Strolling slowly to the school doors, Gina and Al were prepared to go home and relax after a long day of school. The halls were empty already because it was Friday and everyone wanted to escape school as soon as possible except for a few individuals who liked to take their time.

It had been 3 weeks since the little incident with Ms. Simmons happened. After all that jazz, Mr. Yelder (the principal if you've forgotten) asked all three of them what had happened and with a few minor changes, they managed to make it seem like none of it was their fault.

"It was great how we managed that! Like, you said that you left home and Chris brought you back your bag and-" Rambled Al beside Gina while her thoughts swept her somewhere else and Al's voice turned into a little buzzing sound at the back of her head.

What would've happened if Christopher didn't save me? What if had I died? Gina pondered, frowning slightly.

Her conscience responded in a tiny squeaky voice: Well, if you had died, your mom would be all alone and Ms. Simmons would be charged for hitting you.

Gina's other mind voice fought back, if he hadn't scared me, I wouldn't have even been in that mess in the first place!

As Gina's mind was still fighting with itself, Albert; on the other hand kept happily chattering about God knows what. He decided to tell every person who asked why he was covered in blood that morning and he cleverly weaved together a story that he had almost been mugged by 3 big guys in the woods even though if you had been there, he only fought with a tree. And lost. With his face.

The rest of that day, Al was forced to wear Gina's extra t-shirt, which, unfortunately for him, had a very colourful Little Mermaid print on it. That day, to Al was considered a very embarrassing day but he got over it pretty well.

"Anyway, do you wanna go for some ice cream after school, Gina? It's free today only at Creamy King's Ice Cream Shoppe. There's some kind of anniversary going on." Al questioned his best friend who was still viciously trying to fight off her conscience.

"Gina? Giiinnnnaaaa? Hello?" Al stopped walking at the corner of that hall and lightly held Gina's green, knitted sleeve that contrasted the punk style of her black jeans and combat boots as he thought of what to do.

Because of the expression on her face, her balled up fists and the slight muttering and noises of teeth grinding against each other, he knew that she was arguing with her conscience. it has happened before and whenever Gina got like that, it was a challenge to pull her back out of her mind and into reality again.

Suddenly, Albert Finn got an idea. A devious idea. He ran to the nearest water fountain and left Gina standing right at the end of the hall, close to the left wall. She was just a right turn from the exit but still in her mind trance.

Returning, Al snuck up behind Gina and with his soaking wet hands, he clapped them over the sides of her face, pushed her forward and yelled, "HOW 'BOUT SOME ICE CREAM?!"

Screeching, Gina tripped and tumbled.

Chris was in trouble. With his parents to be exact. Instead of paying for Ms. Simmons's car repairs, Mr. and Mrs. Blake made poor Christopher get a job. Already, he was late, for the school bell rang just an hour ago, yet he didn't want to go work.

"Dude, sorry I can't come and be moral support; but this girl's got a date!" Christopher's friend, Mila Jones pointed at herself with her thumbs.

Mila was popular. She was athletic, captain of the badminton club and friendly. Her bubbly personality made Mila approachable and she was often mistaken as Christopher's sister because she had the same shade of blond hair but instead of green eyes, she had deep chocolate eyes. They weren't related at all though. Mila didn't care much about school and hardly did her homework but she was really smart.
