"So this is Garza..." Vincent said as he watched the stars from the rooftop of Pomes's home.
"I brought you some water. It's tap, just to let you know," Mai said as she walked up to the roof to sit alongside Vincent.
"Thank you, I don't mind," Vincent said as he took the small cup of water and helped Mai sit down, "How are you feeling?"
"I'm doing much better. I think I just needed a break." Mai explained as Vincent put his right arm over her.
"I was thinking, can I practice my gift on you? You know, how I went into your core," Mai asked Vincent, touching his chest.
"You can do anything you want with me," Vincent said as he sat up straight.
Mai closed her eyes and touched Vincent's chest.
On the outside, Mai fell asleep. But spiritually, she faded into Vincent's now corrupt dreamscape.
"Wha- what has happened?" Mai said as she looked all around her.
The clouds were a dark grey, the buildings of Crescent City were destroyed and the scent of smoke was present as if the town was on fire.
"So you are the one he loves," Peractorum said as he crept up from behind Mai.
Mai jumped at the sound of his voice and quickly turned around.
"Sorry, you startled me," Mai said with a small giggle, "Do you think you can explain to me what is going on here?"
"Vincent's dreamscape has, unfortunately, became corrupt over time due to a hazardous Omen. The Omen that has infected his core is Chaos, the fox of anger, hate, and fear." Peractorum explained.
"Long ago, I entered his core and witnessed the Omen itself. Being an Oracle, do you think I can contact him?" Mai asked, holding her hands together.
"I don't doubt it, but that would depend on how experienced an Oracle you are," Peractorum said as he nodded.
"Well, I don't have anyone to teach me the ways of my race, but I am confident in my practice and will do my best," Mai said as she tried to focus herself into the core of Vincent.
"Good luck, Vincent's lover." Peractorum wished as he watched Mai fade away.
Mai entered the grassy crossroads of Vincent, fading directly in front of the massive heart that was his core.
Underneath his floating heart was a small pond with a black koi fish swimming in it.
"Greetings La, the water must be nice," Mai said as she crouched down putting her hand in the water.
The black koi fish began swimming around Mai's hands ecstatically at the fact she had company.
"What kind of sign am I looking for... Maybe I could try and talk to La." Mai suggested to herself as she closed her eyes.
Mai's blood turned hot and her temperature began rising, causing her to sweat. Her makeup began removing itself and she began sweating physically on the outside of Vincent's dreamscape.
Mai felt a cool breeze as she opened her eyes to notice that Vincent's core had turned to night time.
On the other side of Vincent's heart, a bright white light slightly blinded Mai. She noticed a figure standing there, but the heart was blocking her view.
"I rarely ever have guests," La said with her sweet and unintentionally seductive voice.
"I am honored to be in the presence of an Omen, m'lady," Mai explained as she bowed.
"Well, you are an Oracle after all. What is it that I can help you with?" La asked.
"I am Vincent's wife, you see-"
"I am aware. You can skip the introduction, what is it you need to ask me, dear," La explained trying to help Mai feel more comfortable.
"I'm sorry. We want to know all there is about Chaos and how he ended up inside of Vincent." Mai asked.
"Chaos... he-" La hesitated.
"Chaos was taken from us long ago. He disappeared alongside his greatest enemy, Emergence. She was the first to disappear before Chaos. Then the destruction of Eden occurred, a day of faith that I try to forget every day. In all honesty, I don't know how he ended up inside Vincent, but he isn't as harmful as you think. He may represent hate, anger, and fear... but he has an opening. Emergence was not only his enemy but his best friend at one point." La explained.
"So why has he corrupted Vincent's dreamscape?" Mai asked, sitting down like it was storytime.
"Because of the emotions Chaos represents, it's how he's settling in. Vincent's dreamscape should return to normal in time. Now, back to what I was saying. Emergence and Chaos had a healthy relationship until they became toxic to each other. They were able to lift each other up but also tear each other down. If Vincent ever finds Emergence, he will feel attracted to her. Not romantically, but will want to be around her all the time. But the essence of Chaos will kill her and vice versa. Out of all of us Omens, Chaos and Emergence are the only two that have the chance to leave this world," La explained.
"So basically, Chaos and Emergence are guilty pleasures to each other. Like it literally kills them to be around each other." Mai said, reassuring herself.
"Exactly. On Eden, they were always around each other, but suffered from horrible health problems due to the fact they were so close."
"Oh okay, got it. I would like to say though, I know where Emergence is... I figured you would too." Mai explained.
"You- You know where she is? I understand why you would think I would know." La explained.
"Emergence has entered a crystal stasis on the princess of Light, Rin Kogarashi," Mai explained.
"So that explains it... she has chosen the Princess," La said as a tear fell from her left eye.
"How does understanding where they are work?" Mai asked.
"When we were sent from Eden, we manifested into beings of nature, hence why we most of us are animals before we find a human to latch onto. In our habitats, we are connected to the eldest of us Omens, Yggdrasil. We can sense each other through Yggdrasil and she can sense us. So when we got to Asphodel, we all knew the nine of us were safe in our habitats until we couldn't sense Chaos or Emergence anymore. The thing about Emergence is that when she enters her crystal stasis, she becomes untraceable. It's a defense mechanism." La explained.
"That explains why Rin is in her crystal stasis. But Rosalia, Rin's mother, said Emergence was cursed onto her. She explained to me and the conscript that when Rin was young, she was attacked in the castle by an ambush and was cursed with Emergence." Mai explained, remembering the information she knew about Emergence.
"Strange... Did Rosalia say this? I would pay close attention to her. As one of the koi fish swimming in her courtyard, I can say that my habitat wasn't always that pond." La explained.
Mai suddenly had a ringing in her ear, causing her to rapidly stand up.
"You've been here for quite some time, you must be a very experienced Oracle. Don't be dream running, it can get you in trouble with the Book of Asphodel. The Gods are not the nicest people." La explained.
"I think I have to go..." Mai said as she faded away immensely fast.
Mai awoke next to Vincent with closed eyes.
"Oh, my Gods, my head..." Mai said as she sat up straight.
The sun was beginning to rise, and soldiers were seen walking around the town as if an intruder was there.
"I guess we fell asleep on the roof," Mai said with a small and quiet laugh, "Mai looked at the rise from the roof, "I don't know..."
Mai crunched up and hugged her knees, watching the sunrise. Thinking about Vincent's attraction to Rin being just Chaos and Emergence.
"What kind of pain will Vincent endure throughout his attraction?" Mai said to herself, feeling sad and jealous.
