Oliver's POV
I couldn't believe I was standing here with the Scottish National quidditch team scouts at the moment. I knew that one day soon all my hard work for tis sport would pay off, and I couldn't believe the day had actually arrived.
"Hello, Oliver. My name is Scott Wandlock and I am the head scout for the Scottish National Team. It is an honor to be speaking with you today! I was thoroughly impressed by your work today. You exhibit great leadership skills and we are looking for just that to add to our team next year!" I couldn't believe my ears. I responded with " Thank you sir, but I couldn't have done it without my co-captain, Michelle smith." I pointed in her direction and his eyes lit up when he saw her. "Merlin's beard, is that Michelle Smith, Brandon Smith's sister?" I nodded and smiled. "If I do say so myself, I believe she has talent to rival her brother. She played fantastic today. Were those moves all your idea today?" I smiled and said, "No, sir. All of our planning and playbook happens together. I have never seen another captain with such intensity. She is brilliant." He looked shocked.
"Right, well I have something to propose to you regarding you and Ms. Smith. Before I talk to her, I want to run it by you if that's alright. I want to offer you the captain spot on our new Scottish National team, as all of our current players are out of eligibility. Is that something you would be interested in, Mr. Wood?" I was so excited and nodded my head vigorously. I am finally achieving my life long goal of becoming a professional Quidditch player! "I would be absolutely honored, sir. Thank you! What is it you would like to run by me regarding Michelle, sir?"
" Ah, as for Ms. Smith, I would like her to be the first ever woman player for the Scottish Nationals team, and would like to offer her the co-captain position along side of you, if that is alright! Do you think that is something she would want to do?" I just smiled and said "Well, I can't answer for her, but I am sure she would be delighted to hear your proposal."
When I looked up, my beautiful girl was stalking towards us, as I was beckoning her over to where Mr. Wandlock and I stood.
MICHELLE'S POV
I was so shocked to be standing with the coach of the Hollyhead Harpies. Before I even got the chance to speak, though, she began saying " I thank you for taking the time to talk to me. That was quite an interesting performance you had today. I have never seen someone pull off those types of plays." I smiled politely at her and said thank you, but I couldn't have done it without my team. " She pursed her lips and said "Right, well I am not interested in your team. Quite frankly I am not really interested in you coming to play for me either. I do, however, have a proposal for you." My face instantly fell. "Excuse me for asking, but what do you mean? Were you not satisfied with how I played this morning?" She snorted at me and said " No, dear. You are pretty talented, but you could never compare to the talent of your brother. Quite frankly, I have ladies on my team that could fly circles around you. So, no. I am not impressed with you at all. You will not play for me, however, I want the exclusive rights to all of your plays that you make. Instead of having you play for me, I would like you to write plays for my team. This is a great deal, and I highly suggest you don't pass it up."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This woman just insulted my ability to play the sport I loved, and has the audacity to tell me that I will be writing plays for her? I don't think so. "Right, well, I do not mean to be cross, but I do not appreciate the way you are talking to me. If I have no value to you as a player and you wont even consider me good enough to play for you there is no way in HELL I will write your plays. I know my worth and I know I have been compared to my brother my whole life. I know I have what it takes to play this sport and if you refuse to believe that, you can forget it."
She was utterly shocked. I could tell that no one had truly rejected her before. After a moment, she pursed her lips and said "Fine, but you'll see. You will never play professional quidditch. You are just not good enough. " With that, She turned and walked out of sight.
As I started to walk away, I couldn't help but feel liberated. I know I should feel defeated, but I was just proud for sticking up for myself. With my head held high, I started walking towards the locker room when I saw Oliver and the Scottish National scout calling me over to them. What do they want to talk to me about?
