Nash POV
I woke up to Laura whimpering in her sleep. I checked the time on my phone and it read 6:23 a.m. "Laura." I whispered to her. She didn't move an inch. "Calliope, it's time to get up." I said a bit louder, shaking her this time. She woke up looking terrified. I pulled her into my arms tightly and she immediately relaxed.
"Are you hungry?" I asked her gently. She nodded so I stood up, pulling her with me. She stood up and followed me to the kitchen. I moved to the fridge to grab everything I needed and set the items on the counter.
"Why don't you go shower while I make breakfast?" I offered her "Sure. Where's your bathroom?" She asked me quietly. I pointed to the door next the the sink and she went in, shutting the door softly behind her.
I started making french toast for us when my phone started ringing. I walked over and answered it after seeing it was David. "Hello?" I answered. "Do you know why Ezra is limping?" He asked me angrily. "No. Should I?" I answered, clearly lying. I flipped the french toast over and started putting things away. "Well when I asked Ezra she told me to ask you." He angrily told me. "Can I talk to you when I get to school? I've kinda got a lot going on right now." I told him as I pulled the french toast off of the pan and into two separate plates. "Sure. Whatever." He said, clearly pissed off, before ending the call.
I poured a small amount of maple syrup on my breakfast and waited for Laura to get out. About 3 minutes later she walked out in just a towel. I found myself checking her out. Her body was absolutely beautiful. She had curves but they weren't exaggerated.
She walked into the bedroom and shut the door as if someone else lived here. I mean, somebody else did live here but he was on a vacation for about a month. She walked out about 5 minutes later in a Sleeping With Sirens t-shirt and a pair of ripped black jeans. She also had a pair of black combat boots on.
She sat down at the table with me. "You didn't have to wait for me." She said with a smile. "It's no problem." I told her honestly. She folded her french toast in half and started eating hungrily. I laughed at her as I dug into my own food.
She looked at me curiously. "Why are you laughing at me?" She asked after she had finished eating. "You just devoured three pieces of french toast in three minutes." I told her. "Without maple syrup." I added quickly. "Well I don't like maple syrup. And I didn't eat anything after lunch yesterday." She told me with a grin. "You live in maine and you don't like maple syrup?!" I asked her in disbelief. "Nope. I hate it." She admitted. "Now let's get ready for school." I did as she instructed and went to get dressed.
I threw on a dark red long long sleeve and some black pants, along with some black converse. I walked out with my backpack and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth.
My bathroom is small though so me and Laura were basically pressed up next to each other. I brushed my teeth and as I turned to leave the bathroom, I bumped into Laura. She lost her balance and started to fall. I caught her and she looked up at me, blushing at how close we were. I leaned in to kiss her but before my lips could meet hers, she turned her head. I kissed her cheek and walked out of the bathroom.
Why was she being so distant all of a sudden? I grabbed two waters and her bag and stood by the door waiting. She walked out of the bathroom and over to the door. She reached for her bag but I held on tighter. "Logan. Give me my bag." She demanded, reaching for the bag again. I moved it away from her and started walking out the door. She followed closely behind me.
We walked out of the building and I put in one of my headphones, offering her the other one. She took it and I pressed play on my music. Get scared started playing and I nodded my head to the beat as we started walking. School was only about fifteen minutes by foot.
I looked over at Laura and I noticed that she was humming to the music too. 'Look oh look around you're lost but never found oh!' My music cried. She looked at me with a look of guilt. "What?" I asked her. "I'm sorry about this morning." She apologized. "Calliope, look at me," I told her and stopped walking. She looked at me with a bit of guilt. "It's fine. I'm not mad. I'm just a little confused. You've been opening up to me and then all of a sudden you're distant. I don't mind but I need communication." I told her honestly.
"I'm sorry. I just got scared." She replied. We continued walking. "Scared of what?" I asked her. Was she scared of me? "Scared of falling for someone. My dad fell for my mom and look at how that turned out." She said. I don't think she meant to tell me the second half of that.
"What happened to your mom? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." I asked her. "My mother killed herself after years of depression. My father and I knew she was depressed but he refused to believe it. I guess you could say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree when it comes to depression." She told me, laughing dryly at the end.
