Laura P.O.V
"Why are you so nervous?" Jeremy asked me. We were sitting in the backseat of the couple's car. The man's name was Carlos and the woman's name was Lily. "Well first off, my boyfriend is alone at my house with my father and my son. Second, I have a burning hatred towards your mother. And third, I'm about to meet the people who made your lives terrible." I said. "If it makes you feel any better, I'm scared too. I don't want to face my father." He told me. "Well we have Carlos and Lily to escourt us. They have all of their stuff too." I told him. To be honest, I was still scared and angry. "Well guys... we're here." Carlos said. Even he sounded nervous about being here. Lily and Carlos exchanged a glance that made it seem like they knew something. "We'll be right outside of the house. Cough twice if you need us." Lily told us. We nodded and got out of the car and walked up to the house. "Are you ready for this?" I asked him nervously. "Yeah. Are you?" He responded. "No but I'm going to suck it up and let my anger be the only thing that shows." I told him honestly. Lily and Carlos ducked and crept up to the side of the house near an opened window. We knocked and his mother hastily opened the door. She had blonde hair and grey eyes. She looked like a model but her resting bitch face ruined that look for her. "Hey guys! Come on in!" She greeted, clenching her teeth. We walked in and Jeremy immediately ran up to his room to start packing. "Where's your husband? I would love to meet him." I asked her. She put on a sinister smile. "He's in Jeremy's room having a little chat with Jeremy." She told me. The way she said chat had my palms sweaty instantly. "Do you mind calling him down for me so that I can meet him?" I asked her. She realized then that I wasn't going to cave to her games. "MARCUS!" she yelled. He appeared at the top of the stairs. "There's someone here who's been dying to meet you." She said, glancing at me as she said dying. I was struggling to stay composed. "Ah! You must be Laura. It's a pleasure to meet you. I didn't get the chance to meet you at the station because you ran off after my son." He said with a perfect smile. He walked down the stairs and right over to me. "Kathrine can you get this lovely woman some water." He said it as more of a command than a request. Kathrine went into the kitchen to get me water. "What is a beautiful girl like you doing with my son?" When he said beautiful it sent shivers down my spine. I realized then that this man terrified me. I laughed lightly. "He's quite charming sir. You raised him well." I praised. It hurt me to say those words but I managed with a smile on my face. "Is he now?" He said a Kathrine brought in some water. I nodded at Marcus's words and took a sip of water. Lily was peeking slightly over the window. I made a little bit of eye contact with her but tore it away quickly so no one else would notice. "Look at those eyes." He said, grabbing my face painfully. I let out two coughs as his grip tightened. I looked over at the window and Lily made eye contact with me. I coughed two more times and she disappeared. All of a sudden the door burst open. Lily and Carlos had guns pointed. In one swift moment, Marcus had grabbed me and turned me around, pointing a gun up to my head. Tears started falling down my face.
This is it. This is where I'm going to die. I've always been scared of death. My mother. My grandparents. All people that I loved, died. I'm going to die and I'm okay with it. Because after I die, Jeremy and Logan will be safe. His father will be locked up and won't be able to hurt them. My tears stopped and I started laughing. "Why are you laughing?!" Marcus yelled as he pressed the gun into my temple. "Because it's over for you. Regardless of how this all plays out. You're done." I told him with a smile on my face. "I have plenty of reasons to live, but I have just as many to die." I explained. "Are you out of your fucking mind?!" He asked me. "If you kill me, you get put in jail. Your sons will finally be safe from you!" I snarled. "We'll see how you feel about this!" He said and before I could process what was happening, I heard a gun shot and my leg exploded into pain. I let out a scream and another shot was fired. Marcus's hold on me loosened as he fell to the floor. Jeremy ran up behind his father and grabbed the gun as quickly as possible. Jeremy threw the gun down on the ground and rushed over to me. Carlos ran to Marcus and cuffed him. Jeremy took his shirt off and pressed it into my leg. I whimpered in pain and Lily ran over to me. Her and Jeremy helped me up and I limped to the car. "Carlos! Call another cruiser over! We need to get her to the hospital!" She yelled to Carlos. Jeremy lifted me into the