TW: cheating/dating multiple people at a time, reference to alcohol, general angst
Perspective: third person

MC uses she/her and they/them pronouns here.

This oneshot is based on the song "Water Fountain" by Alec Benjamin.

The envious demon sat in his bathtub-shaped bed, knees pulled up to his chest, watching his pet goldfish swim around in it's large tank. His mind was focusing and obsessing on what he saw earlier that night. That he saw the love of his life with his brother... Levi saw MC dancing with Asmo. Tears started to prick his eyes.
She told me that she loved me by the water fountain...
She told me that she loved me and she didn't love him...
He dug his nails into his knees, trying to fight the jealousy and anger.
And that was really lovely cuz it was innocent...
He pictured their face... the face they had when she looked in his brother's eyes.
But now she's got a cup with something else in it.

The human was with the Avatar of Lust in the living room in the House of Lamentation. They'd both had quite a few drinks.
It's getting kinda blurry at a quarter past ten,
The two had been dancing, though it was clear the demon had ulterior motives.
And he was in a hurry to be touching her skin.
Asmo kissed the human's hand in a gentlemanly manner, then looked up at them with a smirk.
She's feeling kinda dirty when she's dancing with him...
They felt butterflies in their stomach when he looked at them like that
...forgetting what she told me by the water fountain.
They moved towards the demon as if she was in a trance.
Now he's grabbing her hips,
and pulling her in,
kissing her lips,
and whispering in her ear and she knows that she shouldn't listen...
And that she should be with me by the water fountain.

MC knew it wasn't fair. They knew they were being a terrible person and a total cheater by not telling the brothers she was dating them all. But damn, they never felt so loved. They would have never been able to feel this love back home in the human world...
She couldn't be at home in the nighttime because
it made her feel alone but at that time she was too young...
She thought of all the pain she'd been through with young love back at home.
I was too young...

Leviathan buried his face in his knees, unable to stop the swarming thoughts and emotions.
I should've built a home with a fountain for us,
the moment that she told me that she was in love too young...
Levi may have had hundreds of thousands of years on MC, but he was just as naive as them.
I was too young

Too young,
Too young,
Too young,
Young...

Asmo and MC were now in Asmo's room, and he could tell they were acting strange.
"Darling, are you alright? You seem distracted by something." The human avoided the demon's eyes, filled with guilt. Asmo frowned, caring too much about the human to ignore this. "If you don't want this, we don't have to-"
"N-No!" MC sighs. "There's nothing I want more than to be with you, but... there's this sinking feeling in my gut..." The human knew exactly why she was feeling guilty, but didn't want to let out her secret. "Do you think... anyone might have seen us dancing?" Asmo innocently giggled at this.
"Yes, I saw Levi spying on us. Sorry I didn't mention it." The demon winked playfully at the human, but they had a much different tone.
"Levi... saw us?" They frowned. "I-I'm so sorry, I need to go-" MC backed away from Asmo, and rushed out of the demon's room.

They opened the door to Leviathan's room and saw him curled into a ball, surrounded by a steady stream of floating water.
And if she ever goes back to the water fountain
They knew the envious demon could control water, but they'd never seen it in action. It was clear he wasn't doing this on purpose, that it was a symptom of the strong emotion he felt.
The handle will be broken and the rust set in
"Levi!" she yelled, and the demon looked up at them, only now realizing she entered. The second he heard their voice the circling water stopped in place and hovered completely still. His face was stained with tears and he looked betrayed.
"What do you want from me?" he spoke quietly, avoiding eye contact.
"I... I'm sorry." They stepped forward and outstretched their hand. "I hope you can forgive me, or at least give me a chance to explain."
But my hand, it will be open and I'll try to fix it
"I truely love you, Levi."
My heart, it will be open and I'll try to give it

The still water evaporates as the demon stands up with shakey legs.
"How do I know I can trust you..?" He turns and looks the human in the eyes.
"You can't. I can only give you my word." They answer honestly. He looks down and walks towards them.
"I... I really do care about you... and I want to trust you, but..." his words trail off as he stops just before the human.
"I know trust is hard, so... How can I prove to you that I love you?" She grabs his hand. He lets them. Levi wants so badly to be the one she wants to be with. To have her look at him in the same way she looked at Asmo. He was so envious of that look.
"I-I think I know a way." He looks up at MC with a red face.
Now I'm grabbing her hips,
and pulling her in,
kissing her lips,
and whispering in her ear and I know that's it's only a wish,
and that we're not standing by the water fountain.

MC felt so badly about lying to the boys she loved so dearly, but this was the only way she knew how to keep up this charade. One day this spell they've cast will fall, but not yet.

Too young,
Too young,
Too young,
Young...

They were far from innocent but so inexperienced. Did healthy relationships even exist in this world?
She couldn't be at home in the nighttime because
it made her feel alone but at that time she was too young...
Perhaps she was the problem.
I was too young...

Levi was getting what he wanted. He was getting the proof that MC loved him. That they desired him. But this time when she gave that look, all Levi felt was a hole in his heart. What if this is fake? What if she liked his brothers better than him?
I should've built a home with a fountain for us,
the moment that she told me that she was in love too young...
The envious demon thought of all the times he could have claimed them as his if he just manned up and admitted his feelings first. Would that have stopped them from looking at his brother that way? If only he wasn't so immature.
I was too young

Too young,
Too young,
Too young,
Young...

In trying to save their facade of a happy ending, MC created an ending where no one is happy. The lustful demon left alone with his thoughts and confusion, the envious demon left yearning deeply and wishing he could change the past, and the deceitful human left riddled with guilt.

I should've built a home with a fountain for us,
The moment that she told me that she was in love too young...
I was too young.
