A Tokka story

Republic City, Kantos apartment

He heard knocking on the door, he opened the door and saw Toph with red puffy eyes with her head that was facing the ground.
"whats wrong? what happened?are you crying?"
"no, im not" Toph said firmly
"what-"
"IM PREGNANT" Toph screamed angry
"WHAT!? HOW IT HAPPENED?"
"UGH YOU KNOW HOW, ITS YOUR FAULT"
Kanto stayed quiet, he was speechless
"i dont want this, and theres no turning back, you understand this, right?!"
Kanto didnt respond
"JUST TALK TO ME YOU NITWIT, ITS YOURS"
"i dont want this too" he said calm
"i dont want-and i never wanted this," he finished
"YOURE NOT"
"yes, yes i am, its yours not mine, it inside of you not me...i- i dont want to know anything about this baby...ever again"
"YOU CANT JUST AVOID IT, I FEEL AN HEARTBEAT, ITS ALIVE, ITS A CREATURE YOU CANT LEAVE ME ALONE"
"not my problem"
"OH ITS YOUR PROBLEM"
Toph bent a giant boulder and smashed his apartment, then she ran away, away as possible trought the storm and went to Sokkas home.
Sokka opened the door, the tears were cutting her face, and she was soaked and filled with dust from the earlier boulder.
She hugged him and started to cry in his chest.
He didnt say anything, just hugged her back under the rain, as tight as possible.
4 months later
She heard knock at the door of her office,
"who is it"
Sokka entered the room with a water bottle in one hand, "Hi! i wanted to see if you were okay, i brought you some water, Katara says you must stay hydrated, howre you feeling?"
"im fine, i told you not come here, i have this under control, Snoozles"
"i know, i know, im just a worried friend thats it"
"CHIEF THERES A TRIAD WAR, SHOULD WE DO SOMETHING?"
"YES, WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT? IM COMING"
Toph managed to got up but Sokka stopped her
"youre not really going on service while youre carrying a baby, right?"
"shut up snoozles"
She made her way to the door but Sokka stayed in front of the door
"move it, now"
"T...i know that you hate this situation, but you cant avoid it"
"HE DID IT, WHY I CANT ?"
"T..."
"HE AVOIDED IT, IM DOING THE SAME BUT I CANT, CAUSE ITS INSIDE OF ME AND I HATE IT, I HAVE TO GIVE BIRTH AND I HATE IT, I CANT LIFT GIANT BOULDERS ANYMORE AND I HATE IT, IM USELESS AND HELPLESS AND I HATE IT"
Sokkas eyes widened, he knew that se was upset but he didnt know it was this...serious
"T, i didnt avoid it, so do it for me...take care of this baby for me" he placed an hand on is swoollen belly.
now Toph was surprised, he really did this? he really cared? he was the last person that cared about her...
"I..." Toph was speechless
"I...care about this baby and i care about you, for real, and i dont want anything happen to both of you"
"...ugh fine"
"you can do paperwork!"
"seriously?"
"oh...right, we can go home, the headquarters can command themselves for today"
"I...ok" she gave a weak smile
Sokka took her hand and they walked back to Tophs house, on the way she blushed, giggled and talked with him...she didnt giggle in years.
Maybe her childhood crush never went away...
Air temple Island, 5 months after
Katara was at the end of the bed where Toph was screaming like she never did
"Toph, you have to collaborate" said Katara worried
"IM COLLABORATING, ITS HIM THAT ITS NOT COLLABORATING, TAKE HIM OUT OF ME"
Katara sighed and exited the room
Sokka immediately got up
"is she doing fine?"
a scream left the room
"um...its complicated...the baby its in a strange position and i cant let it out..."
"what thats supposed to mean?" asked Sokka worried
"maybe ill have to give birth to the child in...other ways" she said with sadness
"you have to cut-" Sokka put an hand on his mouth, a tear escaped from his eye
"b-but s-shes gonna d-"
Katara cried "maybe, yes"
"can...can i see her?"
"come in"
they entered the room
"IT HURTS, GET HIM OUT"
"Toph...you have to push, and if it doesn't work, well...we have to use the other method"
"IM GOING TO DIE FOR THIS MISTAKE"
"T, its gonna be ok...just push" said Sokka, worried
"no, no, no i dont want to die, I-"
Toph stopped, She was going to die, her, the greatest earthbender in the world...is dying for giving birth to the child she never wanted
"Toph theres no time..." said Katara crying
"1...2...3...PUSH"
a scream filled the room
Sokka held her hand tightly
Toph was surprised by the gesture but tightened the grip
one last scream filled the room and a baby crying the second after, Katara had the baby in her hands and she smiled trought the tears.
"I HAVE HER"
Toph sighed in relief, so did Sokka...
"her?" said Sokka
"its a baby girl, shes gourgeous Toph"
"i hope she is..."
Later
Katara cleaned up the baby and gave her to Toph
"nah give her to Sokka first he was all excited"
Sokkas smile widened, he took the infant in his arms
"im going to tell the others that you and the baby are okay"
Katara exited the room
Sokka was looking at the baby girl in his arms...her eyes pale skin like her mothers and her dark hair were beautiful.
"so...how is she?" asked Toph trying to sound not interested but she was
"shes...shes squishy" said Sokka
"oh thank you so much" said Toph sarcastically
"um...shes really beautiful...she has pale skin like you and dark hair..."
"sounds good"
"really good"
"is she...ugh...is she blind?"
"i dont think so...i see her eyes...theyre green, like-"
"Kantos" said Toph without emotions in her voice
they were silence for a few minutes, then Sokka spoke "Toph...back then...when you could...
when you could die at any moment i realised something...i realised that i love you"
he heard snoring
"right...youre tired"
