TW: indirect reference to trauma, being triggered, panic attacks, yelling and loud noises
Perspective: MC, third person

MC is gender neutral here and has PTSD, but it isn't explained what their trauma is.

The human sits in their room on their bed, door locked across the room from them. They knew a locked door meant nothing in this house, but hoped the demons they lived with would take the hint. They had on earbuds connected to their phone under large noise-cancelling headphones, trying to focus on their calming music playlist. They fought off the panic attack caused by their PTSD as their whole body shook, vision clouded by tears. They focused on every small beat and change in melody, grounding themself from the swarming memories of what they'd been through far in the past. They hated that they were still haunted by those memories, even now, here in the devildom.
Even through the music and noise cancelling headphones, they heard the banging on their door. They took a breath and took off the large headphones, then the earbuds.
"Consequences of living with some of the strongest demons in the devildom, I suppose."
They could tell it was Mammon by the pattern and strength of the bangs.
"I hate loud noises..." The human continued to shake as they carefully stood from their bed. They took a few more breaths as they walked towards the door. After a few seconds, the door opened.
"M-MC?! What's wrong!?" Mammon immeadiatly passed through the newly unlocked door, worried for 'his human'. They took a step back to keep a comfortable gap between the two.
"Please don't be so loud." They fought the urge to cover their ears with their shaking hands.
"Sorry" he cleared his throat. "What's up wit you? You look... kinda scared." Mammon looked at the human, concerned. They opened their mouth to speak, but choked on their words.
"...J-Just leave, t-t-tell the others I need some time- and to be quiet." Mammon walked forward, to which they walked back again.
"Hey, you were cryin'... And you're shakin' like a leaf..!" Mammon was never an observant demon, but when it came to his human he kept a close eye. He took another step forward, to which MC took a delayed and shakey step back. They shut their eyes tight and subconsciously angled their shoulders inward, their body wanting to retreat into the fetal position. They felt the room crashing in on them as tears welled in their eyes.
"Please just go-"
"I won't go, damnit! Not until I know you're okay!"
The human clasped their hands on their ears in responce to Mammon yelling, tears streaming down their face. There was silence for a few moments.
"MC-" He reached forward.
"Go! Leave me alone! Please!" Their voice dripped of weakness, not at all like the MC Mammon knew.

"What's going on here?" Lucifer entered the room. Not just Lucifer, all the brothers heard the yelling and came to see what was happening.
"I-I don't know! MC was upset and I tried to help but-" Mammon spoke panickedly, like a child getting caught misbehaving.
"They're shaking..." Beel mumbled as he walked slowly towards the human, his first instinct to go and support them.
"Mammon, what did you do to them!" Levi accused.
"I didn't do nothin'!"
"Be quiet, you two." Satan interrupted at an average volume, following Beel towards MC.
"What's wrong?" Beel asked gently and softly, opening his big arms to hug them. The human sniffed and opened their eyes for the first time since the rest of the brothers entered the room.
"G-Give me a second-" they let out in a half whisper, hands still over their ears. Beel dropped his arms and took a step to the side as Satan approached.
"MC, take deep breaths. In through the nose, out through the mouth." Satan guided in a soft voice, seemingly already ahold of the situation.
"Eh? What's happening?" Asmo questioned at full volume.
"Silence. Whatever it is, it's working." Lucifer responded.
MC took deep breaths with Satan, following along with the slow rhythm he showed. The intrusive memories began to subside as they focused on their breathing. Eventually they stopped visually shaking and their heartbeat slowed back to a regular pace.
"It's okay, MC. It's okay. Are you good to talk now?" He smiled at them, and they responded with a small nod, taking their hands down from their ears.
"Thank you..."

"I don't know what just happened, but I guess Satan helped them?" Belphie sighed.
"I-I'm sorry for making a scene, everyone..." MC apologized, bringing their arms together in front of them.
"Oh no, don't apologize! You know we all care about you, darling. We're just glad you're better now." Asmo spoke up. MC smiled at him.
"What exactly was that?" Lucifer stepped forward and questioned. The human wiped their face of their drying tears and looked up at him.
"Oh, um... something happened that triggered me and flew me into a panic attack..." They were careful with their words, not saying what the trigger was in fear of setting themself back into the panic.
"'Triggered' you?" Levi parroted in confusion. Most the demons in the room shared this confusion. Satan looked to the human with a smile, eager to spread his knowledge.
"Mind if I explain, MC?"
"Go ahead."
The blond demon cleared his throat.
"MC has confided in me that they have what's known in the human world as 'PTSD', or 'Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder'. It's a mental health condition caused by a traumatic event, or sustained long-term abuse. They never shared what their trauma was, and I'd advise none of you to pressure them to tell you." Satan was happy to share new information with his brothers. Clearly he had read a book on the subject after the human informed him of their condition.
"Hmm... Yes, I think I remember seeing something about that in some paperwork Diavolo gave me..." Lucifer stated. All eyes on the room were on Satan, which gave the human time to breathe. Satan continued.
"Common symptoms of PTSD are nightmares or unwanted memories of the trauma, also anxiety. It's also common for those with PTSD to have specific 'triggers' that will give them flashbacks of the event, and/or send them into a panic attack. A trigger could be anything; a word or phrase, a sound, an object or character, even a scent could trigger someone."
"Before you ask, I won't tell you what triggered me. I don't want to think about it." MC interjected.
"Of course, I could see how that could just send you into another one of those 'panic attacks'. That'd be a real hassle." Belphie yawned after speaking.

"Well, it seems we're done here." Lucifer directed. A sigh of relief came from the human. After all that, they just wanted to watch some TV and calm down. Most of the brothers immediately left the room, saying goodbyes and see-you-laters to the human, hiding their concern and secret want to stay. All who were left were MC, Mammon, and Beel. Mammon staying was to be expected, but Beel just stood there, deep in thought.
"Is something wrong, Beel?" He looked up at the human.
"No, nothing's wrong... I was just thinking... this PDST thing-"
"PTSD" MC corrected.
"Right. This PTSD thing... I wonder if there's an equivalent in demons." Mammon raised his eyebrow from accross the room at Beel's thought.
"Huh? Why're ya thinkin about that?"
"Well... Sometimes Belphie has really bad nightmares about the Great Celestial War. Bad enough he won't be able to stop thinking about it all day. One of the PTSD things was nightmares and unwanted memories, right? Maybe he has a bit of it then..." Beel looked sadly off to the side.
"I can imagine the Great Celestial War was really traumatic for all of you. In humans, a lot of people who have been at war end up with PTSD." MC added.
"Eh, we don't have to think about all that, alright Beel?" Mammon attempted to cheer up his younger brother. Beel nodded.
"Yeah, alright. I'm gonna go find something to eat now. I hope you feel better, MC." Beel left the room, leaving only Mammon and MC.

It was silent for a moment. The human sat back on their bed and quickly checked their D.D.D. while the demon stood awkwardly.
"U-Um... MC?" The human looked up at Mammon, who walked closer to the bed.
"Yeah?" The demon looked to the side, embarrassed.
"Um, so... What I did earlier really didn't help, did it?" He seemed almost disappointed with himself.
"Yeah... When I'm like that I get really sensitive to loud noises. You yelling at me made it a lot worse." Mammon frowned at their response.
"I-I didn't mean to yell at you! I just care about ya and..." he closed his eyes and started to blush. "a-and I wanted to know what was wrong. I'm always here to help you with whatever problems ya have, y'know?" MC smiled at the demon.
"Yeah... I know, Mammon"