car and got in on the other side. Lily got in and started driving. "Jeremy, I'm going to drop you off and pick up Mike." Lily told him. "Nash too." Jeremy said before I could even say anything. "Are you sure you can watch Avian all by yourself?" I asked him. He nodded. "Jesus christ! You're a fighter. You got shot in the thigh and you're still awake." Lily said. I smiled. "It hurts like a bitch but I need to see Logan." I told her. "Do you think Marcus will actually end up in jail?" I asked Lily. "It's a lot harder for him to deny this when the victim is still alive to tell the story." She explained. I nodded. All of a sudden my vision started getting blurry. I pressed Jeremy's shirt into the bullet hole again so that it would slow the blood loss. We got to my dad's house and Jeremy grabbed his bags and walked inside. My dad rushed out a few seconds later with Logan right on his heel. My dad got in the front while Logan got in the back with me. "Jeremy told us that you got shot. Did my dad do it?" Logan asked. "Yeah. He thought I was psychotic because we had him trapped and he shot my leg." I started panting at the end. "And you didn't think to call me?!" My dad yelled at Lily. "Mike, I had more important things to worry about than calling you." Lily explained. We arrived at the hospital and Logan got me out of the car, picking me up. We all walked in, well, other than me, and went up to the front desk. "We have an emergency. She got shot in the leg." My dad explained to the woman at the front desk. "We have a room available if you'll follow me." She told us. Everyone followed her into the room. It was a plain room with white walls and floors. Logan set me on the bed. He took my pants off. "Logan, I don't think this is the place or the time to be doing that." I said with a giggle. He shook his head but laughed anyway. He managed to get them off with only one wince from me. He inspected the wound and sighed. "It's pretty deep. What even happened?" Logan asked me. I looked away from him. I couldn't look him in the eye and tell him that his father almost murdered me. "You're father grabbed my chin. I did the code for Lily and Carlos and they rushed in. Marcus grabbed me and pointed a gun at my head." I said with a sob, tears filling my eyes. My dad walked over and held my hand, nodding to encourage me to continue. "I started laughing. I told him that he had finally lost his own game and he didn't like that. He shot me in the leg. Jeremy ran over and grabbed the gun and threw it. He's under arrest right now. I think the charge will be attempted murder." I said looking at my dad to see if I was correct. He nodded. There were tears in my dad's eyes. It finally dawned on me what my thoughts were when Marcus had the gun up to my head. Tears started streaming down my face. I put my head in my hands and started sobbing. I wasn't scared to die anymore. "Are you okay Calliope?" Logan said. I looked up at him with a huge smile on my face and nodded. A doctor finally walked in. "So you've been shot in your left leg?" The doctor asked. I nodded. "Well let me take a look." He said, pulling on some blue gloves. Logan moved out of the way and the doctor sat down in the chair. "So it's pretty deep. I'm not sure if I'll be able to reach it with tweezers but I'll try. I'm going to put you under anesthesia okay?" The doctor said. "Can I stay awake? Can we do it right here? I don't want to be alone." I asked him. He sighed and punched the bridge of his nose. My dad let go of my hand and moved. Logan stepped up and held my hand. It was a lot more comforting with him next to me. "I can but it'll hurt." The doctor said. "I'm going to numb it and have someone bring some supplies in." He explained. "That means all but one person needs to leave the room." He told everyone. No one said anything as my dad and Lily left. "I'll stay right here." Logan said to me. A nurse came in a few minutes later with all of the supplies. I looked at Logan as they brought the needle up to my thigh after cleaning it to the best of their ability. I squeezed Logan's hand as they inserted the needle. They waited about 5 minutes before pressing on my thigh. "Does this hurt at all Laura?" They asked me. "I don't feel any of the pain." I told them. The doctor sighed again and grabbed his tweezers. He slid them into the bullet hole and I let out a scream but it was quickly muffled by Logan's hand. He hugged me as best as he could. Eventually my whole leg went numb and I couldn't feel a thing. "I've got it!" The doctor exclaimed. "Dont show me anything please." I told him. I heard the clunk of the bullet hitting a metal tray. "I'm just going to stitch this up and we'll be finished. I'll give you some crutches too." The doctor told us. He started