***TRIGGER WARNING***
Shortly after Taeyang's birth, your friend had become pregnant with Jikook's son, Dal, and delivered him safely just 10 months after Taeyang.
As the years went by, everyone was inseparable, including Taeyang and Dal. The two kids had become the very best of friends until everything they knew was about to be changed in an instant.
As the kids played at the office daycare, the members found themselves in the meeting that they had all been dreading. It was time to decide whether or not to renew their contract. Since they were made exempt from military duties due to their financial contributions to their country, they no longer had that to loom over their heads, which made their bittersweet decision a bit easier. They were all at a point in their lives where they wanted different things and they all knew it. As much as they didn't want to disband, they knew that it was time. The decision was unanimous in regards to not renewing. Instead, they made a new unwritten contract to always be family no matter how much time or distance might come between them.Upon completion of their contract meeting, the BTS family had a huge dinner to celebrate their accomplishments and to toast to their future endeavors. All of the announcements were shared with their significant others and children before they would go public with the news. Tae and his family decided to move to LA, where Tae would run the Hybe US division. Jimin and Jungkook decided to stay just where they were with their little family so that everyone always had family to return to in Korea. They also kept their second homes in London. Joon and Jin decided that they wanted to travel the world together as a couple and just enjoy life as they never quite had before while they were under contract. Yoongi and Hobi would move to the US with Tae's family. However, they would part ways in LA as Sope and their girlfriend would continue on to their new home in New York City, where they would recruit new talent for Hybe US.
The kids took the news the hardest and didn't want to leave the only true friend that either of them had ever known. However, they both knew that they didn't have a choice in the matter at their young ages. There goodbye was extremely emotional and they promised to keep in touch. Despite their good intentions, the kids lost touch when they started to find new friends in primary school and get busy with their new normals without each other. Although they lost touch, they were always in each other's thoughts and hearts.Shortly after Taeyang turned 18, her mom and dad were killed in a tragic car accident. This traumatic event forced her to go back home to Korea to stay with her only family left there, her Uncle Jimin and Uncle Jungkook. Since she had no other family in LA, it made the most sense to return to Korea to bury her parents and make some difficult decisions about her future. She was so little when they moved that she practically forgot how everyone looked, especially Dal.
After collecting her luggage, Taeyang stored it in a locker and decided to take a stroll before going to see her uncles.
As she walked mindlessly, she found herself walking past the outdoor dining area of the cafe that her parents and her frequented when she was little. She dropped to her knees and held her heart when she heard a familiar song. As tears started to pool in her eyes, the song got louder as it got closer and then she heard a voice."Miss...are you ok? Do you need help?" the young man said as he looked at her with concern.
She slowly lifted her head, with tears rolling down her cheeks, barely able to speak but managed to utter..."that song...how did you get my song?"
He stared at her for a moment, not quite sure how to react to this strange girl that seemed so sad over his special song. After a moment, he responded.
"Your song?" he questioned. His brows furrowed a bit in confusion.
"My Dad used to hum this song to me when I was little" he said.
Still crying, she replied, "My Dad wrote that song for me and my Mom when I was a little girl. He had a locket made for me that played the song but it got lost when we moved. I sing our song all the time to remember them" she sobbed.
The young man cautiously rubbed her shoulder to console her.
"Hmm...no...there was no locket...my Uncle used to hum that tune around my Dads. My Dad always used to hum it to me. When my Uncle moved away, my Dad stopped humming the song because I was sad since it reminded me of a friend I used to have. She was as beautiful as the song. My Dad just recently started humming it again. He really misses my Uncle. I had him make it into my ringtone because I love it so much."She sniffled. "I'm sorry about your Uncle."
He half smiled and replied, "Thanks but...he wasn't actually my Uncle. He was my Dad's best friend. I just called him Uncle because he was like family. He moved away when was I pretty little so I don't remember him as much as I'd like." A sad look crossed his face as he thought of his Uncle Tae and his beautiful daughter...his childhood best friend. He wished he had more time with them, especially now that he and his wife recently passed away in an accident. With sadness in his eyes, he looked at her and rubbed her shoulder more, still trying to console the heartbroken girl."You know...you actually remind me of my Uncle Tae's daughter. She was beautiful, just like you" he smiled as she slowly lifted her head to look at him. The tears in her eyes made her eyes sparkle like the stars in the night sky.
"Tae?" she said, practically breathless as she held her chest. "My Dad's name was Tae. Are you...? No...no...you couldn't be...are...are you by any chance Jimin and Jungkook's son...Park Jung Dal?"
"Could this really be the girl I had a crush on when I was little?"..."Could this truly be my beautiful friend that was taken away from me when we were young?"..."Could there truly be light in this darkest of times?" he thought to himself before responding to her. He took a good look at her and smiled as he said softly, "I am...yes"
He paused briefly before he continued, "Taeyang...is it really you?""Dal!!! It is you!!!" she gasped as she sprung towards him and wrapped her arms tightly around him as she continued to sob. "You're everything I need in this moment. I've missed you...I've missed my Moon...so much! I'm never leaving you again" she said as she started to instantly calm down from his embrace. In that moment, she knew she was exactly where she was meant to be.
"I've missed you more...my beautiful Sun. You are me and I am you...always." he whispered in her ear, "I'll never let you go again."
He held her tight, as he looked to the sky and mouthed the words "thank you" to his angels above for this fateful, chance encounter at his favorite cafe.
