"You. Crazy. Freak."
Those where the words Gina heard as she came to. She was sprawled on the sidewalk and when she lifted her head off the cement to sit up, she was surprised to see Chris' arm around her torso and his face glaring at her from the ground.
Trying to recall what happened, she remembered the honking, the flash of headlights and a crash, though it wasn't the car that hit her, but Christopher had run and tackled her to the sidewalk.
"Whoops..?"
Chuckled Gina nervously as Chris caught his breath and sat up."You....don't....ever.....do....that...."
Coughed the boy, pissed off to the extreme. Gina knew that she should thank him for potentially saving her life but the boy's tone of voice annoyed her and she snapped back.
"Thanks for saving me and all, but it's mainly YOUR FAULT for freaking Al and me out!"
"I WASN'T GONNA MURDER YOU!" He rebuked loudly.
"THEN WHY DID YOU ACT CREEPY!?" Gina screeched.
"WHAT KIND OF WORD CHOICE IS THAT??" Fumed Chris.
"WHY ARE YOU EVEN YELLING AT ME???" Yelled Gina.
"BECAUSE YOU ALMOST GOT US BOTH KILLED, DAMMIT!"
Gina froze. Damn, I did almost get us killed, she thought.
She sighed and got up, losing interest with the argument. She brushed herself off, fixed her ponytail and picked up her bag.
"Come on, we're going to be late." She shot at Chris who was still sitting on the ground.
Gina reached out her hand and helped the boy up, she owed him that much. Then she straightened her spine and walked proudly away from him, as if nothing happened.
When the two got to Louise Buttlington Collegiate, the awkward, silent tension between the two enemies subsided and they went their separate ways, Chris to his groupies and Gina to Al.
When Gina spotted her best friend and began to jog over to meet him, she fell on her face.
Laughs and snorts filled the air and she could tell that Christopher's group of friends were laughing at her and in response, her face heated up and she could feel herself blush.
Quickly jumping up to redeem her pride, she noticed that the strap of her flip-flop had snapped and she sighed in defeat. I knew I shouldn't have worn these today! Gina grumbled.
She then picked up the broken sandal and the one that was still good and walked over to Albert, who didn't look so good.
"My gosh! What happened to you?" Gasped Gina when she caught sight of her best friend's face. "It's just a bloody nose, Gina. I'm not dying." Grimaced Al. Gina opened her mouth to ask but Al beat her to it, "I don't want to talk about it." He said with finality in his voice.
A few seconds of silence later, Al glanced at Gina and chuckled. "You look like you were hit by a car."
"I don't want to talk about it either."
Then the bell rand and the two friends walked side by side into the school, ignoring the shocked and questioning stares of their classmates. One without shoes and one dripping a trail of blood down his face and they didn't care one bit.
