Liam was leaning against a tree around some old ruins not that far from his place. He got a call from Stefan asking to meet him and Elena by the ruins of the Salvatore family estate and he knew it meant that Stefan was telling Elena everything and clearly wanted Liam to tell her about him and the others.

"What's Liam doing here?" Elena frowned when they walked up and saw the man standing there. "I called him. He's like me, a vampire." Stefan said and Liam sighed slightly. So much for being more careful. He thought.

"Okay...you knew Katherine in 1864?" Elena asked Stefan, "Damon made it seem like..."

"Damon was trying to make you think that...I was still heartbroken. He saw that I was happy with you, and he wanted to ruin it." Stefan said. "All because you loved the same woman 145 years ago?"

"She wasn't just any girl."

"A girl that enjoyed tormenting Willow." Liam said as he frowned. "Wait, Willow knew her too?" Elena asked him and he nodded. "Selene and I did as well. Way before Stefan and Damon met her."

"What happened?"

"Willow knew someone that was after Katherine and she thought Willow would find her so what she did was send people after Willow and they hurt her."

He wasn't going to go into details about what happened because he didn't like thinking back on the memory, of seeing how broken Willow could be.

1864

Willow was unloading a wagon that had shipments of supplies from her contacts. Liam had offered to do it but she needed something to distract her mind, not long ago she had crossed paths with Katherine, someone she never thought she'd see again or wanted to and even worse she's had to see Damon fall for Katherine.

He and Stefan had pretty much stopped conversing with her and Selene, both making promises to the girls and not being able to keep them. They had discussed the idea of leaving to Liam, Willow's reason for being there had led to a dead end so there wasn't really anything keeping her there, she had already come to terms that Damon would never return her affection and they couldn't stay in one place for too long so why not?

"Those look heavy." Willow placed a crate down before looking up to see Katherine standing there. "What do you want?" She asked, climbing onto the wagon. "Is that anyway to greet an old friend?"

"We're not friends. Especially considering you're using the Salvatore brothers as food sources. Do you enjoy playing with their feelings?" She glared at the woman.

She saw the evidence on their necks and as much as she wanted to say something she couldn't without the risk of getting caught by the Council.

"You're just jealous I could do something you and Selene couldn't."

"Why can't you just pick other people? It doesn't have to be them." Willow said. "What if I don't? You can't tell anyone or them, they'll never believe you and that's exactly why you haven't said anything."

Willow frowned but looked away, she hated that Katherine hit the nail, she knew humans were the same, you tell them something like 'I'm a vampire' and they'll run away in terror and that's the last thing Willow wants.

"Just leave them alone."

"I would but then I see you like this and I just want to carry on doing it. Emotional struggle is so much better than physical torment." Katherine smirked before walking off and Willow sat on the edge of the wagon and placed her head in her hands.

Liam, Stefan and Elena walked through the ruins with the two telling Elena about Katherine back in 1864. From what she gathered from the things Liam told her, Willow was the most tormented by Katherine's presence up to the point it broke her after she left with Selene and Liam.
