your ever first mission as a magic knight was quite a good impression, if you say so yourself. you explored a abandoned ruin with yvane. you found the task not so bad after only getting to battle with a few bandits who's only there to get the treasures before the magic knights does. to their bad luck, it was you who's assigned to finish the job done and you did, rather impressively fast and you had found the work easy.

after having a good impression with your first mission, the wizard king has been sending you to more important missions such as exploring more dangerous dungeons that was just recently discovered and helping out villages at the forsaken realm. the best part is? you and your captain is always together.

almost all of the missions you've had, it was always with your captain or yvane. but mostly william. you've been tasked for some missions with other members of the squad, yet it was only tending some people in the outskirts of the noble realm, nothing too serious.

your next mission was to help out a village outside the capital, it has a lot of reports that the village was often terrorized by bandits at night. although this was tasked for william aswell.

on the way there, you planned to finish the mission quick. it has been a rather not-so-busy month and you don't get so much missions like these with william, you've been with yvane on your past tasks to where you help the people build their houses and send them food.

finishing the mission fast meant that you'll have more time to spend with william and knowing that there's not really a lot of work waiting for him at his office, maybe he'll agree since it's a nice day for a.. chat or tea?

not like you're trying to get him off of his work (you are) he's been stuck at his office for the past days now and its only good for his health if he gets some sun shining on his skin.

the both of you finished up with william locking up the bandits as roots circled them. the two of you got back at the village as villagers circled you two.

the people thanked you and you welcomed them politely. william could only watch on how you communicate with them, that smile, those small gestures, it's been months ever since he's feeling those weird things on his stomach, sometimes all over his body.

"thank you so much for coming into our small land, m'lady." the village's chief they called, said. "it's our job to help citizens of clover and protect them, you don't have to thank us." you replied with a smile.

'that's right. protect.'

"Y/N? comrades are here." you turned around to face your captain before nodding and looking back at the people, "we will take our leave now, stay safe everyone." you waved, nodding at william as he did too, he bid his farewell with the people before standing next to you.

the two of you walked away from the people, "it's getting dark, should i summon amihan?" with the mention of your pegasus, your captain could only nod with a "of course", and his warming smile. you don't understand but there's something wrong with his acts, you guessed that it won't be the very nice time for a chat at all, so you shrugged it off and let the day go without any other plans in mind.

the two of you arrived at the capital without saying a single word, just complete silence. it wasn't ackward, it wasn't a bad type of silence, it wasn't comfortable but not uncomfortable, just. silence, as in you were alone, you felt like william wasn't there and he felt the same.
