"You sure you need training I mean you just beat Franklin." Simon complained as I took a sip of water. "Who the hell have you been training with?" I shrugged and put the water bottle down getting back into my ready position.
"How's it going in here?" Jeffery asked looking from me to Franklin.
"She just whipped ass." Simon laughed and Franklin groaned in discomfort holding his stomach. I bent down next to him and helped him up and moved him to the bench.
"I got your first victim." Jeff nodded.
I nodded telling him to give me the details. "His names Victor Miles, he's a warlock. Specializes in black magic. Their offering fourteen pounds of gold." I nodded. "Okay now let's go size up your suit." He said grabbing my sweaty bicep.
~
"There you go." Henry said stepping down from the stool. I nodded and patted the frail old mans back he giving him a smile.
I studied myself in the rotating mirror. I smiled looking him directly in the eyes and bowing to him. I showed him respect he deserves the recognition.
"Jeffery wants to take a look at you dear. You should go." I nodded, stepped down and exited the small chamber.
I walked the dimly lit hallways. "Long time no see huh?" I turned and glanced at my Elven friend who leaned against the wall.
I sighed and gave an awkward salute. I eyed the long gash that extended from his bicep to his elbow. He flexed his muscle taking a look for himself quickly and dropping it.
"So what's goin' on?"
I shrugged.
No need for specifics.
"How's training been? Over there I mean?"
I nodded. He stalked over to me intimidatingly and pinned my arms to my sides.
"I've been waiting to do this for a while." He said lowering his face to mine.
"Tate! Keen's in trouble and me and you are going to get him." Gerald shouted coming around the corner. "And Jeffery is in a very irritable mood because of your tardiness." He scolded yanking Tate off of me. "I'd suggest you get there now. We all have places to be." He said bucking at Tate.
I nodded and rounded the corner Franklin stood in front of Jeffrey's office doors. "Go in." He said stepping to the side.
I gave him a curt nod and turned the knob. "Take a seat dear." He had completely refurnished the office since the last time I was here. Which was two years ago. "How does the suit feel I upgraded some of the little things, had Henry redo the seeming." I nodded.
I nodded and picked up a notebook writing; 'You summoned me?'
"Yes dear, I heard that Tate and Gerald had to go get Keen, so you and Leo are going." He stated leaning back in the chair.
'The halfling?' I wrote raising an interested eyebrow. 'isn't he just an intern?' I asked.
"Yes but he's grown, about an inch in the past two years." He stated serious.
I wrote 'Fine' on the paper slammed it on his desk and stormed out.
~
"When is something eventful going to happen?" He asked again. I fought the urge to turn and slap the damn idiot.
We were camping out across the street from the Warlocks house. He lives in the city and disguises himself as human doesn't have a very eventful life from what I've seen though.
Things will be like this for a few days before I pull a stunt. It's all planning, practice, and strategy.
"Let's go." The kid whispered. Since when do the midgets give orders around here?
I yanked him by the collar hard sending behind me. I pointed to myself and took the lead heading back to the cove. No fourteen year old is beating me in my own game.
We walked back into the cave entrance sliding into the hard floor and into the living area. "Hey what's up?"
I shrugged and pointed to the little person standing at my hip. "Keen wants to see you." Gerald said cutting off Tate. "He's in the infirmary with Jessa." I nodded the nurses name making me smile a bit.
I walked down the hallway and opened the door where the bright light streamed from. "Damn it Jessa!" I saw Keen clutching the bedsides so hard his knuckles turned white as Jessa trailed the needle and thread down his leg.
I leaned against the wall an amused smile on my face waiting for Jessa to do so. She moved out the way giving me a sad smile and gesturing to Keen whose leg had a long bandage wrapped around it along with his foot.
"Hey, sorry you had to see that." I shrugged looking at my hybrid friend. His mother was an Siren and his father a vampire, how that's possible don't ask me.
I shrugged and sat on the chair nearest to him. "Aw c'mon I won't bite." He joked making me smile just the slightest. "Why aren't you talking?" I mouthed 'can't' and he made an 'O' shape with his lips. "In the two years you've been gone have you found anything interesting, say something like a mate?" He asked genuinely curious.
I froze in my spot staring at him as if he were some kind of idiot. "Gale?" He asked pulling a hand to my face and turning it to look me in the eyes.
I slowly nodded and put my fingers over my mouth telling him he can't tell anyone. Then drew a finger over my neck, saying they'd kill him. "Your secrets safe with me. Now go to sleep you as Tate are leaving early." I nodded and strode out of the mini hospital and up to my room.
This is gunna be a long night.
