When Tord reached the attic, he saw the girl laying on the bed with her headphones on. Tord stared at all of Matt's "junk" that was displayed on the wall. He was amazed at how much stuff the gang had collected all these years, but he figured he could find out about those things later. Right now, his top priority is (Y/N).
"I know you're there Tord," (Y/N) said, her voice soft with a hint of irritation. The boy just let out a nervous laugh, hoping to lighten up the mood, but it didn't seem to be working. He shoved his hands in the pocket of his red hoodie as he looked at (Y/N) with a hopeful glance.
"Ha, you got me!" (Y/N) rolled her eyes, "Um, I just wanted to talk with you. About your sudden... change,"
(Y/N) took her headphones off and placed them on the bed before sitting up. Tord looked around the room as he waited for (Y/N) to get comfortable. After a few minutes, (Y/N) patted the bed and Tord sat down next to her, taking his hands out of his pockets and placing them on the bed as he leaned back a bit.
"My sudden change, huh? I personally don't think you, of all people," Tord winced, directing his attention to the floor, "Deserves an explanation but, since you asked. I guess I have to tell you,"
-
"God! (Y/N) get yourself together!" (Y/N) yelled, grabbing her hair out of frustration. She threw herself onto her bed, laying on top of something that was bunched up into a ball. "Ow, what was that?"
(Y/N) rubbed her back as she stared at the thing. A few tears threatened to fall as she noticed the familiar black trenchcoat. She quickly picked it up and examined it.
"Tord's old coat! How did this get here?" she looked around the room, hoping to find an answer as to why Tord may have left it, but nothing could be found. She looked back at the coat, letting her fingers graze the fabric before putting it on.
"It's warm, a little big but, I don't mind," (Y/N) whispered as she took a look at herself in the mirror. She knew that it was wrong to keep something that would remind her of Tord, but she couldn't bring herself to throw it away.
"I won't be able to change if I keep thinking about him like that," (Y/N) whispered as she took the trenchcoat off, the previous warmth leaving her body as she placed the coat back onto her bed.
-
"So, the trenchcoat you're wearing right now, It's my old one?" Tord asked, pointing to the black coat the girl wore. (Y/N) gave a small nod, hiding herself with the collar of the trenchcoat as Tord smiled.
"Anyways, that's besides the point! Now, I knew that I had to get my mind off you so, I started trying things I never would have thought to do,"
"What types of things?" Tord asked with a slight concern.
"Drinking, violence, guns, y'know. Things like that,"
Tord was shocked. The (Y/N) he knew would never even think of drinking. Matter of fact, she was the one scolding Tom for coming home drunk. (Y/N) gave a nod as she laid on the bed and stared at the ceiling.
Tord did the same, laying his head next to (Y/N). The two laid in an awkward silence, neither of them sure what to talk about. Tord looked back at (Y/N). Her eyes were closed and she had put her headphones back on. Tord turned his head, hoping (Y/N) didn't see him staring.
"We have so much in common now, don't we?" (Y/N) took a quick glance at the boy.
"No, we don't," (Y/N) grunted, staring back at the ceiling as Tord's smile dropped.
"Why do you deny it? We can be close. Like we used to-"
"SHUT UP!" Tord was taken back by the girl's sudden anger. He backed up into the bedframe, his back on the wood and his hands on the sheets to give (Y/N) her space. "I tried so hard to forget about you! I tried being like you because I wanted to be with you!"
Tord noticed the tears that began to fall from (Y/N)'s eyes. He reached a hand out only to have it be slapped away. "DON'T! JUST. Don't,"
And with that, (Y/N) left the room, leaving Tord alone to be surrounded by the adventures that the gang had without him. Adventures that changed (Y/N) as a person and made her burning hatred for the Norwegian grow. His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of loud footsteps coming his way along with screams from Edd and (Y/N).
"TORD!" Oh no.
Tord heard the familiar voice yell. He stood up and walked to the stairs to see a certain brunette run up the stairs and grab a hold of him with a tight grip on his red hoodie. He met eyes with the black voids that he knew all too well. (Y/N) and Edd attempted to get Tom off Tord but his grip was too strong for them.
"What did you do?" Tom growled, harshly pulling on the fabric. Tord gave a sly smile as he faced Tom.
"Whatever do you mean?"
"You know what I mean, commie! (Y/N) came to us crying! So, I ask you, what did you do?!" Tord looked behind Tom to see (Y/N), she had taken the trenchcoat off, her eyes red and tears stained her cheeks. He felt his smirk fall, but he quickly put his mask back on.
"I just talked to her and told her how similar we are now,"
"That is the worst thing you could say to her! She cared so much about you and you couldn't even spare a few minutes to find (Y/N) and tell her goodbye!" Tord stared at the ground. The truth is, he did try.
-
Where is she? I want to say goodbye to her before I leave. Tord thought to himself as he ran around the house to try and find the girl who meant so much to him.
"(Y/N)!" Tord cupped his hands together, hoping it would help him find (Y/N). He didn't hear a response and let out a sigh. He'd been looking for ten minutes and it would get dark soon if he didn't get on the road right now. He turned around and walked back outside, where his car was parked, closing the trunk and walking to the driver's seat.
"I can't believe Tord is leaving" Edd said, waving to Tord along with Matt, "Goodbye,"
"Good Luck," Matt exclaimed while Tom crossed his arms.
"Good Riddance," Tom said before getting hit with Tord's car.
Tord started to drive away from the house and to the big city. But, he couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt. A guilt that grew the further he got away from Edd's house and his friends. He wanted so bad to turn back and figure out what he felt guilty about. Instead, he shook it off and hoped it would go away on it's own.
-
"How do you know I didn't try?" Tord and Tom were both shocked by his response. Edd and (Y/N) were both reluctant to let go of Tom and kept an eye on the two rivals. Tom let go of Tord and shoved him away before going to his room. The three watched Tom walk down the stairs, (Y/N) and Edd worried for him while Tord stood alone. He was glad to have been able to shock Tom, but he felt his eyes water as he thought about how one move could have changed everything.
Maybe things wouldn't be so bad if he'd just come back and said goodbye.