stitching it up. "Now don't get these wet for two weeks. Try to limit your movement on that leg. I'm going to prescribe you two weeks worth of oxycodone for the pain. I'll schedule a follow up for two weeks from now if that works with you." He told me. "Prescribe one week of the oxycodone please. And two weeks from now works." I told him. He nodded and him and the nurse left the room and my father walked in with Lily. "I have a follow up two weeks from now." I told him. "That hurt like a bitch." I said with a laugh. "You handled that like a champ. The first time I got shot I had them put me under and when I woke up I passed right back out from the pain." Lily said with a laugh. The nurse walked in with some crutches and a paper to show to the pharmacist. "Can everyone but my dad leave the room for a moment please?" Logan and Lily nodded and left the room. "Dad-" before I could finish my sentence my dad interrupted me. "Laura, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for judging Logan. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you. I'm sorry all of these things happened to you. But I'm most sorry about your mother. I'm sorry I didn't get her the help she needed. She needed to see a therapist but I didn't want to admit to myself that she was depressed. I never meant to hurt you when I ignored you. I couldn't face you because it hurt me that you tried telling me to help her and I turned a blind eye." He said. I was crying by the end of his statement. "Dad. It's okay. We're going to be okay. But I have something to ask you. Will you let me continue dating Logan?" I asked him. "Of course Laura. He loves you so much. And you love him just as much. And you guys love Avian just the same." He told me with tears of his own. "You know Laura. I have two spare bedrooms in the house. You have your own room and there are two more available. I would live it of all of you moved in with me. It's been lonely there and your mother would've loved having people there." He told me. "Really?! I mean- me and Jeremy are looking at getting jobs too so we can all help out paying rent and Logan already has a job." I told him. He nodded and I smiled. "Can you go get Logan and Lily?" I asked him. He nodded and went to get them. I got my pants back on as gently as possible. They all walked back into the room. "Logan? My dad wants us all to move in with him. We can all help pay rent and I'm sure it's cheaper than-" before I could finish talking he walked up to me and kissed me. "Of course Laura!" He said with a huge smile. He walked over and grabbed my crutches, bringing them to me. We all left the room and checked out at the front desk. We got in the car and headed home. On the way we stopped at the pharmacy to get my prescription. When we got back home, we said bye to Lily and thanked her for everything. I slowly made my way into the house. "Jeremy, Avian, can you guys come into the living room with me?" I asked them. They nodded and followed me. I sat down on the couch and gently set my leg on the couch. Avian sat on the floor and Jeremy sat in one of the chairs. "Logan and I made the decision to move in here. Are you guys okay with that?" I asked them. They both nodded. Jeremy helped me up the stairs and tried to bring me to my room. I brought him down the hall to one of the rooms. I opened the door and pulled him in. "This is your room." I told him. He looked at me in shock. The walls were blue and the carpet was grey. The bed had a blue comforter and black sheets. I looked at Jeremy and his eyes were wide. "So you like it?" I asked him. He turned and hugged me, almost knocking me over. I left the room and showed Avian his. It was probably about 9:00p.m. so I set him in bed. "I'll send your dad and granddad to get our clothes here tomorrow." I told him while tucking him in. "I love you mommy!" He said as he hugged me. "I-I love you too Avian." I told him. And I meant it with all of my heart. I started to leave Avian's room but Logan stopped me by picking me up. He brought us to my room- well our room now, and set me on the bed. He grabbed some clothes and tossed them to me. "In that drawer right there I have some of the clothes that I've stolen from my dad." I told him. He grabbed them and put them on. They were a bit big but they would suffice just for tonight. He helped me get pjs on and I scooted over on the bed so he could lay down. "I love you calliope." He told me. "I love you too Logan." I told him right back. I closed my eyes and fell asleep instantly.A/N
THIS ISN'T THE LAST CHAPTER! I have two more chapters to write and I'm very excited with how this is going to end. I was originally going to write David and Kelly's story next but I changed my mind and decided to write Jeremy's next.
