The Next Day

EZ's Point of View

I was sitting in the doorway of my trailer that Sunday morning, drinking orange juice from the carton and trying to catch my breath after a long, hard workout. I had maybe gotten a couple hours of sleep because of Nora. She had been on my mind all night. She wouldn't fucking leave my thoughts. I had wanted her to know that she caught my attention, but I couldn't help but think that I had crossed a line last night.

"Yo, EZ," Angel called as he made his way towards me, "How'd it go last night?"

He sat down on the picnic table a few feet from my trailer and waited for me to talk with a ridiculous grin on his face.

"I don't think the odds are in my favor, Angel," I mutter as I walk over to him and sit down beside him, "She told me some things last night and I don't think I'm ever going to break through the walls she has built around herself."

"If this is about her kids, EZ," Angel began before I cut him off.

"You knew?" I asked curiously, "How did you find out?"

"Maddie goes over there every Saturday to make pancakes for her and the kids," Angel replied, "She brought me with her yesterday. I'm sorry brother, it wasn't my information to tell. I promised her I wouldn't say anything to you until she told you herself."

"No, that's fine, I'm not upset about that," I said, "And it's not about the kids. Angel, I found out some things last night that blew my mind. I need to talk to someone about it, and I would like it to be you, but I need to know that you will keep this to yourself. The club doesn't need to know."

"What the fuck are you talking about?" Angel questioned, "You're my brother, I won't tell anyone."

I wasn't entirely sure I was doing the right thing by telling Angel what Nora told me last night, but I was going insane keeping this to myself. I needed to bounce this off him, get his input. I put the carton of juice down on the table and wiped my sweaty palms on my shorts.

"Do you know anything about Nora's history, or past?" I asked him.

"All I know is her husband died," Angel replied, "Don't know how long ago or how, but I know his death damn near destroyed her."

"So she didn't say who her husband was?"

"No," Angel replied, "Nothing. I know nothing."

"Angel, Nora is part of the SAMCRO family," I choked out, unsure of how he would take it, "Nora was Jax Teller's old lady. Those gorgeous children you met yesterday are Jax Teller's kids."

Even as I said the words outloud, it didn't seem real. Jax Teller's name had been floating around the club alot lately. I never knew the guy, but from what I could tell, the Mayans had a lot of respect for him and alot of people held him in high regard. Some even say that in his last months alive, however, death and destruction followed him everywhere he went, which unfortunately, led to his untimely death.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Angel said, shock written on his face.

"No, I'm not. Her dad was part of the First 9 and her brother was also patched," I said as I put my head in my hands, "Both were brutally killed. I don't know details, but it tore her up just telling me about it."
