His dark eyes lock with yours before Sirius throws his head back, laughing at something James just whispered in his ear.

His look is perfectly disheveled, just the way he (and everyone else) prefers, his tie loosened and the collar of his shirt is popped open, no doubt slaughtered with an old lipstick stain.

James notices you walking down the corridor, gesturing for you to come over and join them. "What're you whispering about over here?"

"James here is telling me how he's trying to serenade Evans, now that her and Grimsby have broken up."

"Tell me," you throw your bag down at Sirius' feet and he simply laughs, bumping into your shoulder.

"Yes James, why don't you tell Rosie all about your plan?"

"I'm just going to be open and honest with her, over a nice dinner in Hogsmeade this weekend. Her friends are helping me set it up," for the first time, his hazel eyes looking hopeful.

"I don't think she's going to fall for it," Sirius shakes his head, smirking to himself again.

"Why are you so against it?" You raise your eyebrows, watching as he taps his foot against the ground, impatiently.

"I think he's against love in general," James shoves his hands into his pocket, pulling out a small charm bracelet.

"I also have this and I want to give her," the charms dangle in the bright sunlight, rainbows casting all over Sirius' dark hair.

"My father used to buy my mother dainty jewelry when he didn't know exactly how to express what he was feeling," you watch James blush, as he begins to show you all the charms on the bracelet, and what they mean to him, how they remind him of Lily.

Sirius rolls his eyes, yawning, "are you finished yet?"

You elbow him in the ribs, narrowing your eyes, "deep down, we know you're soft on the inside, you daft."

You and James share a knowing look, chuckling slightly. "Despite the string of girls you've rejected, we know you'd like to find a connection eventually."

He runs a hand through his hair, "I'm in my prime right now darling, I don't think so - I don't mind breaking hearts for a while."

"You think you're in your prime? You're joking right?" You try to stifle your laugh, but as soon as James falls through, you fail.

"If I didn't know you any better, I'd say you're jealous Rosie." his dark eyes fall on yours, and you watch the subtle movements he makes, dancing along your frame.

"I don't think I'd be bragging about all the girls I've shagged and then rejected," you shake your head, and he catches a couple strands between his fingers.

"It gets easier after... I'd say the fourth, at this point they must know," he chuckles, and James glances off into the distance, looking for Evans, or perhaps Remus.

"And you're dressed just like them," he chuckles, as you roll your eyes. Sirius doesn't say another word before reaching over and unbuttoning the top of your robe, the same look that both him and James sport.

"Better," Sirius smirks, running one finger along where your collared white shirt sits underneath your neck.

"Bugger off," you swat his hand away, as James shakes his head. You wouldn't admit it, but the simple touch, the jokes, silently warping your outfit to his, all had your heart racing.
