"Hey Darius." I walked down the hallway following him. "Darius." He was supposed to be going to a meeting. "Darius will you stop?" And I want to go with him. "Can I come?" He kept walking ignoring me before slamming the door in my face and jogging down the driveway.
Son of a bitch.
"Momma." I looked over at Cam who tried to stand up unsuccessfully. So far All except for Peyton have said their first word. Cams was mommy. Jace's was mommy. Jax's was mommy. Beau's was mommy. Not my fault their father spent little to no time with his children let alone me.
Hasn't said a single word to me since I left him in that damned hospital bed. And that was a month ago. "Hey baby." I swept Cam off the floor and heard the front door open and close.
"Hey Hun." Diane smiled me and picked up Jax and Beau. Michael picked up Peyton and Jace.
"Hi." I bounced Cam up and down on my hip.
"What's going on with Darius? Stomped out like a mad man." Michael asked taking a seat on the couch.
"Don't know. Hasn't talked to me in a month." I shrugged.
"Well how's the pup?"
"Went to the doctors yesterday," without Darius may I add. "They said the pup was doing good."
"Do you know the gender?"
"I'm only about two months and a week in." I turned to face them and Cam cooed in my arms speaking gibberish to no one. "Can I talk to you Michael?" I raised an eyebrow he gave me a subtle nod and walked behind me into the movie room.
"Yes?"
"I want to know exactly how you feel about me. You could hate me for all I know but you need to tell me what you see me as." He was quiet for several moments probably pondering carefully on what to say.
"You're very unique." He paused. "Self reliant and headstrong. Independent yet curious, mischievous, secretive, and righteous in your own way. I have gotten to know you on a more personal level and I'm surprised that you're able to tolerate my son. I'm thankful that you've decided to stick around and I think you'll be a good addition to the family and pack." I gave him a polite smile before running into his firm chest sideways not to crush any of the boys.
"Thank you." I hugged him and after several moments he hesitantly patted and rubbed my back.
"And do us all a favor. Drop the weights you make me feel pathetic." He laughed and pulled us apart. "And I know exactly how to get Darius's attention." He smiled deviously.

"Darius." I rolled over on the couch I had been sleeping on in the bedroom. He kept his back to me so I pulled the covers up around my neck and set my feet on the cold hardwood. "Darius please just talk to me." I begged hovering over his form. He shifted away from me moving towards the center. "Darius."
"Go to sleep Gale that's what you wanted to do right?" He asked irritated. I bent over his figure leaning on the bed.
I kissed his stubble on his chin then down his neck slowly feeling him shiver. "I went to the doctors yesterday. The pup is doing okay. It's only one." I said in between kisses. "First ultrasound and you missed it." I said sadly.
"Babe-"
"But that's okay because all I want to do is sleep." I mimicked pushing up and off the bed. I walked back over to the couch and laid down. I laced my fingers together and placed them on my practically flat stomach. I closed my eyes and turned over on my side thinking.
"I've been a jerk I know." Darius's voice broke the rooms silence. "It's just so frustrating thinking about when you left me in the sterilized room alone that night."
"It wasn't you I swear something had happened earlier that I'd rather not speak of right now." I turned over again. "But I'm sick of the cold shoulder shit you're giving me."
"Now you know how it feels." I could hear the smirk in his words. "But just come get in bed." His voice weary.
"I really should keep my space."
"Gale, just get your ass in the bed and lay down." I shrugged and got up. Can't fight that. I sat on the far side of the bed. "What are you doing?" Darius's arms slid around me and pulled me into his chest. "Thats much better." He kissed my head. "I'm really sorry I'm trying to be better. I can tell you're trying too. We'll talk more tomorrow." I nodded and buried my face in his chest. "Goodnight Angel."
