Panic flooded Sophie's veins. The mere thought of the evil group who were cruel enough to capture children nearly blinded her with fear. Quickly, with shaky hands, she rose to her feet, and pushed people towards the exit.
"Everyone! We need to go, now!" Sophie exclaimed desperately. The large safe room doors were slowly getting weaker and weaker, and those doors were the only thing separating these innocent people and the Neverseen. She really hadn't wanted to cause panic in the group, but they had no time to lose. The Neverseen would stop at nothing to have her.
Sophie turned around to look at the doors, seeing how much longer they had until they would collapse. Large cracks made their way down to the ground, moving quickly. The doors could collapse within minutes.
She began to forcefully push people towards the exit; even though this earned her a few stink eyes, she knew that it would be worth it once everyone was safe.
Nearly the entire group of elves were in the exit tunnel - only a few remained. However, just as the last few were entering the tunnel, the doors had collapsed. In a huge rumble and shake of the room, the doors fell to the ground in pieces, dust floating in the air. Sophie fell to the ground, yet covered her head to protect herself from any falling debris. She looked up, and waved for the elves to go on without her. She would not let herself be the cause of someone else's death.
She watched the last few elves enter the exit door, close the door a nudge, so that there was a tiny crack left... Then they were gone. Sophie was alone with the Neverseen.
"Get up, girl," An unpleasant voice behind her said. Sophie heard footsteps behind her; dozens of them. She let out a cry when someone kicked her leg. "I said get up!"
Slowly, the blonde girl got to her feet, wincing slightly in pain. She backed up to the exit door, pushing it fully closed. Gathering as much courage as she could, she glared at the cloaked figure in front of her; turns out that glaring at the people who want to kill you is much more terrifying than it sounds.
"So," The snarling voice said under the cloak. "Here we meet again."
The voice sounded slightly familiar... Male, evil, and slightly amused. Almost like...
"Do you not recognise my voice?" The elf teased. "Such a shame. Well, what if I do this?"
The elf took off his hood, and there stood the Neverseen member that Fitz had captured. The last time Sophie had seen him, he had been in a cell in the dungeons.
"You!" Sophie hissed, anger in her eyes. "You evil, deranged, little-"
"I will tell you this now; throwing insults at us in your situation may not end well for you," The elf said, amusement stitched across his face. The crowd of cloaked Neverseen members behind him laughed. Sophie's attention was turned to them. There were about fifty of them, she estimated, all wearing black cloaks with an eye on their right sleeve. Quite creepy, if she was being honest.
"Now, we are really on a tight schedule, so we must get going." He was talking like he was about to do some errands. Oh, how she hated him. "Ruy? Will you do the honours?"
One of the cloaked figures turned towards her. Sophie fisted her hands, even though it was clear that there was really nothing that she could do. The elf - by the name, she supposed he was male - pinned her arms behind her back and pulled her towards him. Though she kicked and struggled, she was no match for Ruy. The leader, whoever he was, strided slowly towards her, a smirk on his face.
"This was much easier than we had expected," He said, grabbing her chin. "It is like you are being given to us on a golden plater."
His hand was close enough for her to bite him; quickly, she bit down on his finger. He shrieked and swore, flinging his hand away from her. Then he rounded on her, a murderous gleam in his eyes.
"Get the sedatives," He growled to one of the Neverseen members. Sophie began struggling again, trying to fling herself out of Ruy's grip. He wouldn't budge.
"Don't touch me!" Sophie hissed as another cloaked figure approached her. The figure reached inside their cloak, and took out a cloth. Sophie began trying to kick her captor, but it was no use; the second cloaked elf put the cloth over her mouth and nose.
Quite quickly, Sophie began to slow down. Dark blotches of colour had appeared in her vision, blocking her view. She tried to fight her fatigue, but she slowly slumped onto her knees. Before she went unconscious, she glared at the leader.
"You'll regret this."
He laughed.
And Sophie knew no more.
