Nora's Point of View
"Where's Happy?" I asked curiously, looking around the compound, "Rat, Quinn...the others?"
Chibs smiled at me. "Out on club business," he replied as he looked over my shoulder at Maddie, "Whose this, love?"
"Chibs, Tig," I replied, "This is my best friend, Maddie. She has been my rock since I first moved to Santo Padre."
The glance Chibs and Tig shot each other did not go unnoticed by me and I felt a slight twinge of irritation.
"What the hell was that?" I snapped, letting the irritation get to me.
"What was what?" Tig asked, looking from me to Chibs and back again.
"I wasn't born yesterday, assholes," I muttered, "I saw the look you two just exchanged. What the hell was that about?"
"Love, we will talk about this in a little bit," Chibs said quietly, "Let's just enjoy the moment for now, ok?"
"Fine," I replied as I crossed my arms across my chest and took a couple deep breaths.
"Nice to meet you, Maddie," Chibs said, trying to diffiuse the situation. Judging by the look on Maddie's face, I could tell his accent was getting her all riled up. She wouldn't be the first he affected like that, nor would she be the last. Maddie grinned like an idiot and she shook his hand. She smiled over at Tig as well and he smiled and nodded his head in her direction.
"Come," I said as I grabbed Chibs' and Tig's hand, "I've got a special little girl you need to meet."
Maddie followed behind as I led the guys over to the play structure where the boys were playing and Ava was sitting quietly in the corner, playing with a doll she brought with her. The moment Abel saw Tig and Chibs, he hurled himself in their direction and Thomas quietly watched as they interacted with each other. I ran my fingers through Thomas' brown hair and he turned his face to look up at me.
"Do you remember Uncle Chibs and Uncle Tig, baby?" I asked him quietly as I knelt down to his level.
"Not really," Thomas mumbled, "Only from the pictures you showed me. Are these guys daddy's friends?"
"Yeah, baby," I answered, "Your dad was really close with them. You were really close with them too. Before we left, you had a very special bond with Tig and both you and Abel had a special bond with Uncle Happy. You'll see him later."
Thomas just nodded in response and held onto my hand, clearly playing the shy card.
Tig made his way over to us and knelt down in front of Thomas. "Hey buddy," Tig said sweetly, "You've grown up so much...you look so much like your momma...Do you remember me?"
Thomas shook his head in response but he still made an effort. He moved past me and with all the courage he could muster, he wrapped his little arms around Tig, catching both Tig and me off guard. Tig looked up at me quickly and I struggled to keep the tears at bay. I just nodded my head. Tig hugged Thomas close and I made sure to take a mental image of the moment so I could remember it later.
"I have lots of pictures of you with me as a baby," Thomas said quietly to Tig, "And momma said you were good friends with my daddy..."
"Yeah, buddy," Tig replied, "We were really close. We were all a great big family."
Just then I felt a gentle tug on my shirt from behind. I looked down and Ava's big blue eyes peered up at me curiously. The boys had gone back to playing after they had given out hugs and said their hellos and now Chibs and Tig were drawn to Ava. Jax's beautiful baby girl, who looked in every way like him and only shared my nose and cheeky grin. Again, Chibs and Tig knelt down to her level and she shoved her fingers in her mouth, not knowing how she should react to these strangers.
