Jacob awoke in his bed as the sun just began to rise.
He looked around his dimly lit room and rubbed his eyes, "It's too early... why do I feel so awake?"
He tore the covers off of his body and swung himself off of his bed.
Like always, Jacob's room was spotless. Not a speck of dust in sight.
As Jacob approached his bedroom door, he heard footsteps coming close to him and assumed it was his father. Slowly, he opened the door and was greeted by Delacroix.
"Good morning Jacob. Glad to see you're awake this early," Delacroix grinned.
"You're not real..." Jacob closed his eyes and affirmed himself with lies he knew weren't true.
"Oh, you know I'm very real... come on, it's time to go," Delacroix reached out his hand and expected Jacob to finally open his eyes.
Jacob remained stationary with his eyes tightly shut.
Delacroix sighed and held his arm closer to Jacob, "I'm still here."
Jacob opened one eye and examined Delacroix. He had no hood on, so his guard must be down.
"Where are we going?" Jacob asked as he grabbed Delacroix's hand.
"Somewhere safe. Remember what I told you, your role is far more important than you think it is..." Delacroix explained as he led Jacob down the hallway into a portal.
The two entered Jacob's shared dreamscape where Marina was waiting patiently for them.
"Finally you two showed up!" Marina exclaimed, running into Jacob for a hug.
"Marina? What are you doing here?" Jacob asked, confused about the situation.
"Delacroix told me we were going to somewhere where it was safer. He said I could bring my dolls too!"
Delacroix closed the portal behind them and began trying to open another one.
"As much as it pains me to say this, you two won't be going to the same world..." Delacroix announced.
"What?" Marina pouted, running over to Delacroix, "But what about everyone else? We're all going to be alone?"
Delacroix looked at Marina and noticed she began to cry. He crouched and wiped her tears, "You will be in a better place and it won't be for long... I will make sure to come for all of you. You guys are so important to me and to the safety of your paradoxes."
The two portals opened as Delacroix rose from comforting Marina.
"Jacob, you'll be going in alone, I'll be with Marina for the time being... I'm afraid this is the last time we will be seeing each other for a while," Delacroix announced.
"You told me that you would explain everything eventually... Delacroix, I just want to know... Are we really so special?" Jacob asked.
Delacroix cast a blade out of bright light, "This is yours, Jacob. The is the Blade of Dawn, and I want you to have it. You remember Vincent, right? The connection you had with him inside of his dreamscape... was something I didn't do myself. Marina doesn't quite understand it yet but she has dreamed of her parallel lives on other dreamscapes, and she puts those memories into her dolls' lives... You, Marina, and the rest of your friends can't stay in your hometown, for I fear your paradox will come to an end just as Limbo almost had..."
Jacob took the blade from Delacroix and held onto it firmly, "Why can't I stay and fight for our world? Why do I have to run and leave everyone behind?"
"I saw it in my dreams, Jacob... this is our chance to save our paradox," Marina explained.
"And... other paradoxes from a similar fate..." Delacroix whispered to himself as he looked off into the distance.
Jacob turned to his portal and slowly walked away.
"Be careful, Jacob. I'll see you again soon!" Marina yelled as Jacob became enveloped in light.
"Come on now, you need to be put somewhere just as safe as him. But this time I will be with you," Delacroix explained as he led Marina into the other portal.
From the distance, and with a clenched fist, Aaron watched Delacroix separate and take his friends away.
