Willow sat in the hospital room watching her baby getting passed around by the crew. Sawyer hadn't shown up yet, and she figured it was for the best. If he saw their child get handed off from one person to the next he would probably have lost it.
"Careful Doe," Treasure snapped," you nearly dropped her!"
Correction, he would have gone ballistic.
"Okay, I think that's enough manhandling my baby," Willow said," give her back."
Treasure reluctantly handed Willow her child. As soon as the baby was back in her arms she started to squirm. It only took a few minutes before Willow got her baby to settle down again.
"So have you and Sawyer thought of a name?" Violet asked.
"I haven't seen him yet today," Willow said," and we had been trying, but none of the names we came up with fit."
"I'm sure you'll come up with something," Eleanor said.
"I hope so," Willow said staring down at the little black-eared baby.
A soft knock on the door alerted everyone. Heads turned to look at the newcomer. A nurse stood in the doorway smiling at them.
"I'm sorry to tell all of you, but it's time that you let them rest," the nurse said," only the father can stay."
"Well, daddy dearest isn't here yet," Treasure mumbled.
"I'm sure there is a good reason why he isn't here," Willow said with a nervous laugh. She was hoping she was right. She didn't know how he felt about being a father now. Neither one of them had a good example of how a parent should be. Sawyer especially didn't. As she watched her friends leave she couldn't help but worry. What if he decided to leave her? What if he just wanted her and got rid of their daughter. But as everyone left the room, the nurse let someone else inter.
"Sorry if I made you worry, kitten," Sawyer said taking a seat beside the bed.
She couldn't help but let out a breath of relief," it's okay."
"So have you picked out a name?" Sawyer asked.
"No," Willow said," and where were you?"
"I went back to the hotel to get a few more hours of sleep," Sawyer said.
"Pup, that was yesterday," Willow said," how long did you sleep?"
"... Apparently longer than I thought," Sawyer said.
Willow looked at him in concern. Had he really just woken up and got here? Or was he lying to her?
"Pup, are you sure your okay?" Willow asked.
"Yeah, I'm perfectly fine," Sawyer said," why do you ask?"
"Maybe we should have a doctor check you over," Willow suggested.
She was getting a look from Sawyer that told her he didn't like that idea. She couldn't blame him either, after all, he didn't take to listening to a doctor's orders very well.
"Please," Willow begged," for me and the baby."
She watched as Sawyer opened and closed his mouth repeatedly. Finally, he threw his hands up in the air in his way of saying he gives up. Happy with winning Willow waits until she saw another nurse walking past the room. When one finally walked past she called out to them.
"Yes?" The male nurse asked.
"Is there a way to get my husband checked?" Willow asked," he hasn't been sleeping or eating very well."
The male nurse looked over at Sawyer. Sawyer was glaring at him, but that didn't seem to bother the man.
"Sure, I'll send a doctor in when one has the chance," the male nurse said.
Willow thanked the man, and he left the room. She turned to look at Sawyer who was glaring at her.
"What?" Willow asked. She was confused about why he looked angry.
"Did you have to tell him that?" Sawyer asked.
"About what?" Willow asked.
"Me not sleeping and eating very well," Sawyer said. She could tell he was trying his best to hold back his anger. He always did when it came to her.
"They would need to know," Willow said.
Sawyer just grumbled and sat back in his chair. He had crossed his arms over his chest. Willow couldn't help but laugh. He was acting like a child.
"So do you want to hold your daughter, or are you just going to pout?" Willow asked.
She watched as Sawyer's eyes light up at the mention of holding his daughter. But she also saw the hesitation.
"You're not going to hurt her from just holding her," Willow said.
She saw him finally gave in with his internal battle. He moved closer and took the baby. Once the baby was safely in his arms Willow watched him sit back down and just look at his daughter. She smiled softly at them, and it grew when she saw a small smile on Sawyer's face.
"Excuse me, but I was told to stop in here to examine someone," a doctor said.
"Yes, it would be my husband," Willow said.
Sawyer stood and handed their baby back to her. Then turned to look at the doctor. Willow was sure he was going to protest and claim that he was fine. But he surprised her by not saying a word.
"Well then, if you don't mind answering a few questions," the doctor said.
Sawyer just stared at the man.
"Okay, so how long have you not been able to sleep?" The doctor said.
"A while," Sawyer said.
"His brother has kidnapped me twice, and both times he has not gotten a lot of sleep," Willow explained," this last time has been hard for him to rebound back."
"Okay, and what about eating?" The doctor asked," how often do you miss a meal?"
"Depends," Sawyer said.
"Again goes back to me being kidnapped," Willow explained," but I've had to make sure he eats, well before I had our daughter."
"And what about you Mrs. Dane?" The doctor asked.
"What about me?" Willow said she didn't understand.
"Well from what you have said your kidnapping has affected your husband, but you haven't said how it affected you," the doctor said.
"I mean when it first happened I was paranoid," Willow said," I was always looking over my shoulder and stayed as close to my husband as I could."
"And the second time?" The doctor asked.
"I don't think I've really bothered to let it bother me," Willow confessed," I was more concerned with keeping my at the time unborn baby safe."
"Well, I can prescribe you both with some medications," the doctor said.
"No," Sawyer said," that will not be necessary."
The Doctor looked at him. Willow understood why Sawyer said no. They live on a boat and can't rely on medications to help her stay calm or him to sleep.
"Sir it would -" the doctor was cut off.
"I don't give a fuck what you're about to say," Sawyer snapped," we are perfectly fine."
The doctor getting the hint that he was not wanted or going to be listened to. So Willow watched the man walk out of the room.
"What about Dawn?" Willow asked.
