Ark I - The PromiseThe night was young, and the city was alive and happy. The streets flourished with laughter and smiles.
Crescent City was celebrating two years of peace on Asphodel by hosting a festival and parade with a firework show towards the end.
The light from the city resonated over the walls of the city that night.
The festival took place in the residential part of town which was far from the castle. Only Rosalia was attending the festival, as the ambassador.
From a balcony high above, Axel watched the festivities take place.
"Do you too, wish to visit the festival?" Mizore asked as she walked onto the balcony from Axel's room.
"I do... actually. I sometimes, feel bad for all of us. I think we grew up a little too fast." Axel explained as a cold breeze blew, messing up Axel's hair.
Mizore sighed, walking up to the edge of the balcony next to Axel.
"What's the point of the festival if a new Satan will eventually emerge again?" Mizore asked.
"The people here are somewhat blind to that fact. We're supposed to be celebrating for the now. The reason they're happy tonight is because it's been peaceful for two years already, and there has been no war." Axel explained.
"It's pointless though. I don't understand why you would be celebrating if it will always come back."
"You never know Mizore, maybe a new Satan won't emerge." Axel tried explaining.
"Maybe one will..." Mizore said as she walked back inside.
Meanwhile. Vincent sat on his unmade bed, slouched over. Behind him, the doors to his balcony were open, allowing the breeze to flow inside, swaying the white floor-length curtains.
Next to the doors was Ezra's crib, where he slept peacefully.
"What's wrong babe?" Mai asked as she walked into the room.
She closed the door behind her and sat next to Vincent, putting her arms around him.
"I don't know what we're going to do about Ezra. I want him to have a normal life, and not be surrounded by all of this." Vincent explained, regarding the Conscript.
"He's a part of the Satanic bloodline Vincent, there are more things we should be worried about.
"I know... Like what Devil Genesis he might get. What if he makes a new one like Reborn? There is so much I don't know that I wish I did... I need answers." Vincent explained.
"I've never gotten around to asking you this, but what does being a part of the Satanic bloodline mean?" Mai asked.
"We're gifted with Devil Genesis. It's not much of a gift, but whatever. Each Satan's bloodline is the same, but for some reason the Devil Genesis stops triggering at a certain generation, preventing the next use of a Devil Genesis. It's usually because the Satan from the bloodline is not the Satan anymore. It is expected that the oldest child becomes the next Satan from the bloodline once they die, but the fact that neither Taurus nor I have attended the ceremony is preventing the next Satan to emerge. It's also a huge secret that we are the children of Greed and also fighting in the Light Conscript." Vincent explained.
"So maybe Ezra won't get a Devil Genesis?" Mai assumed.
"Who knows honestly. The Dark Court is waiting on one of us to come forward before the end of this year. Or else they might have to select a new Satan that is not from our family. It might also result in assassination due to us being really young with the powers of Devil Genesis, but who knows." Vincent explained.
