Chapter 5

It was pretty late at night, Rainbow Dash couldn't sleep because the moonlight was keeping her awake. She tried closing the shades on her window but the light was shining right through.

Rainbow: Ugh...! What is going on tonight?

She went into her closet to sleep with the door shut. It wasn't as comfortable as when she was in bed but it was all she could do at the moment. She couldn't text her friends asking them if they had the same problem, she was the only one awake. The rest of Canterlot was asleep.

Rainbow: I'm so sick of this stupid mystery, I'm no Sherlock Holmes or Nancy Drew. Just Rainbow Dash WHO WANTS TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON WITH ME?!?!

Rainbow's mom heard her yelling and hurried upstairs to check on her.

Mom: Rainbow, what's wrong? Why are you in the closet?

Rainbow: No, reason, Mom.

Mom: Okay...you wanna go back to bed?

Rainbow: I think I'm comfortable right here!

Right away, that was a not a good sound, clearly something was bothering the poor teen.

Mom: Honey, why don't you come in my room.

Rainbow: Fine

Rainbow Dash followed her mom to her room, she remained silent the entire time not wanting to make small talk or anything.

Mom: What's wrong? Tell me

Rainbow: Nothing's wrong, stop worrying about me like you always do, always on top of me 24/7. Don't you ever want to take a break?

Mom: Just tell me what's wrong, you look annoyed.

Rainbow: I'm fine, Mom, can I go to bed?

Rainbow Dash stormed off to her room.

After school the next day, Rainbow Dash talked to her friends about the night before.

Rainbow: And then the moon's light was just shining in my room, I couldn't sleep, so I had to go into the closet and-

Twilight: Have you tried a sleep mask?

Rainbow: ...No...man, now I wish I thought of that so my mom wouldn't have to be on top of me.

Pinkie: What's wrong with that?! At least-

Applejack: *covers her mouth* I think that's enough of your literal comments.

Pinkie: *removes her hand from face* I was gonna say at least she has someone to keep an eye on her.

Rainbow: That's not the point, guys. I've been trying to find out this stupid mystery for so long, it's getting in my head and I can't think straight! Literally! Yeesh!

The mystery was bothering everyone else too, mainly because Rainbow Dash never stopped talking about it. Hopefully as soon as she figured it out, she'd stop talking...or just talk about it more often because she found out what it is. Boy, that's annoying.

Rainbow Dash was shocked to find that her parents were waiting for her as soon as she got home from school. Either that meant they had a surprise for her, or she was in big trouble.

Rainbow: What'd I do? I payed attention in all my classes, I stayed for soccer practice, and I did all my homework. What could I possibly do wrong?

Mom: It's not that, baby...

Dad: *whispers to Mom* It's time we tell her, Wendy. We can't keep this secret for long, she's bound to find out soon enough.

Rainbow: Tell me what? Is there a big secret going around or something? Are you guys getting divorced?! Please don't!

Mom: *sighs* Rainbow, listen, there's something you should know. Your dad and I have been keeping this secret since you were a baby

Rainbow: What? What's going on? Tell me!

Dad: Sweetie...we're not you're real parents.

Rainbow: ...What are you talking about?

Mom: You see, baby...we never got pregnant...you're from the moon.

Rainbow: Huh?!
