Chapter 6 - The Old Flame Is Extinguished

Sonic pulled up his hood and growled. He muttered, "Those Noctrunus. They'll pay for this. Especially that big idiot." It felt like a long walk but Sonic arrived to see Mark The Anteater's house caught on flames along with his body. Sonic stood there in shock but didn't show it. That's when a familiar female voice said, "Hehehe. The fire is as bright as our love once was." Sonic turned to see Serena. But the golden hedgehog was different. She was wearing a dark purple dress, boots, and gloves with dark purple make up. She was also not the same girl Sonic once knew. She was a sweet girl who commonly an elegant girl who loved wearing pink. But this girl isn't Serena in Sonics eyes anymore. Sonic with a stern look said, "How many years has it been since we last seen each other? You've changed Serena." The girl grinned and said, "Oh thanks for noticing. But it is too late to win my heart back now. I'm afraid I'll haft to destroy you." Sonic quickly summoned his sword as he swung it Serena swung hers and the two collided with one another. Serena grinned again and said, "So your power really has awakened. Hehe. Well your handsome enough to get away with it." That's when Serena frowned and said as she backed away and kept her sword to her side, "But I'm gonna make you pay for splitting our love apart Sonic." Sonic then said as the black pattern on his left upper face glowed and his green eyes started to turn grey. The black pattern from the Hell-Vanguard gave him the ability to sense an enemy or two nearby and even can sense a person or two. It can also paralyze someone by looking at them (just like Medusa does when she turns people to stone.) but only the effect can only last 3 minutes. Sonic said as he pointed his sword at Serena, "Ya wanna dance Serena? Then let's do the dance of the swords." Serena chuckled evilly and said as she pointed her sword, "Well then. I don't see why I can't reject the man I once loved. Very Well Sonic. Let's dance one more time." Both then started to sword fight. Serena was fast to dodge Sonics attack moves. She said with a malicious smile, "You have grown more strong. But I'm strong too." Serena slashes Sonics shoulder as Sonic dodged it. Sonic said as he jumped and landed behind Serena, "Serena! Will you snap out of it. This isn't really you. It's the Noctrunus." Serena laughed but didn't pay attention to Sonics words. Sonic thought, "I've got no choice. I haft to kill her." Sonic then sees Serena was about to slash Sonic but the blue hedgehog looked at her with his grey eyes which made Serena stopped and said, "Wh-What?! NO!" Sonic didn't know what happened but didn't care right now. He picked up the sword and rushed towards her as he let out a battle cry. That's when Sonic stopped and stabbed Serena in the chest. The female hedgehog looked at her former lover and said with a smile, "W-well. You d-didn't hesitate. I-I'm impressed." Sonic pulled the sword out of her as it disappeared. Then Sonic caught Serena in his arms as soon as the paralyzation in her body wore off. Sonic then said as he looked into her eyes, "I'm sorry Serena. I had no choice but to~" Serena cuts him off and said as she smiled, "T-There's no need for apologies S-Sonic. Y-you knew wh-what you haft to do." Sonic sighs before he can say anything else Serena use the last of her strength to move and kiss Sonics cheek as she said, "Your still a handsome blue speed demon in my eyes Sonic. I-I will a-always be in your m-memory." Then Serena died in his arms before she glowed a golden light and rose up the same way as Sonia before it hits Sonic. A neon golden pattern appeared on his back as the light disappeared. All that was left of Serena was ashes. Sonic looked over at the ashes and gave it a proper burial with a cross on it. After he buried the ashes he said before placing a simple pink rose on the grave, "I'll avenge the deaths of the people who have fallen in vein cause of the Noctrunus's cold and bloody hands. Your death along with the others won't be in vein Serena." Sonic then looked at the now burnt house as he walked towards it. He looked at what remained of the body of Mark The Anteater and said, "Useless fool. You always were." Sonic spat on it before kicking and stomping on it until it was crushed completely. Sonic said to himself with a smirk, "I've always wanted to do that." Sonic walked out before he ran as fast as he could. Then when he sees a large ravine. Sonic attempts to jump over it. As he did something happened. He grew a pair of golden angel wings that helped him go higher across the ravine. Sonic landed on his own two feet on the other side of the ravine. He said while looking back, "May you 'Rest in Peace' Serena." The golden pattern on Sonics back gave Sonic the ability to fly or reach over the highest places and might be able to turn him into his super form if the situation is harder to deal with in battle. Sonic then said as he looked at the pattern on his left arm, "The pink pattern gives me the power to summon any weapon I could think of. The black pattern on the left side of my face gives me the power to paralyze a person or two for three minutes. And a course the golden pattern on my back gives me the power to fly or reach over the highest of places. I wonder if it can also turn me in to my super form. A course it's been a while since I was 'Super' Sonic. Right now I gotta go plan Serena's memorial at Everbrave Village." Sonic walked back to EverBrave village unaware that one of the Noctrunus have spotted him. It said in a female voice as she got out her communicator, "Enerjak? Bad news. Serena has fallen." A male voice said in the other line, "What? Dang it that hedgehog is a nuisance. If he interferes in my plan it will be over." The Noctrunus spy said, "Don't worry sir. Everything will go as planned. Right now he has to get through all of them." The voice said on the other line, "JUST DON'T FAIL ME!" The Noctrunus spy said, "Understood. Over and out." The spy hung up before she went on to another location.
