the captain stared at your unconscious figure, slightly flinching upon hearing his friend's voice speak that only he could hear.

your emotions are everywhere william, said the person inside the said man.

'oh, forgive me if it bothered your rest.' he thought back.

is she that special? the day would come.. it replied, 'i am aware patri, this feeling inside me is overcoming everything i feel into one i can't seem to understand myself'. william was now spacing out, focused on his conversation with his friend.

well, just speak to me if ever somebody is dear to you then so i could decide and spare them when the time has arrived.

patri may want to re-think of his advice, though it could ruin his plans and their agreement.

"mr owen? is her state not getting well? it has been a week already.." william sighed and halted his words, he sounded too worried that the old man would probably question his emotions.

"forgive my words sir.. i am nowhere at questioning your abilities- i'm only afraid to loose one of my comrades."

the captain had black circles under his eyes, pure worry and guilt can be seen clear as day in his expressions.

"i understand your troubles, captain vangeance." owen replied, "although i am unsure myself, i've done everything i could to help miss y/n's condition and all we could do right now is to wait for her body to recover and gain consciousness."

william understood that well, but the built up regret and pain he's feeling doesn't tell the same.

owen excused himself and left the room, assuring the captain once more that you will recover soon enough before leaving.

william couldn't help but to blame himself for not being there with you, if he would have been there to protect you this would have not happened, you wouldn't be here, laying on a hospital bed, unconscious.

he sat on a chair near your bed and sulked there, hoping that you'd open your eyes and assure him that you're alright once again.

"captain..?" the man heard your voice faintly calling out to him, he internally scoffed.

things like this has been happening to him which bothered the man so much, he'd hallucinate of you smiling at him from far away- calling his name or waving at him, wether he's doing paperworks- or even when he's just walking down a hallway.

maybe it's his pent up mixed emotions, afterall, this hasn't happened to any of his members in the past. they were strong enough to handle themselves and they have yet to really attend missions as worse as yours. all the missions sent to his members are rather effortless, he carried all the burden only to protect his beloved squad members and this was a first for him.

maybe that's what it is, the feeling of guilt after letting a single string off his finger. and ended up more awful than it should have, it ended up you, in the state he's never wanted to see anyone on.

how cruel.

nevertheless, the captain looked up, it won't be so bad to check.

and there he saw your figure, struggling to sit up.

the man panicked, he wasn't sure of what to do nor to say, as he just simply froze on the spot while staring at your now seated figure.

"captain?" you spoke up, feeling your throat like desert as your hand raised up to touched your neck.
