Ship: one-sided Diavolo x Belphegor
Perspective: Diavolo, third personDiavolo sat in the student council hall, doing work. Barbatos stood at his side, diligently assisting in whatever he needed.
"Lucifer said you want to talk to me?" Belphegor entered the room. Diavolo smiled seeing him.
"Yes, I do. Barbatos, could you leave the room, please? I'd like to talk to him alone." He instructed.
"Of course, sir." Barbatos walked out and stood by the door, patient as ever.
"Okay, what did I do?" Belphie sighed.
"What?" Diavolo raised an eyebrow.
"You only call one of us here to talk alone when we've done something wrong. What is it? Are you mad at me for sleeping through too many meetings?" Belphie asked exhaustedly.
"No, you aren't in trouble. I'd just like to talk to you." Diavolo explained. "I've been thinking recently and... You're very different."
"Different? What's that supposed to mean?" Belphie snarkily replied.
"It means you're not the same as everyone else. You're not afraid to be mean to me, even when Lucifer is around. You speak bluntly and honestly to me. You don't treat me like royalty." Diavolo looked down at the papers on his table with a small smile.
"Oh? Do you have a problem with that?" Belphie layed a hand on his chest. "You think I'm disrespectful for seeing through this high and mighty charade?" He taunted. Diavolo grinned.
"Like that! You have no fear of talking back to me! Excellent!"
"What?" Belphie said, taken aback.
"This is what I like about you! Please, tell me what I'm doing wrong. Tell me all the things everyone else is too afraid to." He requested. Belphie took a moment to think.
"Well... I think it's really annoying how you spend more time leading RAD than doing actual politics. Your dad may not be dead but that doesn't mean he's doing his kingly duties. That's all on you. I can't imagine everything you slack on for the purpose of focusing on this dumb university." He started. Diavolo's eyes lit up. "And I hate how you act so childish. You're the one that's supposed to be running the devildom, yet you can't even go a week without another crazy childish idea! You're an adult! Act like it!"
"Yes, please, tell me more!" Diavolo encouraged.
"Don't even get me started on this whole exchange program thing. What gave you this dumb idea? Some teen coming-of-age movie? I can live with your twisted ideas of unity between the three worlds, but did you really have to be so cheezy about it?" Belphie ranted.
"Yes! It really is a convoluted idea, isn't it? This is incredible!" He got up from his desk and walked towards the smaller demon. "Belphegor, I feel like we don't know each other very well. All I know about you is what Lucifer has told me. I want to change that." He opened his arms welcomingly. "I think we could both really benefit from becoming closer with each other." He said softly. Belphie took a step back and furrowed his brow.
"I think you have the wrong idea, Diavolo. Let me spell this out for you. I. Don't. Like. You. I never have and I never will. I hate you. I hate how you turned my brother into your lap dog. I hate how you think everyone loves you. I hate how you think uniting the three worlds is going to work. It won't. All it'll take is one angel dying and the celestial realm will cut all contact with you. Not to mention how stupid humans are. We could show them all the care in the world for centuries and they'd still hate us because of some fantasy book one of them wrote and passed off as the word of god. We're better off on our own. Don't let delusional dreams of peace and harmony convince you otherwise." Diavolo looked on in despair.
"You... really hate me?" He asked.
"I despise you with all my being." Belphie answered. Diavolo sighed.
"I'm sorry you feel that way. You can go now." He walked back to his desk sadly. Without a word, Belphegor exited the room.
"I see it didn't go well." Barbatos mentioned while reentering.
"I really thought..." Diavolo mumbled. "I really thought he'd humor me. I guess that's more proof of how different he is. I would've loved getting closer to him." He looked back down on his desk, to a simple note from inside a fortune cookie. 'You will have good luck with that special someone'
"I suppose the cookie lied." Barbatos said, stonefaced.
"Yeah." Diavolo chuckled. "I suppose so."
