Another Life to Lose

Serina and Melanie sat on the couch,the room lit and the sun slowly setting out the window. Melanie's head was hanging as she began to process it all, and Serina trying to comfort her best as she knew.

"Mel- I know this is a lot to take in-"
Axle spoke, walking over with a small glass of water. Melanie glared up at him, taking the water with a scoff.

"Yeah, no fucking shit Sherlock... It's a lot-"

' Mel-bell... '
Serina went to speak but Melanie glared at her.

"No, no... You don't get to nickname me right now. What the fuck, they're devil's! Devil's!! They're fucking real?!"

Mel then stood up and started walking towards the door after downing the water, then stopped and turned.

"I mean... Jesus Christ! You're, dating a devil! And I'm talking to a devil Hunter!"

' Yeah, look. They said they would send them off on another case, and not kill them- '
Serina stood up as well, holding her hands in front of herself.

' Shit Mel, I don't like it either- no offense babe- '

"None taken-"
axle chuckled and nodded to his girlfriend, then looked at Melanie.

"Look, it'll all be okay. We, don't hurt people.. We just, do deals-"

"ONE OF YOU WERE IN MY FRIEND!! How the FUCK are we supposed to tell her-"
Melanie just pulled on her hair a bit and huffed.
"I can't... I can't do this shit... And you're going to send off the guy I'm talking to?!"

"I- just until we clean up, then we'll be moving out of state, but not far..."

' Babe... '
Serina furrowed her brows.

"Baby, I'm caught between both of you... I mean, I wanna keep your best friend happy, but I also wanna be with you... I just-"
Axle sighed and covered his face with his hands.

Melanie walked over and sat on the chair.
"Look, I just... I need to think for a bit okay- I can't just.. I just don't know what the fuck to do now..."

They all sat together. Serina and Axle holding hands on the couch, and Melanie covering her face with her hands. Axle then looked from Serina to Mel and nodded.
"I'll do what I can, I won't do anything to him. You just, can't say anything..."

Melanie looked a bit frustrated, but took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
"No, don't worry about it... I just-"

A small melody came from Mel's pocket, Melanie quickly picking up, and set the phone to her ear.
"Hello? Kyle? What, what's going on? What do you mean Jacobs freaking out? Where's Robert? Hello? Kyle, calm... Kyle!"

Melanie stood up, grabbing her bag then started walking to the door, Axle watching and Serina quickly following.
' Mel, what's going on- '

"Okay, okay I'll be there in a second-"
Melanie hung up and huffed.

"Roberts gone out and hasn't been back in a bit, Jacob won't stop freaking out... I need to go find him..."
Melanie paced but then went straight for the door, Axle and Serina quickly following behind.

"What can we do? I can help scan the town-"
Axle put an easing hand on Melanie's shoulder, Mel quickly pushing him off.

"No, stay here.. We don't need him finding out it's you-"

' He's trying to help, just let him... Okay? '

Melanie looked back and forth at both of their concerned faces, Mel then nodded and huffed.
"Fine, come on-"
