Gina was walking out the school door and pondering how to tell Al about everything that happened. He had no idea how things have changed with her, her new job and the banana suit of shame due to the fact that he had been very busy spending time with Mila.

In fact, Al had always been Gina's emotional support since her mother worked vigorously to pay the bills. It was getting harder for Gina to sort things out emotionally since she was used to talking to Al and he was always gone.

I think I'm going to tell him tomorrow. She thought. A second later, a familiar voice erupted by Gina's ear.

"Gina! Let's go get ice cream after school! There's this new ice cream place downtown that I hear has really great sundaes!" Al spoke enthusiastically. Al was in a good mood that day, like he normally was.

"Aren't you going with your girlfriend?" Gina asked, surprised at his sudden appearance. Recovering quickly, she smiled playfully and cocked an eyebrow teasingly. "Wouldn't want her thinking that you're blowing her off."

"Nah! She's spending the week of Spring Break at her grandparents house, so I wanna catch up with you and hear your irritating voice again." Al teased back. Then he smiled wistfully as he thought of his beautiful girlfriend, Mila. Al truly held feeling for her. He spent more and more time with Mila now and he kind of missed just hanging out with his best friend. The two teens kept walking, feet splashing in the small puddles from the night before.

"So, let's go!" He repeated happily.

"After school?" Asked Gina, a small frown crossing her face. "I, uh, have plans..." Gina mumbled quietly, turning red at the thought of how she had to wear the banana suit. Al misinterpreted her blush and smirked.

"Gina. I know exactly what's going on." Al snickered. I can't believe it, thought Al, my best friend has a date!

Confused, Gina stuttered, "H-how did you know?" I never told you about my job! Gina screamed in her head.

"All signs pointed to it!" Al said knowingly. "You keep disappearing right after school and you always look so tired!" You disappear to meet your boyfriend right after school and you're so tired from texting him every night! Al continued in his mind.

Sighing, Gina began her apology for not telling her bestie about her new employment. "Albert. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you!" Gina whimpered guiltily. "It's just that, we haven't talked in a while and-"

"Shhhh!" Interrupted Al, swiftly shushing Gina with his index finger against her lips. "It's okay my little sister who is not really my sister. Now where is it gonna happen?"

"W-wha..?" Now Gina was utterly confused. "You're not mad at me for not telling you?" Dude! You got mad at me for finding 50 cents and not splitting it with you! How are you not mad that I'm making money now??? Gina's inner voice yelled.

You've finally grown out of your 'boys have cooties' phase. Al thought as he responded to Gina's question, "Of course I'm not mad! My best friend is finally growing up!"

"Anyway, where is it?" Al bounced excitedly as the two of them reached Gina's driveway, the little yellow car that Gina's mom drove parked neatly in the space.

"Creamy King's Ice Cream Shoppe." Whispered Gina, feeling embarrassed. She didn't need anyone hearing about where she worked hence she whispered but to Al, it seemed like she wanted to keep her "date" a secret from the world. "Just promise that you won't do anything stupid like stalk me, okay?"

"I promise!" Al said a little too quickly as he crossed his arms behind his back stiffly and rather suspiciously. Shooting Al a doubtful look, Gina ran to her doorstep and yelled over her shoulder, "Nothing stupid! You promised!" Then she closed the door and ran to her room to drop her bag and hope that Al actually wouldn't do something crazy.
