That horrific night, from the brothers' end, started with a text. A warning. A final goodbye. In the group chat with all seven brothers and MC, MC sent this message:
"Hey. Sorry for the late message but I have to say this. I just wanted to say I love you all so much. You really were a family to me. Sorry for being so selfish. Goodbye."
Separately but all at once, the brothers saw the message.
When Leviathan, Beelzebub, and Belphegor saw the text at first they assumed MC was running away.
When Asmodeus and Satan saw the text they weren't sure what MC was saying, but knew it was something very bad.
When Lucifer and Mammon saw the text they understood. Lucifer froze. Mammon ran.

Mammon ran to the human's room and broke open the locked door. The door didn't matter. MC mattered.
He saw them sitting on their bed slouched to the wall, eyes hazy.
"MC!" He yelled and ran up to them. He grabbed their sides in a panic. They were still alive and partially conscious. With some effort, their eyes looked up to the demon's face.
"Mammon..?" They mumbled.
"Yeah, it's me, are you okay?!" He lifted one hand to hold their face up to easier look them in the eyes. Their hazy eyes went back and forth.
"Mamm...on..?" They mumbled quieter that time.
"Yes. It's me, Mammon. I've got you." He spoke trying to calm both himself and MC down.
"What is this?" Satan asked as he entered the room. Mammon didn't turn from the human.
"They tried to kill themself." He explained. The human attempted to nod their head 'yes', but only ended up moving a few millimeters. Satan approached silently and scanned their body. On either side of their body sat their phone and an empty pill bottle. He reached for the bottle but realized it had no label.
"MC, what did you take?" Satan asked, hoping it was a medicine he'd read about and therefore could help.
"A... A lot..." They mumbled.
"No, I understand you took this whole bottle, but WHAT did you take?" He insisted. The human's hazy eyes drooped down towards the floor.
"Does it really matter?" Lucifer asked as he entered, finally free from his frozen state. Levi entered soon after.
"What's going on?" The envious demon asked.
"A suicide attempt." Lucifer explained. Hearing that from down the hall, Asmo rushed in.
"Oh no oh no oh no-" he ran past Lucifer and Levi to see MC's face. It was pale as a sheet and their eyes looked like a spell was cast on them.
"What happened? What did they do to themself?" Asmo's voice cracked as tears started to well in his eyes.
"I don't have any information on what it was, but they've clearly overdosed on something." Satan explained, trying to help in any way he could. Beel and Belphie entered just in time to hear Satan.
"So... they wanted to die?" Belphie asked, trying to understand.
"That doesn't matter now. We're not letting them." Lucifer spoke up.
"We're not letting them." Beel repeated, taking a step forward. The human coughed and fell forward into Mammon's arms.
"It's okay, I gotcha, we're gonna help you." He said supportively. He held them in a loving manner with a supportive hand on their back and mouth to their ear. He could no longer see their face but the others could now. It was painful to see them that way. They didn't have the energy to look up at them all.
"Mammon... stop helping me... let me go." They whispered as tears rolled down their cheeks. Mammon wanted to yell, but stayed at a regular volume as to not blow out their ears.
"No, ain't no way I'm gonna let you go now." His voice hitched as he tried to stop himself from crying. "I care way too much to let you die. If you don't wanna live, fine, but I want you to live and I'm gonna force you to okay?" Tears fell down his face as his voice fell to a whisper only MC could hear. "I love you. I'm sorry I'm too much of a wimp to say it often enough but if it's what you need to survive I'll tell you every day. I love you. I need you. Please, don't go." That was the last thing MC heard before they fell unconscious.
