You give a smile as you pass Lily down the corridor, flocked by James, Sirius Remus and of course Peter.
"Y/n, why don't you hang out with us? We're going to grab some Butterbeer just before dinner." She passes you a wicked smile, her red hair tucked into a intricate braid.
"I've got heaps of stuff to do." You gesture to your binders, parchment stacked upon parchment.
She gives a small chuckle, James catching up with her. "We won't be too long, besides I know you could finish all those assignments in an hours time." She pleads.
"It'll be adventurous, y/n. Didn't you say the other night that you'd like to indulge in more risque activity? Sneaking off school ground is a nice start." James steps up, wiping at a spot on his glasses.
"I-- I guess." You nod, noting everyone's smiles.
"Great, that's lovely." Everyone chimes in, all making noises of agreement.
"Just let me drop these off at the common room."
"Of course." Remus speaks up, nodding his head with a smile.
"We'll be at the front of the school." Lily turns back to James with a smile, and you watch as they all eye Sirius.
You raise an eyebrow, but don't say another word as you walk away.
As you head to your common room, your stomach begins to tighten, and you release a small chuckle.
You've never really maintained a friendship with Lily, Remus, James, Peter or Sirius- but talked to them on occasion, usually during classes.
Lily had been quiet and kept mostly to herself, but once getting to know her: she's loud, intelligent, vibrant, as well as taking charge, and she's very passionate. She enjoys a hearty challenge, as well as a long argument.
Perhaps that's why she and James get along well.
Remus had been quiet and reserved as well, and while that still remains throughout conversations with him, he's become more relaxed around you. Especially after you noted to him that your father was a werewolf in a casual conversation. He's soft spoken, and cares for his friends more than he'd like anyone to know.
Immediately you knew James held the qualities of a leader- and at first you didn't take kindly to him. You had heard some awful rumors about him during your fourth year at the school. After being paired together for a project, you found it was his front. He didn't want anyone to know what a sensitive soul he has, and the darkened perspective he views the world with. When speaking to you about Lily, it's clear he is finding his light from the darkness.
Peter rubs you the wrong way. You don't have a reason for wanting to dislike him- it rivals deep in your instincts. His wide eyes and squeaky voice seem to turn everyone off, but James and the rest of the group welcome him with open arms.
You decided that it would only be polite if you did as well.
Sirius had been seen as the typical bad boy. You watched as he rebelled against all the teachers, winked at all his admiring females, and sneered against those he considered his enemies.
However, he always took a moment to smile at you. And the more you speak with him, the more you realize that he is genuine. That he holds a front just the same as Remus.
He's witty, and sarcastic. He isn't afraid to have an in-depth conversation with you, caring about your feelings just as you listen to his.
Although, you find yourself wishing that he would wink at you the way he does with other people.