"Now enough of that topic. What about you? What's the deal with your dad?" She asked me curiously. We were about three minutes away from the school now. "My dad was abusive and I left after he killed my sister." I told her, tears welling up in my eyes. "He didn't got to jail?" She asked me. "For the right price you can get away with anything." I told her. "He's been trying to get me to move back in ever since." I felt so compelled to tell her these things and I cant figure out why.
She turned and before I could do anything, she pulled me into a tight hug. I tried to pull away from her but she pulled me right back and kissed me. Right in front of the school.
I kissed her back and pulled her closer to me. Someone whistled and a few others cheered right after. She pulled away, clearly embarrassed. I laughed as we walked into the school.
I walked her to her locker and handed her her bag and a water. "I'll meet you at your locker at the end of the day." I told her. "See you later Calliope." I added with a grin, walking to my locker.
David was leaning against it with a scowl on his face. "So what the fuck happened?!" He said angrily. "I got into a fight with Alex and Ezra jumped in. She did a lot of damage to him too." I said with a grin. Just as I said that, Alex stormed down the hall with a broken nose, busted lip, and a black eye. He glared at me but didn't say anything as he walked by.
"David! David!" Kelly yelled as he ran down the hall towards us. He gave David a quick kiss before talking. "I just heard that Nash and that new girl Laura kissed right in front of the school!" He said excitedly. "Nice to know that I'm a celebrity." I said with a smile. I opened my water and took a few sips. Half way through one sip, Kelly grabbed my arms, bouncing like a little kid. "Is it true?! Is it true?!" He screamed.
I spilled my water all over my shirt. "Yeah." I said as I took my shirt off. A few girls walked by and whistled. Laura walked over a few moments later, looking jealous as hell. She noticed that I wasn't wearing a shirt and she frowned. She grabbed my arm and yanked me down the hall to the boys locker room.
A few guys were changing and they all looked shocked as she made her way through the room, stopping in front of Matt. He looked at me, clearly confused. He pulled his shirt on and looked down at Laura. "Can I help you?" He asked her. "You're the only person I know in here so I was wondering if you had an extra shirt." She explained quickly. He pulled a shirt out of his bag and handed it to me. She thanked him and walked away.
"You're not walking out until you put that shirt on." She told me sternly. "But it's a short sleeve" I told her. "Fine." She said. She pulled her sweatshirt off and threw it over her shoulder. "You didn't have to do that." I told her. "Does it make you feel more comfortable?" She asked me. "Yeah." I admitted. She walked out of the locker room, leaving me there. I pulled the shirt on.
"Damn! She's got you whipped." Matt said as he walked up to me. "Oh shut up Matt." I told him as I walked out. I grabbed my bag and walked to class. I sat down next to Laura and she smiled at me. "See? Not so bad." She said. "No one is looking at your arms." She reminded me.
I grabbed her hand and held it tightly. I grabbed her other arm and looked at her wrist. She eyed me nervously as I traced her scars. They were cool but I don't like how she got them. "Please try not to do this again. I can't ask you to never do it again but can you try? Please? I don't like the idea of you hurting yourself." I told her as I continued tracing them. She nodded. " I can promise that I'll try." She told me honestly.
She grabbed the arm that was tracing her scars and inspected it. "Can you promise me that you won't do this again?" she asked, nodding towards my arm. "I can do that. I promise." I said, being completely honest.
"Aww! Look at how cute they are Alice!" Ezra said as she walked in holding hands with Alice. Alice smiled at Laura happily. "You guys are good for each other." She said.
"Why don't we do cute stuff like that anymore Alice?!" Ezra whined. "Fucking what?! We just went out on a date thursday and you pretty much live at my house!" Alice shrieked. Laura and I started laughing at them. "See? You're so mean to me." Ezra said, pouting. We laughed even harder as Alice looked at her in disbelief.
"What the fuck!" Alice said, laughing with us. "Women." Alice said, giving up on their conversation. "Oh so now it's a gender thing! Sheesh rude." Ezra said dramatically. "You're a lesbian Alice! You only like women." Ezra stated. "Thanks for the reminder." Alice said before kissing Ezra.
The teacher walked in and shook his head. They pulled apart and alice caught him shaking his head. "Someone clearly needs to do him." Alice whispered to us. Laura was crying because she was laughing so hard. "I mean seriously! If he got any, he wouldn't be shaking his head like that." She whispered to us. Ezra starting laughing too. And that's pretty much how the rest of the day went.A/N
