____________________Harry is the first one to notice you. His eyes have moved from the conversation at the table, to your moving figure as soon as you move through the doorway. His breath catches in his throat, his jaw clenches slightly and he begins to fiddle with his empty cup, to hide how overwhelming his nerves are.
He hadn't seen you in months, and all he can think about was is incredible you look under this dimming light, and how foolish he had to be, for the way he pretended he didn't feel the same way about you, as you did him. And how sorry he was for doing such a foolish thing.
He was a damned fool for leaving that train-station without admitting how he truly felt, his vulnerability toward you, and just how much he enjoyed hearing your laugh.
Your date glances up from the table, and you watch as excitement flashes through their expression, "y/n, you're finally here!"
You slip out of your jacket, sitting beside them with a smile, "my assignment kept me longer than I thought it would, I apologize."
You glance at the other two people sitting at the table, one being the miraculous Harry Potter, and his date, a student you didn't seem to know.
He catches your expression and offers a polite smile as you sit down. "Good to see you, y/n," he moves his attention to the napkin beside him, and you're the only one who seems to comprehend just how nervous he was.
Nervous? But he rebuffed my feelings this summer when I saw him last, you frown slightly, feeling into the overall atmosphere of the room.
"How are you Harry?" You do your best not to signal the sudden shift at the table, glancing down at the menu your date hands you.
"I'm Demelza Robins, Harry and I play on the same Quidditch team-" she sounds particularly proud of the aspect, bumping her shoulder into his.
You watch something flash through Harry's light eyes as he moves to keep the conversation friendly.
"I can't believe I've managed to convince Harry on a trip to Hogsmeade for a double date!" Your date beams, seemingly excited at the mere prospect of being in the same breathing area as Harry.
"How exactly did you manage that? I know he isn't big on dating," Demelza's eyes zero in on you, raising an eyebrow as you attempt to create a polite conversation.
"You two know each other?" Her words are sharp and filled of venom.
You nod, "Harry knows a lot of people, and we're neighbors back in the muggle world," you can almost see her now scanning you for any sign of a threat.
"Oh. Well, I've never heard of you." The statement comes out cold toward you, as she gives a laugh over her cup.
You chuckle for a second, "I believe this is the first time I've seen you with Harry."
"He simply prefers a little privacy when it comes to his dating life." She crosses her arms and sinks back into her seat.
Harry shakes his head into the menu, his eyes darting back between the two of you. "We're not really to-"
Your date chimes in about how large the school is, moving to take the conversation in another direction, although still fixated on Harry in small waves.
You know the feeling makes him uncomfortable, especially coming from two star-struck people at this table. And you'd rather take Demelza's jealousy, so she is one less person fawning over him.
