Rosalia took Rin alone to a fancy restaurant for lunch as a way to restitch the bond between her and her daughter.
"I contacted the council and have yet to receive word on any upcoming elections," Rosalia explained as she sipped her iced tea.
The two sat outside on a terrace alone.
"I know if you had to resign, I would be next," Rin explained as she sat back in her chair and watched her mother drink.
"Unless Axel were to show up before the time came," Rosalia said as she put her glass down gently, "Even then, I don't think they would ask me to step down just yet,"
"Why not?" Rin asked.
"I feel as if it's too early for anyone to be elected. We know that Lucifer is still alive, the people only think of it as a rumor," Rosalia explained.
"And the council?" Rin asked.
"I let them know, but they have always kept me on their bad side, unfortunately," Rosalia explained as she indicated for a waiter to approach them.
Rin turned her head to the right where miles of forest were ahead of her.
"You could always run for reelection, can't you?" Rin asked.
"I can, but it's up to the council and the people's vote regardless," Rosalia explained as the waiter poured Rosalia more iced tea.
"I had another question. Why was it us who was elected as the Conscript?" Rin asked with a more serious look on her face.
Rin bent her eyebrows and looked worried as if her mother was going to give a vague answer.
"I... I wanted you and Axel to become members of the Conscript not only because one of you was going to be the next Butterfly Spirit, but because I saw strength in the both of you. I chose the Valentfernas as a way to test their purity. I knew from the very beginning that they were darkness," Rosalia explained.
"That... shocked me the most. What about Nagan?" Rin asked.
"Nagan was already going to grow out of the system. I knew he would be twenty-one by the time anything major would happen," Rosalia explained.
"So you knew about Lucifer?" Rin asked, sitting up straight.
"Of course I didn't... I assumed something like this would happen. The same reason why I was there for the final battle..." Rosalia explained.
"That day... was full of fear. To be honest, it was not what I expected. It happened so fast and I didn't even realize how much more that day meant to the Valenfernas," Rin explained.
"I know... They had to kill their father after all. I thought none of them would have the courage to actually kill their father like that..." Rosalia said as she crossed her arms and leaned back.
"I talked to Taurus and Vincent about it afterward. They told me that at the moment, they weren't themselves. Vincent specifically told me that he wished they were able to talk through everything, but his duties pointed him in a different direction," Rin explained.
