BEYONCÉ KNOWLES

Family matters.

Kelly kept giving me this dummy look amongst the five-occupancy dining table in Nobu. I was mindfully dressed down for this scenery, still not caring for the fancy interior and pricey menu. My dad had made it very clear he'd be covering all tabs of our party and too, "treating" us after. I was just ready to get this thing over with.

After an awkward greeting and hugs plus them telling me how proud they are of me for successfully graduating and keeping myself up out here, I started counting down the time on my own. I was silently praying the time we spent here wouldn't surpass a couple of hours in all. The restaurant was close to one of the mainstream airports in the city so I knew Onika would be closer than I expected and wished. After such, I was ready to meet her again before she was away for the next month or whatever.

The empty seat my parents requested kept me anxious as to who it was for since they had shown alone. The only other body I could think they'd possibly be reserving it for was their dawg on pet cat they treated and looked after like human spirit.

Kelly was even questioning it with a testing eye, shooting me wondering looks. I shrugged in reply, silently whilst the talk of the table was chit-chat for now and a round of drinks came out on a metallic gold platter.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" I finally decided to ask her, rolling my eyes.

Before she responded, she looked around the space till her shoulders moved a shy of a shrug. "No reason. You're just very... happy right now it seems. You got a lil' pep in your step."

I kiss my teeth and chuckle. "Please, I'm just happy I'm about to get some food. I'm starving and worked up a mean appetite too close to the time I had to come here so I couldn't eat anything. I hope it's good here and not overrated."

"And to think you were coming around." She mumbled, incoherent to them opposite of us and with their head in the menus. "You're glowing too."

I squint and Kelly gives me the same query glare back.

"Anyway, when you told me you were getting your hair done the other day, I didn't expect you to cut it. You really did make a bold move, I see you're living up to a new age and year. I'm happy for you."

"Thank you," Coyly smiling.

That was the plan, and if I were aiming for molding a new and improved cast for the new Beyoncé, I needed a fresh start in my new beginning. With hope on my side, I was holding onto the positive mind that I could do it, and for the better. I doubt that it's going to be a walk in the park because I have so many problems internally, I'd always have to fight against myself first.
