-Jade's POV-

The image of her is burned into my mind. Closed eyes, blissed out face, sun rays drawn to her like I am. I have no idea what I'm doing but with her hand in mine, I really can't find it in me to care.

Many people do not turn when they reach to the top of hill, focused on the main city before them. But I turn. The view is painfully beautiful. The sloping hill, on which the bottom sits the Shack and the forest below it. Under the shade of the trees, the grass is lush, the dawn sun resting onto of the canopy. That's what called me to the forest in the first place, and the comfort within. And that's where I'm taking Ida now. As we step under the shade, I see her shoulder relax as the temperature drops. I direct us into the heart of the forest, keeping a hand on my sword in case trouble arises.

"Sooo," she draws out the word. "I suppose I should ask you whether you're taking me here to kill me."

"And who would bother to kill you?" I ask teasingly, surprised when she gives a dark laugh.

"Oh you have no idea." Then she suddenly grins and all traces of darkness is gone, just like that.

"You know, I've been looking for a fighting teacher. And you look just the type." I tilt my head, a little confused but answer anyways.

"I know a thing or two," I reply and she smiles.

"Will you teach me? Pleaseeee." The puppy eyes almost kill me and I withstand a little long just to savour the cuteness on her normally grim face. But I had the answer all along. And not just because of the trust she somehow gained from me or no, not even the puppy eyes. Because I see the wit in those green eyes, the drive in the set of her body. It's the wild-fire in her soul while I only have embers left. So of course I agree. The massive smile she sends my way brings me so much joy that I suddenly feel weightless.

The trees thin and it opens up to the lake. It seems to shimmer in the sun, light and shadows dancing across the clear blue water and even I'm captured by its beauty for a moment.

"Your bathing chambers Your Highness." I bow mockingly. But she's already tugging of her clothes, diving into the water with barely a splash.

What the hell where you thinking? Screams my inner mind as I advert my eyes. She's still in her t shirt that hangs down to her knees but those unnecessary skirts are gone.

Control yourself. I sit on the bank, dangling my feet in the cool water.

"So tell me," she says after swimming awhile. "Why aren't you working?"

"Oh, a girl's covering for me. She wanted to work and I get the day off." I shrug, still relishing the water.

"When will you be able to teach me? You will be so exhausted after work..."

"I'll be fine, don't worry about me." She looks at me like she can see right through my lie but doesn't say anything. She used her legs to push off the bank, floating on her back in the middle of the lake. I take that picture with my mind, tucking it away for safekeeping.

While she relaxes, I cup my hands, scooping up water and watching it slid through my hands with a satisfying smile. Suddenly her head appears, splashing up the water and I supress a scream. She starts laughing, uncontrollably, and crashes back under the water in hysterics. I can't help but laugh too.

And in that moment we were just two teenagers, two friends, laughing.

And I won't let anything ruin that.

Just a little scene to cheer up your day :)

The next couple scenes will be short like this so the next chapter will be in like two days or something
