Laura POV
The bell rang and I got up, taking my bag with me. I walked down the hall to my locker, where alice was waiting. "Your dad's here." She whispered, looking at the ground. The smile on my face turned into a frown. Hands wrapped around my waist tightly and I started panicking. My heart was racing as I jabbed my elbow into the person's ribs. The person groaned and I turned around to see it was Logan. "I'm so sorry! I thought you were someone else!" I apologized. "It's fine." He said reassuringly. I nodded and said bye to Alice. Logan took my hand and pulled me out of the building. I could see my father's truck but I ignored it, desperate to get away after last night's incident. He drove his truck over to us and stopped. "Need a ride?" He asked us uncomfortably. "We're all set." I snapped, still mad at him about everything. "Laura come home." He offered. I looked at him in shock and anger. "Where were you when I was home alone all that time huh?! If I remember correctly, you were out drinking and working overtime to avoid me because you blamed me for something that wasn't my fault! I fucking hate what you put me through! You could've put mom in a mental hospital. But you didn't." I said all of harshly. I stomped away, pulling Logan with me. I felt the tears well up in my eyes and before I could stop them, they started streaming down my face. Logan pulled me into a comforting hug. I tried to push him away but he wouldn't budge. I gave up and hug him tighter as I sobbed violently. "Why didn't he help her?" I whimpered, my voice shaky and weak. He knew what she was going through and yet he didn't want to get her the help she needed. I cried harder at that thought clutching the back of Logan's shirt tightly. My whole body ached and I suddenly felt weak. Logan seemed to notice and picked me up with my knees bent over his forearm and back against his arm. It felt comfortable and safe. I was still crying and my cheeks were probably red and puffy. He held me tightly so he wouldn't drop me. It made me extremely self-conscious. He managed to get to the apartment with ease. "Do you think you can walk up the stairs now?" He asked me in a gentle voice. I nodded and took a shaky breath. We walked up the stairs and my tears came to a stop. We got to the apartment and he pulled out his key and unlocked the door for us. We walked in and I grabbed a water and opened it, taking a few sips. Logan came over and grabbed my hand, leading me over to the couch. "Calliope," he started with a sigh. "What did you mean when you said that he blamed you?" He asked me with a worried expression. "When we were at my mother's funeral, I ran out and went home at the sight of her. She had rope burns and they were scary to me. I got scared of the sight and ran home." I explained, a lump forming in my throat at the memory. "Why would he blame you though?" He asked, still worried. I took a few sips of water and continued. "He blames me because I left him there. Then he started ignoring me. My fifteenth birthday was the first day I cut. His ignorance hurt me so fucking bad." I said weakly. He nodded quietly and turned the T.V. on and we watched 'golden girls' which was my favorite show. We watched it for a few and I found myself cuddling with Logan. I was leaning on him and he had his arm around me. "I'm sorry but I have to go to work." He told me. "Where do you work?" I asked him. "I work at a restaurant about ten minutes away." He responded. I nodded. "Well have fun!" I told him with a smile. He chuckled and walked into the bedroom. He walked out a few minutes later in a black button up and a pair of black dress pants, his apron in hand. I waved and he left. I watched the show for a few minutes before I got bored and got up, looking around. I noticed that there were dishes that needed to be cleaned so I did them. He was letting me stay here so it was the least I could do. Once I finished I cleaned the counters and the table and looked around once again. The house looked cleaner so I went into the bedroom. I sat on the bed for a moment thinking of what I could do. I looked at my bags and opened one and grabbed some money. I needed something to keep me busy so my thoughts couldn't get to me. I grabbed my phone and looked around for a spare key. I found one a few minutes later and left the house, locking it behind me. I walked down the street, past the cafe and down the road for a bit, looking for somewhere to eat. I saw a cut little diner and I walked in. I noticed that everyone was dressed in light blue and I sat at a small table. A girl came up to my table with a huge smile. "What can I get you to drink?" She asked in a happy voice. "Can I have some iced tea please?" I asked her in a kind voice. She nodded and wrote it down quickly, walking back into the kitchen. I scanned through the menu and decided what I wanted. She returned with my drink. "Have you decided what you want or do you need more time?" She asked. "Can I have the chicken tenders and fries please?" I responded she nodded and wrote it down. "Any sauce?" She asked. "Just vinegar for the fries please." She nodded and walked away happily. I checked the time and noticed that it was only 4:17p.m. I put my headphones on and the song 'Nightmares In Paradise' by Palye Royale started playing. 'No one can hear when you scream' It sang in my ears. A few more songs played and food was suddenly being put in front of me. I looked up and thanked the waitress. She smiled and left. I ate my food and it tasted absolutely amazing. Nothing was too greasy and I was thankful for it. I left $20 and my meal only cost me $10. I walked out and walked down the street a bit more. I noticed a cute little plant shop and I walked in. When I stepped through the door a bell rang. I walked around the store, looking at all sorts of plants. I saw a variety of flowers. A small, light blue flower caught my attention. I picked it up and read the bottom. 'Cape primrose' said the label. Someone came over. "Those are nice." Said the voice. I turned around and saw Kelly. "Hey." I said. He had been talking about Logan and I kissing. "Do you need help finding anything?" He asked. "Do you have any indoor plants?" I asked him. "Do you have any experience with plants?" He asked. "Not really." I told him. He nodded for me to follow him. He led me to a collection of plants. There was a few that seemed cute but one really caught my eye. It had colorful leaves. I went to pick it up but I realized that I was still holding the primrose. "You can set that on the counter." He suggested with a laugh. I set it down and grabbed the other plant. "Coleus." He said before I could check it.  I laughed and set it on the counter. I grabbed an aloe plant that I noticed. It seemed like it wasn't getting something that it needed. Maybe this could be my challenge. "I can get you a different one of those." He offered. I frowned "Now why would I grab it if I didn't want it?" I asked him. He nodded in understanding and rang the plants up. The total was $15.26. I handed him the money and he gave me a bag for them. I left the place after saying goodbye. I walked back to the apartment, surprisingly remembering the way. When I walked into our apartment, Logan was sitting at the table eating while flipping a coin anxiously. "Where were you?" He asked me curiously. "I got bored and went out." I told him casually. He nodded and continued eating. I took the plants out and checked to see if any of them needed water. The aloe was the only one that did. Maybe that's what was wrong with it. I filled a small cup with water and gently poured it into the pot until the soil was damp. Nash had finished eating and was looking at me with a smirk. "I see you visited Kelly's work." He said. "Yeah. "He helped me find this one." I said, pointing at the Coleus. He chuckled until he saw the Primrose. A sad smile crossed his features. "What's wrong?" I said in panic. What if he hated it? Oh god I should've just stayed home. "Those were my sister's favorite." He told me. "Oh my god. I'm so fucking stupid. Im sorry. I'll return them." I told him. "Calliope. It's okay. I like them." He told me. "They just reminded me of her." He added. I sighed in relief and I pulled him into the bedroom. I got undressed and put on some pajamas. He stared at me in shock. I just laughed. He was already in pajamas so I pulled him over to the bed and pushed him onto it. He layed down so I got in and turned the light off. I moved so I was pressed against him and he draped his arm over my stomach. We went to sleep just like that.
