Chapter 33: There's No Place Like Home

You finally depart Los Angeles and make your way back to Korea with the boys. During the long flight back, you start to think about Tannie and Minnie. You hope the sitter, your artistic friend from bowling, is being good to them. You feel so bad leaving them all this time, never expecting that you'd stay in the States so long.
You turn to Tae, your face looking so sad, "babe, I miss the puppers."
"Me too, sweetie. Don't worry, they are keeping each other company at our London home" he smiles.
"I guess", still sad, you go back to watching the in-flight movie.
You finally land at Incheon Airport.
The security detail meets you and your girls at a side entrance. They get all of you loaded into the caravans before heading out front to wait for the boys. You all wait patiently because this normally takes a little while.
After about a half hour or so, you see all of the cameras and flashing lights. With the exception of your bestie, you prepare yourselves by putting your hats and face masks on.
Even though your in different vans, you all know the drill by now to avoid exposure to ARMY.
You finally see Tae walking towards the van, looking like an in-flight snack in his tight gray sweater and khakis.
Instead of getting in your van, he heads to the van behind you. "What is he doing?" you think to yourself. Tae doesn't get into the other van. He just grabs a weekender-sized bag and then heads back towards the van meant for the two of you.
As soon as the door closes behind him, he begins to open the bag and says, "surprise!"
Tannie and Minnie peek their cute little heads out of the bag.
"My babies!" you cry out. "How did you get here?!"
You look to Tae, waiting for an explanation.
"You know...of course it was my doing. As soon as I knew we were heading back to Korea, I made the arrangements" he tells you.
"You seriously think of everything...you are thoughtful and sneaky. I love it" you say and lean over to give him a kiss.
You pull the pups completely out of the bag and their tongues begin attacking your face with wet kisses.
You pull them away from your face and notice new charms attached to their collars that say "his" and "hers".
"What are these for?" you ask Tae.
With the biggest grin on his face, he replies with, "you'll see!"
Your van suddenly separates from the train of vans heading towards the apartment building shared by BTS. Exhausted and just ready to get home, you roll down the privacy window and say to the driver, "This isn't the right way."
"No worries, Mrs. Kim, I know a short cut" he replies.
You trust that he knows what he's doing and sit back in your seat, closing your eyes to rest for the remainder of the ride.
After about a half hour, you arrive at a beautiful, unfamiliar building.
"Babe, wake up. We're here," Tae whispers softly into your ear.
When you open your eyes, Tae is dangling the "hers" charm in front of your face.
"Here, take yours" he says with a mischievous smile on his face.
"What are you doing with Minnie's new charm?" you ask, still half asleep.
"Just take it! Let's go!" he urges and places it into your hand.
You comply and exit the van with him, leaving the pups in the driver's care. He grabs your hand and leads you towards the entrance to the vast building.
"Put your charm up to this sensor" he instructs.
Completely confused, you still does as he says.
The front doors open after following Tae's instructions. You now realize that the charm is a key fob.
"I'm so confused" you sleepily giggle.
"I know and I love it!" he teases.
You get into an elevator on the right side of the main lobby.
Tae hits the button that has an "O" on it.
"A hotel? Babe, why can't we just go home?" you ask.
"You'll see" he says again, just as he had earlier in the van.
You step off of the elevator after arriving at the floor Tae selected.
In front of you is a door with the number "15" on it.
Tae removes the "his" charm from his pocket and places it against the door knob. The door unlocks and he opens the door and motions for you to enter.
At this point, you don't even question him anymore because he'll probably just respond with a playful "you'll see."
Tae grabs your hand and leads you around the furnished rooms.
After each room, he says, "nice, huh?"
You nod in agreement, still completely confused as to why you couldn't have just gone home like the rest of the family did.
"I saved the best for last" he says and opens the door to a lavender colored room.
When you walk in, you immediately see a crib with a name on the wall above it that says "Celine", along with some Korean lettering.
You turn to Tae with tears in your eyes.
"Surprise! Welcome home to our new 15th floor lux apartment!" he says.
Tears start streaming down your face.
"How? Why? We just got a home in LA and already have our London home" you ask.
"I set this up when I flew back for the Comeback. My shit was perfect on the first takes, so I didn't have any track work left like the other members. I spent my days on-call if they needed me and I searched for this place. I hired a decorator because I wanted it to be ready as soon as we arrived back in Korea. I hope you like it and aren't regretting marrying someone like me that has to travel all the time" he tells you.
"I love it and I never have and never will regret my decision" you tell him. "Best decision of my life!" you say as tears continue to stream down your face.
Tae wipes your tears away with his thumbs.
"I just thought it would be nice to have a place to call home near my family too" he smiles sweetly.
"It's perfect! Let's invite them over right after we unpack" you smile back at him.
"There's no place like home" Tae sighs in relief now that he's finally done revealing his secrets to you.
