Nora's Point of View

As I made my way up the walkway towards the parking lot I could feel my blood racing through my veins. I honestly never expected to see her again, but she had some nerve slinking around a cemetery, following me and my family around hoping for a moment. Hoping for a chance to see her one reason left for living. When I got closer she stepped away from the tree and slowly walked towards me. Several months before Jax had died, Wendy had showed back up in Charming after a long stint in rehab. She had turned her life around. Her recovery had been astounding. So much so that I trusted her enough to become her friend, to allow her to spend time with Abel and get to know him. On the one condition that she never told him that she was his biological mother. After Jax died, Wendy agreed to let me take Abel away from Charming and she promised to stay away. Until now...

"Wendy, what the hell are you doing?" I snapped as we finally reached each other, "Prowling the cemetery and freaking my kids out is not a wise move."

"I know, I'm sorry," Wendy muttered as she wrapped her sweater around her skinny, frail looking body, "I heard you guys were in town. It was stupid of me, but I waited until you left the clubhouse and followed you."

"You're right, it was very stupid," I muttered, "What the hell happened to you?"

Wendy winced as if I'd slapped her across the face. I had clearly hit on a touchy subject. She was jittery, like she was jonesing for another hit of something and her eyes were darting back and forth, clearly unable to look me directly in the eye. Her eyes were sunken in and she looked exhausted. Her hair was long and unruly and looked like it hadn't been washed in days.

"After Jax died and you guys left, I was doing really good," Wendy said as she transferred her weight back and forth from one foot to the other, "And then I just fell apart. I just remembered, a day before Jax died, he had told me how proud he was that I had gotten my life back on track. He was happy of all the progress I made to turn my life around. He never said anything about Abel or me being able to see him, but I had somehow made my peace with it...or at least I thought I had, and then I realized I had nothing. Jax was gone, the friendship I built with you was gone, my son was gone...the club didn't want me hanging around. I literally had nothing, so I threw everything I worked so hard to achieve out the window and turned to the one thing I knew best. I've tried to get clean, but I couldn't..."

"Jesus, Wendy," I said as I let out a heavy sigh, unsure of what to say to her.

"When I heard you were in town, Nora, my heart lifted a little," Wendy said quietly, "Maybe...do you think I could see Abel? I think seeing him could motivate me to clean up my life again."

I stared at her like she had grown another appendage and I could feel the rage slowly build up as I focused on the audacity of this woman. Wendy had always been bold and liked to tread in dangerous territory, even though she knew she shouldn't.

"You're joking right? Please tell me you're joking," I snapped, "What would even posses you to ask me a question like that? You already know the answer. Besides, it looks like you're hoping to score your next hit...there is no way I would ever let you anywhere near that little boy. Don't you dare follow us again, Wendy. I mean it."

"Nora, please, don't walk away," Wendy pleaded as a tear fell from her eye, "I need this...I really need to see Abel."

"Not going to happen," I mutter, "Now go, or I'll call the club."

Wendy was about to protest but I lifted my hand up to silence her and I shook my head. I turned on my heel and left her standing there. I had no idea what drugs she was on, but she was deluded if she actually thought I would go along with this plan of hers to see Abel. I made my way back towards my brother and father's graves and Maddie made a mad dash towards me when she saw me.
