Chapter 34

"Ohhhhh there it is!" I said looking at the sonogram picture. "Its so small and tiny."The doctor laughed and taehyung smiled looking at it too.
"Okay I'll give you some time to look at it. I'll be back in 10 minutes."
I saw taehyungs smile turning into a pout as the doctor left. He looked as if he wanted to say something but couldn't. I looked at him and arched my eyebrows signalling 'whats wrong?'
"I cant see the baby."
"You-------what?" I asked, pursing my lips.
"I cant see the baby, y/n. I'm gonna be a terrible father."
I got up from the bed and helped him go closer to the screen. "Look properly, tae, there that little pea like-thingy, thats the embryo." He squinted his eyes to follow my fingers and kept staring at the picture and nodded slightly.
"Did you find it now?"
He nodded, eyes still fixed at the picture.
We heard a knock on the door and the doctor came back in.
"Your baby is healthy and safe. So there's no need to worry. Just make sure you take care of yourself well, yeah? Avoid lifting heavy things, exercise daily, eat properly coz your baby needs food to grow, avoid junk as much as possible, no bears at all and mainly stress on protein rich food, take the meds as prescribed, and also...you may feel weak sometimes, dont worry, just some sleep will fix it. Do you get it?"
We both nodded. No junk for 9 months? DPthat's tough! I looked at my stomach and whispered 'you better be worth it!'
Taehyung thanked the doctor and gave me a hand to stand up. We came out of the clinic.
"Im hungry!" I said pouting.
"What do you wanna have, mommy?"I gave him a glare before answering
"Lets have some pizza daddy, shall we?"
"The doctor said no junk food. Also, you gotta stop calling me that----"
"I dont care what the doctor says! I want pijjaaa, pijjaaaaaa!"
"What are you, a baby? You have a baby inside you damnn it! Don't sulk, you've to listen to the doctor, dont you want our baby to be healthy and safe?"
"Ughhh~you dont love me anymore...you just love our baby, dont you?"
"Silly girl! Let's go home. Your mom is waiting for us. She's made some delicious food for you."
"No I don't wanna go, she'll make me have fruits and soup. I want pijjaa!"
"Lets buy some ice cream then, kay? After you eat the soup and the fruits like a good girl, we can have some of your favorite ice cream. Is that okay?"
I smiled and gave up to the temptation of ice cream. Mom opened the door to us and I hugged her.
"Grow up , will you y/n?"
"No, growing up is boring. I wanna be a child forever." I sat on the sofa and sipped on the water. Taehyung bowed and followed me in.
"How did the appointment with the doctor go? Is the baby fit and healthy?"
"Yes, Mrs.Min. she said everything is fine. And she gave her some instructions, and asked her to follow them. "
"Thats great news. Sit down, darling, ill bring yall some tea."
Mom went away to the kitchen. I switched on the TV and taehyung joined me to watch. The news channel was on and a reporter was talking about how some ministers were taking to bribery these days and how the country was getting worse every day.
"These irresponsible venals are gonna ruin this beautiful country one day." I heard my fathers voice and looked sideways to find my father staring at the news. This was my first time meeting him after I gave him the news that I was pregnant. I didnt know how to start a conversation with him.
"And whats worse is that we people choose these leaders to lead our country. "Taehyung added. I was shook.
"Well, truly spoken. You take a liking to politics?"
"We not really sir--I mean, Mr. Min. But it really is true that some people at high positions think they can do anything because they have power. And we, the common people have to watch everything. You protest, you get beaten. That's the reality."
Dad just nodded along and started writing something on a piece of paper. I looked at taehyung and he gave me a wink. I tried not to laugh. Mom had arrived with tea and snacks.
"Hows college, y/n?" Mom asked.
"Its good, I met Jimin today. He is in my college. I think its gonna be great!"
"Thats great, and what about you, Tae?"
"I'd applied for some colleges here and I got an admission yesterday. My dad will send the money and ill soon join college too."
"Im so happy for you both."
Dad didnt speak a word at the snack time. Later, when we were done having tea, he excused himself to go to his room. Mom asked me to go talk to him. I declined but she wouldn't hear me. I sighed, and walked up the stairs to his room. I knocked on the door.
"You know you don't have to---"he was most probably not expecting me to come up to his room and when he saw me, he didn't say a word. I twitched my fingers nervously.
"Uhh...dad? I came to say that, im- I'm sorry. I really didnt----i dont know how to---"
"Stop fumbling and speak properly. You're gonna be a mom soon. What will you teach your baby?"
I looked down and was too nervous to say anything. After some time, he spoke,
"Im your dad, and I want the best for you. I've never forced anything on you, and I always wanted you to be happy. I was worried about you, you're just 19, how will you raise up a baby at this age?You know right, how hard it was for us when you sister died in thatt---- We didn't want to loose you too....its an age to study, be carefree and to enjoy life. But....if you're happy with this guy, and if you think you can manage all these...then I can say nothing else, can I?"
I sat down on the bed and said.
"It scares me dad, it scares me too, a a lot. I'm really new to this feeling, but o wanna try. I think I can do it if I have you both, and tae beside me. I'm sorry for disappointing you."
He came and sat beside me as he spoke
"You have us, always. And he is not a bad guy. Maybe he will keep you happy, I really hope so."
I looked at the picture of my sister on the table and once again, I closed my eyes and tried not to think about it.

Yes I'm gonna bring the book. I remember. Y/N, Ill call you------------

She didn't deserve to die.

She didn't deserve to go through so much pain.
