Sophie and Fitz walked through the dark halls of the Neverseen headquarters, trying to look genuine. Sophie tried to look nervous, as she usually did when a Neverseen member brought her to the interrogation room; and it wasn't hard. Butterflies swirled in her stomach as she walked, hoping that she could get out of this terrible place and that no one would get hurt.

Fitz and Sophie arrived at the top of a tall staircase, both panting slightly, and were both surprised to come face to face with a Neverseen member. Sophie couldn't tell who it was, since their hood was pulled up, but her heart pounded in fear.

"What is going on?" Asked the cloaked figure suspiciously. "The girl isn't supposed to be moved."

"I was told to bring her to another room," Fitz lied smoothly, his voice sounding slightly different. "Do you have a problem with that?"

Sophie's heart clenched; if this Neverseen member was in one of the higher positions, Fitz would be punished for speaking to a superior officer like that. She crossed her fingers behind her back, praying that they would be allowed by.

The member seemed to have skipped over Fitz's sassy question, and instead focused on the fact that Sophie was being moved. "Who told you to move the girl?"

Sophie could feel Fitz tense. He didn't know the names of the main leaders here, and one mistake would end everything.

"Lady Gisela," She butted in, even though she knew she shouldn't talk. "He was told by Lady Gisela to move me."

The cloaked figure turned his attention to her. "I didn't ask you, imbecile." In fury, he slapped her across the face.

Sophie flinched, gritting her teeth at the pain, and she backed up a bit into Fitz. The member looked satisfied (well, from what she could tell with the hood), and turned their attention back to Fitz.

"Next time, you answer the question when you are talked to. Not the prisoner. You may continue."

They stepped to the side of the hall, and allowed Fitz and Sophie to keep walking. As soon as they were out of earshot, Fitz whispered to Sophie, concerned.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to get you hurt-"

"It's fine, Fitz," She whispered back. "There's nothing you could have done, it would have blown our cover. Don't worry about it."

They both fell silent as they noticed another cloaked figure ahead of them, looking their way. Fitz nodded to them as they walked by, and thankfully, the member nodded back. They hadn't been suspected.

Sophie's legs were beginning to hurt, with the amount of walking they were doing. While being here, she had only ever walked when she was being taken to the interrogation room, and it was never too far from her cell. Now, she and Fitz had been walking for over twenty minutes, and her body wasn't used to the exercise.

"Almost there," Fitz whispered in her ear, as if he sensed that she was getting tired. She nodded in acknowledgement, pushing her legs to keep walking.

Then, before she knew it, Fitz stopped her in front of a trapdoor at the end of a hallway. "This is the way out," Fitz said, letting her hands fall from behind her back. He looked around, looking for a sign that someone was watching, then bent down and opened the trap door.

"Honestly, the Neverseen think that they're so secretive, but they just leave a trap door lying around," Fitz chuckled, hoping to get a laugh out of Sophie. She gave him a weak smile, put one foot in the trap door when-

"We're not secretive, no? Then how did we figure out that you were going to take the girl away?" A voice said from behind them.

Gethen was there, a smirk on his face; he was always a fan a dramatics. Lady Gisela stood beside him, an unimpressed look on her face. Brant, who usually finished the trio, was nowhere to be seen.

Fitz stood in front of Sophie, in a protective stance. "You won't ever touch her again," He growled. Then, turning to her, he whispered. "Go."

She shook her head. "I'm not leaving you; not again."

He pulled her in for a kiss, a short but love-filled one, then pulled away. "Go. I'll see you later, I promise."

Without waiting for her to say anything, he pushed her into the trap door, and shut the door.

She was in total darkness.

And she was totally alone.

"Fitz!" She shrieked, standing up. "Fitz!" Tears streamed down her face as she tried to get back out, banging on the wooden door over her head. It was terrible: she couldn't hear anything that was happening on the other side of the trap door, she was stuck in darkness, and her love was stuck with the people who had tortured her for the past who knows how long. Sobbing, she crumpled to her knees, wishing that Fitz was with her... But there was nothing that she could do.

After sitting on her knees and staring into the darkness, thinking, she decided that there was only one thing that she could do. It was to walk the passage way of the trap door. Trembling, the blonde girl got to her feet, and she walked the muddy, dark, lonely passage way... Away from Fitz.
