"Lay your ass back down." My voice was hoarse and I grabbed onto Darius's wrist.

"Princess I have to go." He told me and my nails dug into his skin.

"Lay back down."

"Cupcake-"

"You can't just make love to me then leave the next morning. I hate it when I have to wake up alone, I can't leave but you can, it's hypocrisy." He groaned in frustration.

"I'm sorry. But I have to go." He plucked my fingers off and left the room after kissing my forehead.

Man I hate him.

I slowly rubbed my mark in circles before having the courage to sit up and change into some workout clothes. My lower body is as sore as it gets but I'll have to deal. I walked into the babies room and made three trips grabbing the kids and putting them in a pack-in-play in the gym. They each sat quietly falling back asleep while I worked out for multiple hours.

"Buttercup I'm back." Darius' voice rang from the front door. I looked over at the clock: 11:47. I've been working out for five hours. "Gale?" Darius's panicked voice rang through the house and I continued punching the bag getting angrier.

No good.
Selfish.
Self seeking.
Bastard.
Of a mate.

I heard the relieved sigh from the door. "Didn't you hear me calling you?" I ignored him. And punched harder.

No good.

"Gale, answer me."

Selfish.

"Gale we aren't doing this again."

Self seeking.

"Remember this?" He wrapped his arms around my waist and whispered in my ear.

Bastard.

"We can just-"

Of a mate.

I elbowed him in the ribs and he let go of me. I continued punching the bag and it swung as far as it would and I kicked it.

"Kitten what's wrong?"

Your damn ass that's what's wrong.

"Gale your scaring the shit out of me say something." He pleaded grabbing my arms restraining me. I struggled in his arms and he turned me to look at him. I stared him in the eyes. "What did I do?"

"You left me." Why does that sound so familiar.

"That's not fair you left me multiple times in the past." He threw up his hands.

"I had my reasons you don't even tell me why you disappear every morning before I wake up."

"Neither did you!"

"It was under different circumstances!" I shouted getting in his face.

"How? How was it under different circumstances, you were mine I was yours and you left me!"

"I didn't love you then!" I yelled louder and listened to the crying that had escalated in the corner. I walked past shaking my head and grabbed Jax and Cam from the pack and play and walked out the room. I went to the living room and my jaw dropped looking at the pile of presents.

I just walked past them and sat on the couch with the teary eyed babies. I hugged them close. "We were just talking. It's okay." I bounced them up and down gently getting them quiet.

"I'm sorry." I looked up at Darius who leaned against the wall with the other three in his hands. He crossed the room and sat next to me staring straight ahead. "I should've just stayed." He sighed. "It's just work. You can come to the next meeting if you want." I looked over at him and his silver orbs stared back at my brown ones. "I can't even really sense you now because-," he cut himself off scared as if he let out the biggest secret in the world.

"Because what?" I stared him down. "Darius tell me."

"Your wolf isn't there. She's recovering from the beating still. My wolf is keeping a close eye on her but she's not in any condition to communicate with."

"So I'm just-why could I shift- I mean how could I?" I placed the babies where I was sitting and sprinted for the door.

"Gale." He grabbed me by the waist and pulled me back before I could reach the knob. "Not again." I turned into his chest and let the tears flow. He picked me up an arm under my butt, me still balled up crying like a child. "Princess you're okay." He whispered sitting on the couch.

I shook my head and he stroked my hair. "Darius we still up for-?" Logan walked in stopping dead in his tracks and I burrowed deeper in his chest.

"Not now." I shook my head and pushed up off his chest. "What are you doing?" I shook my head again and climbed off him. I wiped my eyes repetitively with the backs of my hands. I walked out the living room and back into the gym.

I stepped on the treadmill and turned it up to 10mph. I'm gunna try to run away from my problems again. Run just like I did from everything.

"It's not healthy you've been on that thing for over two hours." I shook my head.

"I'm fine Darius." I gritted out.

"Don't shut me out now Gale. You literally cried on my shoulder."

"Don't remind me." I jogged on the equipment.

"Babe-"

"Darius now really isn't the time for this." He stopped the machine and pulled me off setting me on the ground.

"You can't pretend like none of it happened."

"Watch me." I turned back to the treadmill.

"You can't run from your problems Gale."

"How would you know what it's like to have to run?!" I yelled. "You don't know why it's like to be beaten!" I shouted and lifted my shirt showing my sports bra. The scared look in his face was vivid.

"I try not to look to long." He said tearing his eyes up to my face. "But you're just too beautiful." He reached for my hand and I turned pulling my shirt back on.

"I just want to be alone Darius." I shook my head turning my back to him.

"Talk to me." I felt his form looming over me.

"What is there to talk about?"

"Everything." He grabbed my hands and put them on my stomach. "Let's just talk, it doesn't matter what it is. Just communicate with me."

"Dar-"

"Please. Logan has the kids."

"You know-"

"Please."

"But I just-"

"Gale, please." His thumb rubbed over my knuckles. "If it makes you uncomfortable you can change the subject." I sighed at his persistence on getting me to talk to him.

"Everything?"

"And anything." He agreed.

"We should probably sit down."
