The Ending

I stand by the edge of the cliff, cold sea salt air pulling my hair back, numbing my face. I tug my fur-lined coat closer to stop it flapping in the wind, warding off the chill. The guards were only a short while away but this far from the capital means we wouldn't encounter much trouble.

I had dug through the Archives and that, coupled with the knowledge I already knew, led me to this place. The place where Ida once lived.

A nameless Seaside village.

I watch waves flow and crash, sending salt water splashing up to hide my tears.

A month. One month since everything.

And I'm still here.

But I'm not alone anymore

The waves crash again and I wipe my face. I never really forgave myself for...well everything. Maybe I won't ever. But the grief that has been weighing on my shoulders, it was time to let that go.

I take a deep breath, imagining, remembering Ida and letting the pain dissipate, bit by bit. Every afternoon training, every kiss, every night with my arms around her. Not tainted with blue sadness with a golden glow of happiness.

Of a beauty once lived. Of a past now corrected.

I'm not going to forget Ida, no, never. I just let go of the guilt, the bulk of the pain.

For the good of Vreca, for which I rule over.

For Ida, who I now know with certainty, wants to me remember her without breaking down.

For every other female, mother or child, who had fought and lost.

For myself.

Because I lived on, even when she didn't.

---------------

They tell a story of the Queen

Who changed Vreca forever

Who proved women are powerful

In a world where they were seen as useless.

Mothers tell their daughters

Of a woman who fought for them

Who ruled for them

Because some stories fade into history

But they remembered her for centuries.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh omg I'm freaking OUT. This is my last (actual) chapter of this story and omg omg omg. There will be my last authors note in the chapter tomorrow <3333
