know how she felt now. It was too much information for her to digest. A firm, gentle hand grabbed ahold of her shoulder. Looking at it then at Sawyer she could see the worry swimming in his eyes.

"Thank you for the information," Sawyer said," but we should be going now."

Wishing her friends a good day and said that they should talk again Willow let Sawyer lead her back to their hotel room. She was exhausted and hungry. Looking over at the little table she saw that there were a few pancakes.

"Eat them get some more sleep," Sawyer said.

She did as she was told. Sitting down she began to eat the now cold pancakes. Sawyer kissed her head, told her he was going back to the boat to work on it some more, and then left. After finishing the pancakes she grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. She was going to rest after she wrote back to Jacob.

Dear Jacob,

Thank you for the letter. Since the last letter, I sent you we have docked for the time being. Because of this, I have been less nauseous. Oh, and I hope you might be able to answer my question. My mother came from the kingdom near angular cove right? If so who are her parents, and by chance would you know if one of them were part angular?

Looking the letter over Willow contemplated whether she should send it or not. Finally deciding to send the letter, she got up and grabbed a few gems. Making her way to the post office she began to feel like she was going against Sawyer. She sent the letter and before heading back to the hotel room she stopped at a little bakery. She was craving some cupcakes. Buying half a dozen she went back to the hotel room. Pulling one out of the box she ate it then went to lay on the bed. She was bored out of her mind.
