Ship: Solomon x Lilith
Perspective: Solomon, third personThe wize ex-king looked around and found himself in a dark space, surrounded by smoke. He carefully walked forward, hoping to find a way out, but never finding a wall. Suddenly he heard his wife's voice.
"Solomon!" she yelled. He turned around and saw a woman he had never seen before. Not just a woman, an angel. The angel had pale skin and long blonde hair. She had eyes of emerald and beautiful white wings.
"My dove... is that you?" He asked. Clearly this wasn't... his current wife was a brown skinned human.... but everything in his heart and soul knew this was her. Slowly around him the smoke started to disapate as the angel walked towards him.
"In a way, I'm the woman you love. But in another, I'm not." She reaches out a hand to touch his face. "You have to find out on your own." The second her angelic skin touched Solomon's, the vision fades, and the man wakes with a start.
"Again... what does this mean?" he whispers. He turns and sees his wife by his side, sleeping soundly, illuminated by the soft moonlight. "I need to figure this out." He whispers as he slips out of bed.The newly self-taught sorcerer searches through the books on the wall of his library. Finally, he finds one on the topic of angels. He grabs it and sits at a table, lighting the candle in the middle of it. He scans the glossary and finds a section titled 'Angels in the Human World'. He reads through it and finds nothing helpful. He flips back to the glossary and finds a section titled 'Demons disguised as Angels.' He thought perhaps a dream demon was haunting his dreams. At the end of the chapter, he found a spell meant to find out the race of a creature. To see if someone's a demon, a human, or an angel.
"If she could secretly be an angel... this is how I could check." he says to himself. He spends the rest of the night memorizing and testing the spell."What are you doing up so early?" Solomon's wife says as she enters the library at the crack of dawn. He smiles widely and runs up to her. He wraps and arm around her waist and cups her face in one hand.
"I have a spell I'd like to try on you, dove." he says. She raises an eyebrow.
"A spell? What does it do?" she questions.
"It wont work if I tell you what it is" he lies. "But don't worry, it's not harmful. I'd never do anything to hurt you." He kisses her on the cheek.
"Go ahead then." She smiles, trusting her husband completely.
Solomon then casts the spell. The way the spell works, the creature will give off a blue energy if they're an angel, an orange energy if they're a demon, or a white energy if they're a human. After casting the spell, the wizard sees something peculiar. A mix of blue and white energy eminates from her outline.
"My dove... have you been keeping any big secrets from me?" he asks, lowering his hand from her face and stopping the spell.
"No, of course not. Why?" she answers.
"All right... because, this spell is telling me you're an angel." he says, completely seriously. His wife giggles and blushes.
"Oh come on, you did this whole thing to flirt with me?" she covers her blushing face. Solomon shakes his head.
"No, I'm being serious."
"What?" She moves her hands back down from her face, confused.
"This spell, if I'm doing it right, is telling me you're legitimatly an angel from heaven." He moves her hair out of her face. "Or maybe part angel. I can't exactly tell." he looks to the side.
"You think I'm an angel?" she asks softly. Solomon lets her go and takes a step back.
"I keep seeing you in my dreams." He looks her in the eyes. "But, it doesn't look like you. It's an angel with a completely different appearance, but something tells me it's still you." He turns and paces while continuing to talk. "You've always had very strong magic energy. I know you don't want to try it out for yourself, but I've felt it from you since the moment we've met. Maybe you're not just a magically gifted human, but some kind of demi-angel!" He says excitedly. His wife walks towards him and grabs his hand.
"So what, you think one of my parents was secretly an angel?" she sassily asks.
"Maybe! Or maybe you're an angel who was reborn as a human!" She giggles at that.
"I don't think that's-" she starts. But suddenly, she collapses in her husband's arms. He holds her close.
"Dove? Are you okay?" he panics. She wakes up a moment later. But when she looks him in the eyes, they're the same shade of emerald the angel from his dreams had.
"You figured it out, my love." she says. She smiles warmly. "I won't remember this in a little while, but my name was Lilith."
"Lilith? As in... the cause of the Great Celestial War?" Solomon asks, shocked.
"Oh, what a shame that's what people know me for. When I was alive I was an angel who adored humans. So much I fell in love with a human man. When he fell ill, I tried to save him, but angels aren't allowed to meddle with the forces of life and death. My father was furious and threatened to erase me from existence, but my brothers were there to protect me." she explains.
"So that's why Lucifer betrayed God?" Solomon asked. Lilith looked down.
"What a strange word... 'betray'... I don't think Lucifer betrayed our father at all. I think he finally stood up for himself and the ones he cared about." she looks back up into the wize man's eyes. "I don't know what happened after I died, Solomon. Please tell me what happened next." she pleads. Solomon stares at her.
"Well... the Great Celestial War ended in Lucifer and his brothers falling and becoming demons. Nowadays, Lucifer is one of the strongest demons out there." he explains. She frowns.
"I wish I could tell him how sorry I am. And how thankful I am." She takes a breath. "But that's all in the past now. Instead of being erased, I was reborn into a human. A human who got to meet someone as wonderful as you." She grabs the man's face and kisses him, to great surprise.
"What are you-?" Lilith places a finger on Solomon's lips to quiet him.
"Shh... I have to leave now. But do me a favor. Let me, in this reborn form, live as a human. I want to live a simple life loving you. I don't want to have to think about my father or Lucifer or the Great Celestial War, I want to be normal. For at least a few years more. Once I die, then I'll be Lilith again, but until then I'm your wife and nothing more. When I wake up, tell me that you were wrong about thinking I'm an angel. Tell me you messed up the spell. And most importantly, tell me you love me."And then, as quickly as it started, it ended. The woman fainted and woke up again, same as normal now.
Let her live a normal life... Solomon couldn't understand Lilith's wish. Why would an angel ever want to be an ordinary human? But he would respect it until the day she died. Once his wife passed, he tried often to contact Lilith's spirit, but it never worked. Occasionally, he felt her presence, but he could never make contact. That was okay to him. As long as she was happy, wherever she ended up.
