Fitz, Sophie, her parents and all the Dizznees (don't forget the horse) had made it through the big golden glowing gates, all exhausted from their long walk and the hard days leading up to it. After a stable boy had taken away Fitz's horse (they were careful not to wake up the triplets), the group walked up to big crystal doors. As soon as they had stepped foot into the castle, the king and queen rushed into the extravagant main hallway.
"Oh, Fitz!" Screamed Queen Della as she engulfed him in an embrace. King Alden eyed his son with pure concern. "We have been so worried! Are you alright? Are you hurt? Oh dear, you're so pale!"
"I'm fine, Mother. It's Deck-" Sophie nudged him. "Sorry, Dex here that you should be worried about."
That seemed to be the first time the King and Queen notices that they had been there. Their focus went from Sophie holding Lex in her arms to Grady and Dex (Dex was still so weak that Grady had to support him), then their eyes saw Edaline carrying Bex and Rex.
"Oh my goodness! " The queen exclaimed. "Sophie, you've been found! And those poor children! We must help them. Please, follow us."
She gestured towards a huge marble staircase up on the left, and she turned swiftly around. Alden, who was now eyeing a very pale and sick Dex, called for servants to bring Dex up the stairs.
Edaline, Sophie and Fitz walked behind them, each one of them holding a triplet. Sophie could start to feel Lex, whom she was holding, start to move slightly. She rubbed his back soothingly and muttered little nothings quietly to help him stay asleep. She didn't noticed Fitz smiling at her lightly.
"Here we are!" Queen Della said quietly, as she opened the door to a beautifully decorated room. The blue-painted room was immense, with light yellow drapes covering the windows and a huge crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling. There were three small beds on the left wall, and a queen-sized bed on the right. In front of them, huge windows let in the moonlight, showing the beautiful landscape outside. "This is the perfect room for..." She looked at the triplets and at Dex. "What is their family name?"
"Dizznee," Sophie answered in a small voice, careful to not wake the small figure in her arms. "I have Lex, Fitz had Bex, and Edaline - my mother - has Rex. Grady and King Alden have Dex, and I'm afraid that he'll need some medical attention."
Queen Della nodded, and looked at the strawberry-blonde boy. Dex looked like he was on the verge of passing out. She spoke to the servant."Esther, could you bring Dex and..."
"Grady," Edaline filled in.
"And Grady to the hospital wing? He could be of assistance."
The servant nodded. Grady helped hold Dex. "You are going to be alright," He said to Dex, who looked slightly panicked. "I promise, I don't bite." With that, the three elves left the room, and Fitz, Edaline and Sophie put a triplet each in their own bed. Sophie kissed Lex's forehead before walking over to the others.
"Sophie, would you like to stay in the room you were in before?" Asked Queen Della softly, gazing at the young girl sweetly. Sophie forced a smile back. "I'd like to have a room near here, if that's alright. It would help to be near the triplets."
Della smiled and nodded, turning towards Edaline for an answer. Edaline responded without hesitation, however, Sophie wasn't paying attention. Her eyes kept shifting back towards where the three little Dizznees lay, fast asleep, unaware of what was going on. They were free of troubles for a while.
They were so young to be going through all this. The attack, the tension, losing parents, a very ill older brother. It pained her to see them having to go through this; she had had to go through hard times at a young age as well.
"Sophie? Are you alright? " She heard someone ask. She hummed for the person to repeat what they had said, and finally tore her eyes away from the three peacefully sleeping figures. Her brown eyes met teal, glistening with concern. "Are you alright? " Fitz repeated.
She nodded hastily. "Y-yes. I'm fine."
Even as she said so, Fitz narrowed his eyes at her - he didn't believe a word she said. Before he could ask further, Edaline tapped her daughter on the shoulder. "Sweetie? I think that we should go to bed now. We've had a long day."
Sophie looked one last time at Lex, Rex and Bex, before nodding slowly. She waved goodnight to Fitz as she followed Queen Della and Edaline out the crystal door.
